James, the SV Womble family seems like really nice people! Every time you showed them there had smile. Even when the gent was conducting boat projects he was smiling. This is the type of friends I need.
I've been absorbing sail-cruising videos a lot lately, seeing if I might actually go myself after many years off the water. Most of this viewing centers on boats themselves but in seeing this content I'm struck by the subtle but tangible difference at Sailing Triteia. There is a difference; a much more film-like quality to your work, James, that seems to stem from the more genuine approach to the lifestyle, experience, and pursuit. While so many channels go completely overboard trying too hard, and so many others fill my 50" screen with loud faces saying not much of anything at all, ST is always relaxing, engaging, and somehow more vivid. ST is both low-key and invigorating, which is not just unusual for the genre, it's genuine film making, even as genuine and understated as the channel is. I just love it, and I hope you keep doing it as long as you please, which I guess could be for years. Who knows, maybe the support community feels the same way and keeps you in boats and dreams indefinitely. I know I'll be aboard. This is the best sailing channel I know of.
Thank you for this very kind and well considered review of the channel. 🙏🏻 I just make videos that I would enjoy watching and figure there are some others out there that would enjoy the same as well. Thanks again 👍🏻
There’s great value in being able to appreciate what someone else has while still being perfectly content with what YOU have. There’s no real peace in life if you’re constantly searching for the “next great thing”…
James, I'd like to compliment you. At first I was taken aback by the guages and the tats. I had negative thoughts. I kept watching. Yours is one of my favorite channels now. Your more "real" for lack of my poor wordsmithing. Thank you for what you do and what you have taught me about acceptance others choices. On a side note, a jillion years ago I followed the Dead around for a couple hundred shows and probably looked weird to those I encountered. Should have learned something then...
A cup of tea always solves any problem, my parents were English/Welsh it was a ritual and a way to slow down, talk and listen. Great views and video, thank you
Truly living everyones dream! Imagine being in paradise everyday, no rush hour traffic, no boss breathing down your neck, no bustling family, no mortgage, just freedom. I need to make this happen!
James, I feel exactly the same as you when it comes to monohulls and multihulls. Also the sizes. I'm so happy for my 28 long keel solid boat and have no intensions changing it. Thanks for the wonderful video and the effort you put it producing it.
It's neat how I've watched videos with this couple, very cool people, and yours, and you all meet here n there, so cool, I also watched an older video with you and Sam Holmes, you all know each other lol, ✌️
Catamarans have their place, every design has its good and bad points and every boat is a compromise. One thing about cats though is you will need deep pockets relative to the same size monohull.
Hey James thanks for yet again another awesome episode the way you showcase the locations you are looking at is incredible my friend! Absolutely loving this adventure of NZ! Thank you James!!!!
Your hair looks good! Aww, I love to hear someone say how much they love what they have & theyre not looking to go bigger , cause its not always - better.Lookin @ him standing on deck - it IS massive! My Mother was British, yep, always tea.DAMN that... was Just GORRGeous !!! Whoooooo! Thank you ! 🌊
Eefy goergioous, whichever you want to spell it! I will do a tourist thing on the northern island probably next year, it is a fantastic destination. And so clozed to us Ozies!!!
That was soooo good. I love watching how people work together on a boat and it was startingly funny to watch that sail come down so fast too. NZ is a really beautiful island, with some fascinating and complex geology. Thanks to you and Dale and Katrina.
I totally understand the "out of my comfort zone" concept. I'm a bit the same myself but on this occasion it might have been the best thing you could have done. Looks like you had a fantastic time with fantastic people.
Such cool people and beautiful place to explore. The people you’ve met so far have been awesome. Hopefully I’ll meet some of them when I get to cruising levels. For now, I have my flying bucket lists! 😂
Interesting you mention painter lines, I work at a canoe camp way up in Vermont and we have painters and they run off the bow and they're blue and white. And we never knew why they called them painters I always thought it was like a brown horse with white splotches is called painted. Digging your videos way up in the hills!! Thanks for doing what you do!
I once crewed on a 65 ft cat on a delivery from Phuket to Bali, my first time on a cat. It was the most uncomfortable 3 weeks I've ever spent on the water.
@@SailorJames technology is ahead of that theory. You don’t need heat just light these days. So arctic etc also fine. In fact a lot of the bases there are solar. A bit of investigation and you will see people circumnavigating the world solar only no generators etc. no sail cost and maintenance or effort. No motor repairs fuel and noise. Tell me a sail or launch motor that gives a 10 year warranty like silent yachts offer on their cats.
@@SailorJames you obviously don’t have any knowledge of technology. Looks up silent yachts. Or top 5 solar yachts 2023. You have large cats that can sail day and night up to 19 knots with their own water makers and electric tender charging electric fridge freezers TVs. Never have to fuel up or land only for food. The future is here and like the telephone will only get better month after month year after year. I remember hearing about EV cars thinking so limited won’t catch on. Now t drive one with 600km ramge and it’s already out dated by 1000km range. It’s really a battery tech race and there are some amazing batteries coming up.
That’s always been the plan, to sail across the Pacific and sell it when they reached Australia. They will be buying an Aluminum monohull back in Europe to sail in higher latitudes
Hello James! I have always wondered if it is more difficult to get seasick on a catamaran compared to a monohull. Now that you have tried it, what do you think?
He is a con man. Boat was in fine condition and he refused to answer questions about the boat, gave the dog away as soon as he was “rescued” him nor the dog were thin. Also there is info on Reddit talking about how he previously claimed raw food cured his cancer
@@SailorJames definite con man. He admitted to making contact with his sister twice a day using is Garmin iReach Messenger. His rig was intact and he had his sails so even if he'd lost all his navigation equipment as claimed he could still have sailed east back to land using the sun during the day and heaving to or drifting at night, assuming he had to hand steer. Not sure how he intended to reach French Polynesia in the first place.
Can you tell. What are the fees. When u dock in any water . To another country . Passport check immigrations?. And I want to crew in a sailboat can you guide me please . I am in chciago
Good to see an American cousin getting educated on the finer points in life,, a good cup of tea every hour,, Its what built a world wide Empire ~ until those pesky Yankee rebels spoiled the party 😃😄😀

