But HEY! most headphones now have foldable design. I got a pair of in-ear Soundmagic E10S with removable foam ear pieces. I forgot the company name for the foam ear pieces, but they're pretty nice since they actually do improve bass response. All of that together was about $45 for me and they're better than the Beats in-ear stuff.

I personally find the bass coming from big headphones is bigger, silkier; therefore much more joyful than that coming from in-earphones. And again, the soundstage, the depth, and the effortless to produce full sound even at low volume... And again the comfort. So, when it comes to joyful music listening and movie watching, I would definitely choose headphones over earphones.

They might be good, but any big headphones without a replaceable headphone cord is instantly a dealbreaker for me. I've had my studio headphones for many many years now and only had to replace the cord a few times after it got worn out, instead of spending hundreds of dollars for a new pair of headphones.

I own both headphones and earphones and i do agree with everything that Lew says except there's one thing that I'll always choose earphones over headphones. Everyday travel. Yes you may have a better experience with headphones, but they're so inconvenient compared to earphones. I'd rather have something that gives me pretty decent sound and I can throw into my pocket than a large item that gives good sound but I either have to take up space in my backpack or carry a case just for them. Also i like how low-profile earphones are in public.
There's more reason too: 1. Prolonged use of in-ear headphones hurt your ear. 2. Typically Bluetooth on the ear headphones are truly Bluetooth sets. in ear still has a wire in it anyway. 3. The bigger headsets help not only to listen music but also act as a cushion to help you cover your ears in cold particularly in colder region of US. 4. They are difficult to lose. Unless, they are stolen because of their size. 5. We lose dear buds easily after regular use. The padding cannot be simply lost anyway. That was my review. Please comment if you have your own ones...
I prefer over-ear headphones over earphones, but one problem I often have when shopping for headphones is size; My head is too small for most headphones. Cheaper headphones often fit better for some reason.
I just got mine two days ago.. it took so long to be shipped .. but I'm finally enjoying them.. its mostly made of plastic but I guess the point in this guys was the listening experience.. I have never owned open back headphones before.. but to be honest I wish they have more volume but in general they are fantastic.

Im watchig this with some random 3$earbuds but idk if its just me but earphones have better sound quality. Headphones under 100$ dont have that sound quality as these 3$ earphones. So if ur lookif for sound quality and dont want to spend over 100$ for heaphones then earphones are solution
I work in the cold or frozen in a grocery store overnight and idk I wasn’t using over the ear headphones to keep my ears warm all these years after used buds for so long.
Regularly, earphones come with different attachments so there must be one which fits in your ear and doesn't fall out. Second, if you clean your ears sometimes, them earphones barely get waxy. Third, if you hear music extremely loud, than it might of course damage your ears but you can also turn the volume up of over ears. If you have good in ears, they will also produce very nice sound.
Nah they still slip out regardless on what size of tip you use , the only difference to using a tip that’s compatable to your ear are that they don’t fall off easier or don’t slip out too much. They either hurt my ear like hell or just goes dangling off the edge of my ear
To bad your not a little more serious reviewer, really wanted a real in dept review of these.. but i guess MD just want to sell as many units as they can, otherwise they would send them to like zeos from Z reviews or to tyll from innerfidelity.. truth is if one of them would recommend these headphones for the price i would buy at least 3 pairs as gifts. don't expect them to be a HE-560 planar's, but just very good for there price point. not gonna buy them like that don't care that they are only 100$.

There is another reason I guess which is health related, the in ear earphones block the ear canals totally, so the bass directly heat out ear drums, in case of on the ear/over the ear headphones, they hit the ear drums in less amount than the in ear earphones.
I use my Audio Technica ATH M50x for gaming all the time. Bigger headphones are much better gaming, because the separation makes it a lot easier to hear where gunshots, footsteps explosions,etc are coming from.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD598, and I've lost count of how many times I was forced to take them off and check if I pulled the cord out. The sound-staging is so incredibly wide, they disappear off your head.

You should've added the health reason... Generally speaking every kind of headphone is really bad for your inner ear, but with over ear headphones the driver is further away from your ear and it has more air around to release all that energy, and if you have closed back headphones you need lower volume, meaning less pressure on your ear, meaning less harm, meaning you won't be deaf at 40 :) I myself own the ATH M50x and an AKG K-141, both around $130-180 and I couldn't be happier :)

I just got mine two days ago.. it took so long to be shipped .. but I'm finally enjoying them.. its mostly made of plastic but I guess the point in this guys was the listening experience.. I have never owned open back headphones before.. but to be honest I wish they have more volume but in general they are fantastic.

Why do I have the feeling that these crappy headphones frequency response graph is BS I highly doubt they can play 20hz just as good as 50hz that response graph is very strange most headphones can't play 30hz much less all the way down to 20hz
+Legendary504 Most graphs are just approximation for the sound signature but Hifiman he-350s for 100$ is a deal you wont be able to beat in a long time on Massdrop. Hifiman has been able to give really high quality headphones for a reasonable price. Definitely not that much bullshit if any bullshit is present.

I had an ear infection once due to my overused usage of earphones.
Luckily I survived. Ever since then I always recommend to my friends to use headphones instead of earphones. Or at least don't overuse their earphones and clean their ears daily when they shower.

I work in the cold or frozen in a grocery store overnight and idk I wasn’t using over the ear headphones to keep my ears warm all these years after used buds for so long.

Regularly, earphones come with different attachments so there must be one which fits in your ear and doesn't fall out. Second, if you clean your ears sometimes, them earphones barely get waxy. Third, if you hear music extremely loud, than it might of course damage your ears but you can also turn the volume up of over ears. If you have good in ears, they will also produce very nice sound.
Nah they still slip out regardless on what size of tip you use , the only difference to using a tip that’s compatable to your ear are that they don’t fall off easier or don’t slip out too much. They either hurt my ear like hell or just goes dangling off the edge of my ear
You forgot the reason that those in-ear earbuds with rubber that rape your ear will damage them very badly due to the rubber enclosing your ear canal.

There is another reason I guess which is health related, the in ear earphones block the ear canals totally, so the bass directly heat out ear drums, in case of on the ear/over the ear headphones, they hit the ear drums in less amount than the in ear earphones.

I use my Audio Technica ATH M50x for gaming all the time. Bigger headphones are much better gaming, because the separation makes it a lot easier to hear where gunshots, footsteps explosions,etc are coming from.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD598, and I've lost count of how many times I was forced to take them off and check if I pulled the cord out. The sound-staging is so incredibly wide, they disappear off your head.

i disagree quite a lot i love in ear headphones because there not giant and i have used bigger headphones and they get uncomfotable quite quick unlike ear buds (for me anyways) it all a matter of preference

You should've added the health reason... Generally speaking every kind of headphone is really bad for your inner ear, but with over ear headphones the driver is further away from your ear and it has more air around to release all that energy, and if you have closed back headphones you need lower volume, meaning less pressure on your ear, meaning less harm, meaning you won't be deaf at 40 :) I myself own the ATH M50x and an AKG K-141, both around $130-180 and I couldn't be happier :)
