Freddie loved his fans almost as much as his fans love him 🥰 Must admit that crowd is an amazing sight to see. They were chanting Brian when he was doing his solo ✌🏼 Queen was loved and still is. Once in love with Queen always in love with Queen♥️ ♥️
How very loved this man was/is. ❤All I can say is, thank God dear Freddie used his powers for good....otherwise the World would have been in big big trouble.
Queen were a huge hit in Brazil and their performances at the Rock in Rio festival cemented their appeal. The shows on 12th and 18th of January attracted the biggest crowd Queen ever played to, with an estimated 250,000 to 500,000 people in attendance each night. What's really amazing is that their national language is Portuguese, yet they sang it perfectly in English. Only Freddie could inspire that.
One of the largest crowds recorded at that time! Over 250K 😮 Queen took to the stage at 2am .. Wow!! Everything is perfect here including Freddie’s expression of love for the fans! Queen loved their fans .. LAS PALABRAS DE AMOR (TOTP) was written for their South American fans!! 👏👏👏
I have read that Freddie was thrilled when the crowd took over singing this song...but here, it was not entirely expected due to the language difference == so while the crowd did lots of it, Freddie may have been signaling to Brian that they did not know this portion and so he would proceed. Yes, very emotional concert - one that both audience and band will always remember.
According to Roger, the crowd at this show was about 300,000 people. Around the world, the crowds sing this song during the shows no matter their native language. I love these crowd interactions with the band and Freddie. Can you imagine conducting 300,000 people singing your song?
Can anyone imagine the pressure involved in sitting alone on a stool infront of that many people and playing the opening solo on the technically difficult 12 string acoustic guitar.
I don't think he was angry, Hon... I've always wondered why he's looking back at Brian here, too. Probably just some kind of visual communication between the two of them... since they didn't have the audio aids like the earpieces back then, Freddie might not have been able to hear Brian's playing? Or he might just look tired because it was between 2:00-3:00 A.M.(!) in the middle of the night. (They did two shows at Rio... both of them started at night, at 2:00 A.M.) There's an interview w Fred & a reporter after the show, and he was in a GOOD mood then. There were at least 250,000 present. It could've been as many as 400,000. (One commenter who was there, estimated 300,000 and explained that there was an "open gate" so that ticket holders could freely come-and-go, so they could also be outside the gate and still listening... The whole festival was a week long - Queen played at the opening & at the closing a week later. (So, on January 12th & on the 19th.) I've read that there were actually half a million tickets sold... (The show that Freddie WAS in a BAD MOOD during the whole making-of, was 1981 Montreal. He was so upset during that show (it was actually two nights; we just have combined video for one show)... I've read that no visitors were even allowed in the dressing room!)
In Montreal, Freddie was not mad at the other members of the band; BUT he was very mad at the production company and annoyed with the film crew. Yet, the band did what they always do --- give 100% to their audience...that concert was GREAT!
In Montreal the whole band was annoyed by the film director and the crew. The audience was told to be quiet and seated 😮😮 (like that is possible on 👑concert) and Queen should perform both nights as same as possible... 😮 That made Freddie so angry that the second night he appeared at stage bearfoot wearing just white short shorts 😅 a red bandana and a heat 😂😂😂😂 Brian and Roger a few years ago managed to buy out the footage of both nights and Queen production managed to separate both nights and clean the mess more than 40 years later. The positive side of the 81 Montreal footage was a top quality film so that's why it is so clear and amazing quality.
Anything but angry. Just amazed. He was looking at Brian, probably giving him a cue.

Now this is what you call crowd participation!!

Queen members used looks, signs, signals, & gestures on stage to signal to each other. Or could be a signal to the stage crew!!
I don't think he was angry, just amazed that a 250,000 Portuguese speaking crowd could sing such good English.. Matt..
Gotcha!! He just looked angry and i was like uhhhh why thoooo
I hadn't thought of that!😄
@@marciebulsaraorcutt Hi well Marcia that's just my take on it but I don't see any other reason he would be angry.
I read estimates that the crowd was around 400k, but I don’t think anyone knows. Probably easier to say how many acres of people!
@@Matt-lg1te Right, I totally AGREE.
Wow 🤩 beautiful sweet Freddie ❤️ we still love you Freddie ❤️
Not angry, probably surprised that this crowd of people that mostly doesn't speak English was singing every word of the song back to him.
Gotcha ! Thank you for clearing that up for me !

Honestly no lol ! I cannot imagine that cause it’s so amazing

12 STRING!?! Holy poopsicle
I don't think he was angry, but he WAS hot and sweaty.
For sure he was HOT 🥰
I think Freddie was just overwhelmed with emotion that they new the song. He would never be angry at his fans.