I'm learning how to sail on my Hughes 38 and after spending 6 weeks with my makeshift lazy jacks on my mainsail, I'm so jealous of their system lol
I was amazed at how quickly it fell 😂

Glad to see your enjoying time in NZ nice to have friends after all that solo sailing greetings to all

Cats are amazing. Looking forward to travelling in a solar only version they look like the next evolution
I don’t see “solar only” being possible outside of the tropics

I went to the UK thats true, but my Mother - morning, then Always @ 4PM.
Beautifull!; why do those boats have 2 helms?
It’s so wide you need to boats for driving the boat and being able to see and especially when docking
Are you coming down the east coast to Napier my friend?
When sailing in the ocean and you happen to cross into another country are there any procedures u have to follow for that?
Yes each country has their own clear in/clear out procedures
I love your stuff.what your doing is amazing..you need too check that cough tho
RE getting a cat: Living within your means is freedom. Have a boat you can afford.
I've detested cats for almost 50 years! 😂😂
Any word on why they're selling Womble? I saw it on Yacht World week or so ago.

How long did it take you to learn how to Sail. As far as just using the sail, understanding the wind, etc
I started sailing in 2014 and didn’t leave for my circumnavigation until 2021
Hello James!
I have always wondered if it is more difficult to get seasick on a catamaran compared to a monohull. Now that you have tried it, what do you think?
Katrina has been seasick plenty on their boat. You can’t really tell coastally and the motion was very mellow while I was on board

What a boat. But for nearly a million dollars, I spose it aught to be!
What a great trip, will you be visiting the Australian coastline?
Yes I will be in Australia half of next year cruising the east coast

more narration less drone footage

Will u ever upgrade to a new sail?
I have all new sails already. Do you mean a new sailboat? Absolutely not.
