This would be like if a cop saw someone's front door open and said "well that must be trouble" and just wandered into their house with their weapon drawn. Every time I don't think cops can shock me with their incompetence and corruption anymore... another video like this comes out.
A cops extent of investigation is to get the ID of the suspect. Speak to the individual who called, watch and observe. Officers lack the brains to do anything beyond simple tasks.
Ah, but the policing tools like "paranoid delusion", "overactive imagination", and "lets pretend we were dealing with a completely different scenario" is the way cops look for crimes so that they can get their quota... *cough cough* I mean, "performance goals". After all, they don't know if that hot chick is smuggling drugs or not unless they do a full, thorough cavity search. I mean... you want to be protected from criminals right?
He doesn't know if he works there and is using that as an excuse. Not knowing anything is not evidence of a crime, no evidence of a crime no ras or probable cause
In NH the lawyers and chiefs DAs ect. Are all buddy buddy, my lawyer took my money and wouldn't defend me. Cops banged on my door for 2 hours then broke into my home for a "welfare check" all because I ran into my own mailbox and my neighbor hitched about it.. only way to win is money, and lots of it to fight these tyrants
Once violated, your rights can be upheld by courts of law; directly or on appeal. When that happens, legal precedent is set, (like Terry v Ohio) and training will now follow those guidelines. Without clear guidelines from the courts, or precise language in the written law, you get interpretations of the law, which vary from state to state, even county to county (assuming you have those), or town to town. Recently, active members of the auditing community have gotten action taken against officers, where the internal review simply slapped a wrist, and wagged a disapproving finger.
I got stopped at 2 a.m. as I drove away from my business. The cop told me that he suspected that I was burglarizing my business. Then he ran my tags, found out my name, and asked if I had any connection to my business. I told him to turn around and look at my building which had my full name in giant lighted letters on it. The city paid me $5,000 for the illegal stop and apologized. The cop was transferred out of my jurisdiction. It turned out that the cop was pissed at me because I chased him out of my parking lot late at night several times previously -- according to IA.
Yeah, that makes sense. Cops love to trespass. They love to LOITER on PRIVATE-PROPERTY. You'll always see cop-cars just hanging out in the parking-lots of stores and donut-shops and such while they're hunting humans for sport. Like this cop said, if a cop does it, it's not a crime. 😒
Many people forget the role of the executive branch of the government, it is to uphold the legislations and interpretations based off of the legislative and judicial branches of government
That was my first thought as well! At 4:34, the cop absolutely dismantles his own argument. Anyone working security would know that a garage door open in the middle of the night is suspicious and should be investigated, just in case. But, if you find someone inside with a calm demeanour, wearing PPE, lights blasting and with obvious clues that the person has been working on the vehicle (i.e. light under the car, tools scattered around said light, hood open, etc. there's no way in hell that it's an actual robber.
When opening my gym, I was there late as hell. It’s a super stressful time. There are dozens of things to do and you wonder if you made a good decision. If some ignorant cop comes to me with this, I’d lose it. He was great for keeping cool.
Yup the metal fabrication company I used to work for was open at all different hours, sometimes we would work during the day other late at night or early hours of the morning to finish of jobs or get them done by a deadline
I once was a janitor at a church... We had a late wedding event in the fellowship hall. I was buffing the floors at 11pm and cops came to investigate me. I went thru all this same crap. What criminal buffs and waxes a 2000 sf floor on Saturday night?
bad.. very bad.. but to be fair they don't think the camera matters because they actually believe that they have the authority of life and death over "regular citizens" in their minds they are our masters , our betters.. so they don't try to hide what they're doing because they don't believe it to be wrong..
I don’t have to imagine. I was beaten by a cop when I pointed out he illegally searched my vehicle back in the late ‘70s. When I filed a complaint, had over two dozen witness to the beating, his sergeant ignored the complaint and the witnesses.
Rodney King is a perfect example of how people were treated before cameras. Hell, even knowing they’re on camera, they STILL do this shit and try to twist it. I saw one where a cop was on camera, in perfect view of camera, planting drugs on a woman who was actively trying to get her life together. He played nice to her face, and arrested her. Charges were dropped, and he was fired and charged, but still. It’s disgusting that these are the people who signed up to “protect and serve.” Protect and serve, my ass.
It was absolutely terrible, I will admit that I was a knucklehead in my teenage years and early adulthood, the amount of times the police pulled me over on foot or in my car is in the hundreds if not thousands. I remember one day I got pulled over at gun point because someone who had their wallet stolen mistaken my black friend as the guy who stole it just cuz he had similar hair style and a red shirt. They actually took him to jail for a week until they finally looked at the cameras at where the robbery happened realized it wasn’t him. Buddy got a decent sized paycheck for that shit. Had police handcuff me so tight that my wrist would bleed. They put me in the back of a cop car with the heater on in the middle of summer. The amount of racism me n my friends encountered was absolutely insane. It was crazy to see body cams implemented, shit changed almost over night but somehow these cops still get away with it even if they are recorded
"It's not about ___" is one of the police's' go-to phrases to gain control back over a conversation. It doesn't matter to them that they are making no sense. They don't argue in good faith. They argue to gain control and obedience.
Such a joke... they act like victims after blatantly and constantly breaking the law and using brutality on people on a regular basis. Remember when cops started acting like children during the protests in 2020 and refusing to do their jobs? Because they were being criticized for using excessive force on people all the time? So ridiculous, talk about a victim mindset.
Not just officer Crawford, the other boys in this video for not taking accountability. You see at my job if I do something wrong, which everyone does eventually, you just admit to it. Even my kids know that, which is why the police officers in this video will always be boys.

