My 1st ever concert was seeing the Rolling Stones. The year was 1966, at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. Hard to believe they are still Rock and Rolling nearly 60 years later. Love it!!!
Yes they old but they like rock n roll and they still have the will and ability to play …. So why not…. And it seems like lots of people come to see them play So why not 👍
@@tonycarpenzano3060 From u.k. I worked with Pino Paladinos brother in law, for 35 yrs. And my two sons who are now in their mid 30s, both played and still play bass in separate rock bands off and on. They were in their late teens and had been playing a couple of years. And I told them who I worked with and of course they didn’t believe me. So I told my pal and he said leave it with me, about two weeks later he handed me a large brown envelope containing. Signature plectrums, two sets of bass strings,a letter of encouragement, and a John Mayer C.D. the band he was with at the time. You should have seen their faces when I threw the envelope on the table after dinner that night. My pals sister got a job with the B.B.C. and that’s how she met Pino. My pal and I are both retired now but we speak occasionally on the phone. It was a nightmare for me when my lads had separate gigs same night miles apart me being unpaid roadie! But that’s another story. Take care.
@@EdBenji And they were a flash in the pan to most us because they worked hard and toured Germany and other European countries regularly for at least 10 years before we ever heard of them and not to long after that they were sick of each other and couldn't play the albums they made if they had wanted to with out carrying a bus of trained symphony musicians with them and they were not going to pay all of those people to tour or even pay some one to put a tour that big together as far as travelling musicians go aside of Broadway, Ice shows and things of nature with a huge cast. I loved the Beatles but the truth is their success as live playing musicians didn't flourish all that great because they rarely toured anymore because they has so much money they didn't have to. They all grew into the men that they had become during these years, recorded a lot and fought a lot but played very few live shows.
From u.k. Good comment of yours. Big fan here of the mick Taylor period. Not the same after that only my opinion. They made one album with wood that was any good and that was some girls. Are they tiresome or what? Going through the motions! Whoa that’s done it! Cabaret time!
and that is why they deserve to have a good retirement. However, they keep rolling. Because Rock and Roll is made up of two things, one is playing rock, or composing and playing rock, the other is rolling. And these guys are rock and roll. Making rock is easy, the hardest thing is to keep rolling (recent words by Keith Richards). Therefore, these guys are not honoring rock (which I myself pick up the guitar now and do a bit of), but they are honoring the most difficult part of the rock and roll expression, which is to keep rolling. Regardless of the burden it carries, the weight of naming their company referring to that. May be that are better Rolling, and may be because they know that, they exploit the best part of themselves, like anyone would. It is the intact show that they maintain, not the level of composition (perhaps they have retired from that and well deserved it or have, and managed to achieve retirement only in 10 years, when it is normally achieved after 30 years of work, they have merit). The important thing is that they do not consider themselves retired in continuing to roll. What makes it more complicated is that it is a group of people, and holding it together. It is common for a person to never consider themselves retired, but when they require union it is with greater difficulty. Therefore, that it has been their best 10 years that have allowed them to continue filming, interacting with young and not so young artists, they should be grateful to have enjoyed 10 years of such inspiration, and that people continue paying for veils, thanks to those 10 years (maybe I think there were more than 10, adding stages, interrupted), but rock is a business, and they can't disappear, and come back, you have to continue being there. Rock is 1) releasing records, 2) promoting them, 3) presenting them. And they keep doing that, 1) they released an album, 2) they went with Jimmy Fallon and 3) they went on tour. They are a rock and roll band, they maintain the essence, they play in small places too, and also they make movies, I went to see them 9 times, in Buenos Aires 7, and in Madrid 2, one didn't have a ticket, but I went anyway and the security let me pass (we offered the security guy some money and he told us that he wasn't going to risk his job, but he turned around and didn't control us, he spent a while without controlling us, we looked at each other and said "he's letting us pass!" I told two friends, and they were able to spend the next day in Madrid and then another in Barcelona, both of them were able to pass without ticket, each of those are other anecdotes about them. They remember things from when one did it as a teenager, and was more of a rocker. The Rolling Stones are a rock and roll experience.
@@Hernan527Well said. And I think about how many decades they did it for the fans to and to earn a living. They gave a lot to the world as artists. You can tell Mick really admires and respects her.
The Rolling Stones never forgot who they borrowed from - :) they deserve their success!!!
Irma Thomas catalogue is incredible. Not many hits but just incredible songs. Give her a deep dive, she is truly worthy of greater recognition.
I love this! I never imagined that the Stones would take time to rehearse in a tent back stage, but you do what you need to do to stay on top.
don't forget the cameraman, it's also promotion video
This was so fun to see in person.
Great performances all around.
80 years old. All my respect and admiration. Ageless ppl devoted on rock n roll. ❤

Very Cool ! They should videotape these sorts of these things more often ! Musicians can be Gods, but they're regular people too !
Love it, Philly in June can’t wait.

Can't disagree with that. They are the greatest rock n' roll band ever & it's not Led Zeppelin. Though The Who are my all time favorite.
