- How long does a Bass live? The average is anywhere from 4-8 years depending on water conditions and food availability. In perfect conditions, bass in northern climates have reached nearly 15 years of age, and in the south, up to 11 years of age.
How Fast Do Bass Grow? The average is about 1/2 lb per year of live however, this can be significantly increased if there is a surplus of food (up to 2lbs per year in waters with large bait populations).
So, that 4 lb bass you caught could be anywhere from 3 to 10 years old and a 10lb trophy bass could be anywhere from 8 to 14 years old, depending on the quality of the environment.