Never, ever open the door for a cop, always speak to them from somewhere that is not an ingress or egress point and do not invite them in. If they say they have a warrant, ask to see the warrant FIRST, because unless there is a break order on that warrant, they do not have the right to break in.
This reminds me of the African business owner who were doing inventory overnight and the cop came because it was “suspicious” that people work overnight. Even if was late at night there’s nothing unusual about them working on into the wee hours of the morning to make things happen.
So the cops are the ones who are trespassing and breaking and entering. The cops acted like the robbers more than the dude just working on his car. He didn’t call them, and he’s clearly working on a car.
the only defence i can give them is the "concerning" factor. its unusual to may be there but not illegal. but they dont think they just take actions without actual thinking. And what if he had called the owner, and the owner said that he does not have permission to be in the business after hours. Then is it ok? This douche caused all this. This could have gone so much smoother

@heathboeddeker5401 yes the system needs a rework. Police think they can do whatever they want with no consequences. People are being oppressed and bullied and nothing is being done about it.
@@heathboeddeker5401 I am sorry, you misunderstood me. You are not innocent until proven guilty anywhere except for a court of law. ONLY in a court of law are you protected from the presumption of guilt. For instance, I can find you guilty of whatever I want, for whatever I want. Even with absolutely no evidence. Same goes for the cops. This is why it is soooo important to defend yourself. You don't get that protection until AFTER you've been arrested. And it is important to note, "presumption of innocence" and "innocent until proven guilty" are not explicitly stated in our constitution. The supreme court has ruled that the totality of the constitution affords us that. But it is not explicitly stated. In truth, future supreme courts could easily overturn those decisions, faced with just the right argument. That is a thing, as terrible as it would be, that *_CAN_* happen. So keep your guard up and defend yourself at all times. You are the only one who can.
They don't think that. They just want to run a name in hopes of getting an easy arrest where they just have to take him in without doing all the extra stuff that a non warrant arrest entails.
Frankly, I think a lot of the time they are just obsessed with getting their paperwork filled out “right.” They seem to feel there will be a problem if the write on the report form something like, “I spoke to a man who stated he was fixing his car and that he was authorized to be on the premises. I asked him if he would identify himself and he refused. As we had no probable cause to believe any crime was committed, we then ended our investigation.” I think it’s just a case they have it flipped on what they are supposed to do and/or they’ll get heat from supervisors for not getting a name to put on the report. And the latter may very well be the case; and if it is, then the problem is with the supervisors too. For whatever reasons, I just think police are not regularly taught that it’s ok to write “person refused to identify themselves” or maybe the less inflammatory “I did not obtain identification,” (but perhaps that makes an LEO feel they neglected something) on the report form in cases where they have no right to demand identification. Anyway, this situation seems to me an example of LEOs just wanting a name for the form; because I don’t think they had any suspicions after the door was answered.

If there’s one thing that this video teaches us, it’s that it serves no purpose to file a complaint with the police department, because they will always take their own side, and say that their officers are guilty of no wrongdoing. Just skip that step and go right to the lawsuit.
Oh it serves a purpose. But only in the Suit you bring later. It also forces them to acknowledge the complaint and leaves a paper trail. Or doesn’t, which is worse for them. Think a bit more broadly.

Cops are supposed to investigate crimes in search of suspects. Not people in search of crimes.
This would be like if a cop saw someone's front door open and said "well that must be trouble" and just wandered into their house with their weapon drawn.
Every time I don't think cops can shock me with their incompetence and corruption anymore... another video like this comes out.
Well said. 👏

Once violated, your rights can be upheld by courts of law; directly or on appeal. When that happens, legal precedent is set, (like Terry v Ohio) and training will now follow those guidelines. Without clear guidelines from the courts, or precise language in the written law, you get interpretations of the law, which vary from state to state, even county to county (assuming you have those), or town to town.

That was my first thought as well! At 4:34, the cop absolutely dismantles his own argument. But, if you find someone inside with a calm demeanour, wearing PPE, lights blasting and with obvious clues that the person has been working on the vehicle (i.e. light under the car, tools scattered around said light, hood open, etc. there's no way in hell that it's an actual robber.

@GJT-bq3hr lol my only mistaken ID experience- i was 15 years old, with just swim trunks and a towel because me and my 2 friends just got out of the pool. We were walking thru the parking lot without a shirt, dripping wet, and the cops stop us for a call for “people breaking into cars that match your description” my friends were white and 15 or 16 too, but one friend is 6’3 or so and he really stands out.
When we heard them say over the radio “we’re looking for 3 black males ages 30-35 stealing items from cars” I couldn’t believe how dumb the cops were. They still kept us their and gave us hell about not having ID’s (but we were swimming in my buddies apartments pool).
Then they act all surprised when they get hate as if they didn’t earn it…
Yes. They always want potential suspects upon which to pin future crimes in the area.
Cops are notoriously lazy and hate doing any actual work. When they say "investigate", they don't mean actually investigating, they mean assaulting whoever happens to be withing arm's reach, and they most certainly will never bother to look for a second suspect. 😒
Yes, and they will still try to blame you b because you didn't lick their boots and kiss their a$$!!!!
I don't see why we have to keep the same hours that cops want us to. I can work at 2 AM inside my house, why can't this man work at 2 AM inside this business?
He can. Should not of opened the door to these cops. Trying to reason or explain to a cop is like trying to tell a cat to speak his name
U.S. seems not to be a free.
@@ElmshornBoy - Sorry to disappoint but it never has been. The politicians and the gov't just BS you into thinking that.
I used to work for old navy when I was a teenager. We routinely had to work overnight for inventory. Never had a cop ask why I’m coming in and out the store at 3 am.
I once was working in my garage at 12am due to my car part coming in late and I needed to have the car ready for the morning to go to work. Police came and literally held me for an hr asking why I'm working late in my own home. They were upset because I had my headphones and didn't respond to them immediately. 😂
It’s actions like this that can cause people (like me) not to answer the door, shut the garage bay and ignore them.
Never ever open door for cops without a warrant. Period!
That's right! If I was in that situation I would have promply shut the roll up door and locked the other door and told the tyrants to go!!!
This poor man thought it was a friend winding him up 💔💔💔

I don’t think this guy would have, I think he thought one of his friends were messing with him

@@noneyabizz8337 NO! NEVER LEAVE YOUR CASTLE!

The large garage door opened about 2 inches is all that was needed here. No need for a face to face.
"Hello officer, everything's fine here, have a good night."
As someone who's worked 14 hour night shifts, this event would royally piss me off.
Suspicion alone does not constitute a crime.
Yeah, this cop really screwed up. He manufactured his own PC, conducted an unlawful search, violated this man's rights and then "tried" to justify his unlawful actions. This officer is a huge liability to his agency and the city. Retired police officer here.
You have ALL been trained to be criminals.
@ThomasArcher-qu3nh Are you brand new?
These cops have the mentality of "I can go wherever I want, and do whatever I want, and you have to shut up and take it.
That's the reason we need to tell them to kiss our ass
There are also police who do entrapment and literally manufacture crime. There is a lot of it.
Seemed more like "our intentions are good so anything we deem necessary is perfectly fine." Sorry, sometimes your investigation gets hampered by people's rights to not be harassed on their own property.
@AuditTheAudit should have a non profit that the channel viewers get to vote on where the money donated goes towards pursuing cases like these or ones more unjust
It can even go as far as that the ones who are victims understand a percentage will go to them but after a couple of cases pursued a million plus would EASILY be won which would help go towards even more cases of unjust cop actions
Is there anything like this already? I would think not as an influencer in this field is rather new

I’m ganna make a Reddit post actually I think we have a separated there for this community, right?
I originally obviously thought of a GoFundMe, but with this type of fund them taking 50% or whatever they take, wouldn’t be adventitious , or perhaps a me as a Front for the awareness and a link at the bottom of every single one of his videos with a ability for listed at the end of every video
Honestly, I would donate towards that and I can only imagine how the community would feel knowing that a dollar or a five dollar or however, much cops like in their town who “ found themselves innocent” put to justice

If you didn't answer the door, I would have broke in 'because I'm the police'. This officer needs retraining.
There is a fundamental problem with this thinking. You are forgetting that the training is done by other officers that are doing the exact same thing. What you are seeing in this video is EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE TRAINED TO DO. This IS their training.
Firing!
The cop literally admitted to this at 14:16
It’s not a training issue, IMO. Cops act the way they do because they generally face little punishment for violating people’s rights.
needs to be fired and spend a bit of time in jail. ftfy
No reports of a breakin, no sign of a break in, no visible sign of entry, no alarm…. No reasonable suspicion that the premises had been broken in to. FTP

The only burglary that occurred is by the boys in blue. Matter of fact, it was an armed forced intrusion. Felony.
Qualified immunity has to go.
And it was also private property
Right? I would have said, "There is a Ring camera right here. The owner is alerted every time someone comes in or out. Don't you think he would have called you if there was a break in? Using the garage at my place of work to fix my car, which I've explained to you and is evident by what you see, IS NOT A CRIME. nor is there reasonable suspicion that I'm about to commit a crime. Therefore, you have no right to stop and identify me. Leave or this will be a lawsuit."
Don't open the door in the first place. Then ask for a warrant.
"I'll be contacting the owner to make sure you have permission in the morning" lol. They just have to try and get the last word.

Whenever an officer engages in “copxplaining”, you know they are full of it.
The second the officer entered the premesis without permission, anything he would've found in there to begin with would've been excluded and inadmissible in a court of law. An officer cannot enter a premises even of the door is wide open.

guilty until proven innocent in their eyes
Most true thing I've heard all day, which is bad because my day just started 😂
To be fair, you are innocent until proven guilty IN A COURT OF LAW.
@@danielduncan6806suppose to be that way but it hasn't been that way for over 20 years now. Arrested first than charged while they do investigation.
Never ceases to amaze me that these cops think that getting the guys ID is going to remove suspicion.
They don't think that. They just want to run a name in hopes of getting an easy arrest where they just have to take him in without doing all the extra stuff that a non warrant arrest entails.
@@bpdmf2798 is there any downside to showing ID ? I never really understood why so many people don't wanna show ID
Right! Like what if the guy had a fake i.d.
ID's is like crack to the police and they act the fool when they dont get it.
What is being taught to these jackholes??? It’s alarming that there are so many videos of these people misunderstanding the law. Thanks for your work
Very ironic how the office wants to make sure no one is breaking and entering and trespassing, but in the same breath does exactly that. What a clown
Since when is it not possible to work after midnight? Where is this law?? I already know the department is gonna find that the cops did nothing wrong and give these guys a promotion from their “great detective work” of a guy just working on his car at his own job.
If I were him, I’d have been like “how do I know you are real cops? It’s late, why are you working this late? That’s suspicious”.
Exactly. Do they identify the workers at Dunkin Donuts at 2 in the morning?
Yeah t h at a new one for me too I am going to have to remember if I am working on my car after midnight and someone knocks on my shop door, do not under any circumstances open the door!!!!!

The cop also committed battery by pushing him out of the way to gain access. It’s very common for a burglar to break into a business, bring their personal vehicle to work on, and then steal stuff.
Well duh!
It's crucial to recognize that a civil rights violation isn't just a breach of ethics; it's a criminal offense.
True- Illegal/unlawful entry, trespassing, harassment, kidnapping, and terroristic threats for beginners.

In some cases even a promotion.
You've never worked with unions, have you?
Your statement is apples to oranges, I worked directly with unions if a worker caused the company millions would they keep their job? What if they killed someone, whether guilty or not guilty? Could they keep there job after multiple infractions and complaints? Do unions have qualified immunity as a vail to escape mistakes. Lastly, as a licensed worker depending on your interactions with the general public you would need insurance, name one cop that have an insurance policy.
thank you for exposing the idiots. i just wish they would watch this to find out how ignorant they are!
If there’s one thing that this video teaches us, it’s that it serves no purpose to file a complaint with the police department, because they will always take their own side, and say that their officers are guilty of no wrongdoing. Just skip that step and go right to the lawsuit.
I'm guessing that it helps when you do file the lawsuit, but I'm not a lawyer.
Oh it serves a purpose. But only in the Suit you bring later. It also forces them to acknowledge the complaint and leaves a paper trail. Or doesn’t, which is worse for them.

The fact that the police department also backed these oath breakers just shows that the entire department is corrupt to the core and needs a termination sweep from the top to the bottom. I hope he files a lawsuit against them!
This same fucking thing happened with me working at my jobsite (new residential construction) ended up having 7 cops surround me, detain me, force me to give ID, they forced me to give them my contractors number to “see if it’s ok I’m working at midnight” they tried calling him past midnight and they even went in and searched my jobsite without a warrant.
I was still detained after showing my ID, showing the invoice I just sent 15 minutes before they showed up with my name, company (wearing my company hoodie covered in drywall dust) the address, ect. I gave sooo much information proving I’m just doing my job and I was detained for another 20 minutes or so.
All of this went down before I started watching these videos and knew my rights.
