Both earphone and headphone have their own advantage. For earphone, the advantage is mostly about portability. Headphones are big and will take space inside your bag. But HEY! most headphones now have foldable design. Other than that, with earphone, you can get into a conversation while also listening to your music ' though you can probably do this with a headphone '. And earphones are cheaper than headphones because of their smaller driver and such. PS sorry for my bad English. But i do hope you guys understand my points.

But I assure you, this video is more about headphones in general than just that pair, and moreover, all of it is true (Screw that fake "multi driver true surround sound" gaming crap, doesn't work nearly as well as mid-high end headphones).. And that pair is damn near the most affordable enthusiast grade headphones you can get right now.

I got a pair of in-ear Soundmagic E10S with removable foam ear pieces. I forgot the company name for the foam ear pieces, but they're pretty nice since they actually do improve bass response. All of that together was about $45 for me and they're better than the Beats in-ear stuff.
+Frenetic souL they're not better than powerbeats though. Urbeats and tours are awful. Powerbeats are one of the best workout earbuds out there.

I personally find the bass coming from big headphones is bigger, silkier; therefore much more joyful than that coming from in-earphones. And again, the soundstage, the depth, and the effortless to produce full sound even at low volume... And again the comfort. So, when it comes to joyful music listening and movie watching, I would definitely choose headphones over earphones.

yeah I'm not an audiophile but headphones is like a spatial audio compared to earbuds. I use earbuds at outside or public but I always use headphones at home. headphones are also better with longer listening sessions.
The only reason earbuds are good is probably because you can share it with someone if you want to listen at the same time sharing the earbuds with each other

I just got mine two days ago.. it took so long to be shipped .. but I'm finally enjoying them.. its mostly made of plastic but I guess the point in this guys was the listening experience.. I have never owned open back headphones before.. but to be honest I wish they have more volume but in general they are fantastic.

I own both headphones and earphones and i do agree with everything that Lew says except there's one thing that I'll always choose earphones over headphones. Everyday travel. Yes you may have a better experience with headphones, but they're so inconvenient compared to earphones. I'd rather have something that gives me pretty decent sound and I can throw into my pocket than a large item that gives good sound but I either have to take up space in my backpack or carry a case just for them. Also i like how low-profile earphones are in public.

BTW if you want some alternatives around the same price, try the Philips SHP9500's for a more bass-centric option, or the Takstar Hi-2050's for a more high-centric signature.

Sennheiser HD800S' represent. Hurts to listen to dinky earbuds, and especially Beats headphones. Those Hifiman headphones are an absolute steal at that price. If anyone is on the fence, just get them.

The SPL vs. Freq graph is quite dynamic, with an almost ±15dB difference in the 3-5kHz range...not great. From the little research I've done, HiFiMAN does appear to have quality issues. I'm definitely not sold.
+Blaziken584 Bought iHip Pro B20 Bluetooth model at Walgreens on SALE for $12 USD, sounds just as good as my BOSE headphones. You can also buy them under the MAGNAVOX brand especially in European countries. Zeikos no longer distributes them in the USA anymore. One guy had some on eBay for $29.

I prefer over-ear headphones over earphones, but one problem I often have when shopping for headphones is size; My head is too small for most headphones. Cheaper headphones often fit better for some reason.

+Kai Widman Consider looking into the Audio-Technica ATH-AD500x series. Immensely comfortable and the little wings shouldn't have too much effect on your hair, since they're light and most of the hold comes from the pads. Low-bass high-centric sound signature though, in case that bothers you.

+Kai Widman They're very bass light and the sound signature features high frequency sounds with more clarity (cymbals, wind instruments, female vocals, etc.). A bass heavier option is the R70x from the same company, albeit tons more expensive ($350). A (much) less comfortable (they hurt after ~1 hour) cheaper bass-heavy option is Superlux HD668b.

They might be good, but any big headphones without a replaceable headphone cord is instantly a dealbreaker for me. I've had my studio headphones for many many years now and only had to replace the cord a few times after it got worn out, instead of spending hundreds of dollars for a new pair of headphones.

in ear monitors can be just as good as over the ears, it all depends on the brand.
You can also get ear tips made to fit your ear canal for maximum comfort, or you can get triple flange tips like I do when I opt for those kinds of headphones.
But I also don't share my headphones.

Why do I have the feeling that these crappy headphones frequency response graph is BS I highly doubt they can play 20hz just as good as 50hz that response graph is very strange most headphones can't play 30hz much less all the way down to 20hz

Hifiman has been able to give really high quality headphones for a reasonable price. Definitely not that much bullshit if any bullshit is present.

I would actually like Lew to make a comparison video on these HE-350 to a few other 100 dollar headphones since he seems to be into audio and if it's a good pick up to get these
1:50 it's the exact opposite for me, maybe because i don't buy or wear $300+ over ear headphones, but in ear ones never bother me and over ear one always bother me (after a while), plus your ear sweats, your hair get's messed up, etc.
Headphones i use: Sennheiser 518 (over-ear) and stock Samsung S3 (in-ear)
I'm using Sennheiser HD202 for the past 3 years, and i still consider to be pretty awesome.
I used to have the HD202 II's but I upgraded to the HD439.... SO WORTH IT

Lew, how is the sound neutrality on those headphones? Do they add their own bass and how good is the frequency range?
Regularly, earphones come with different attachments so there must be one which fits in your ear and doesn't fall out. Second, if you clean your ears sometimes, them earphones barely get waxy. Third, if you hear music extremely loud, than it might of course damage your ears but you can also turn the volume up of over ears. If you have good in ears, they will also produce very nice sound.
Nah they still slip out regardless on what size of tip you use , the only difference to using a tip that’s compatable to your ear are that they don’t fall off easier or don’t slip out too much. They either hurt my ear like hell or just goes dangling off the edge of my ear

There's more reason too:
1. Prolonged use of in-ear headphones hurt your ear.
2. Typically Bluetooth on the ear headphones are truly Bluetooth sets. in ear still has a wire in it anyway.
3. The bigger headsets help not only to listen music but also act as a cushion to help you cover your ears in cold particularly in colder region of US.
4. They are difficult to lose. Unless, they are stolen because of their size.
5. We lose dear buds easily after regular use. The padding cannot be simply lost anyway.

If there's one big speaker for each ear, how do they (over-ear cans) achieve such a surround sound stage?
The xtreme xplosives have 50 mm drivers as well and are only $50 -$70 and are really comfortable and are about half the price and the bass is very amazing. So let me ask you Mr. Therapy, what is the big difference? They are both very great headphones but I choose the xtreme xplosives.

I want to see 3 way over ear headphones with a 50mm driver for the lows, a smaller 12mm driver for the mids, and balance armature driver for the highs in the market.

Check out 64 Audio! They out perform any over-ear headphone I've ever used. The new ADEL technology makes them sound open back, airy, and wide plus it saves your hearing. AND multiple drivers make up for them being smaller (same goes for most high quality IEMs). I'd rather have 3 small low/mid/high drivers than one big driver.

Hi I love your channel and I'm not sure where I would do this but I was wondering if you know of any very loud and clear headphones or earbuds. I'm looking for a pair for my grandmother who is very hard of hearing. She won't really wear a hearing aid but I would like to see her to be able to enjoy listening to her tablet, radio or whatever. There is another reason I guess which is health related, the in ear earphones block the ear canals totally, so the bass directly heat out ear drums, in case of on the ear/over the ear headphones, they hit the ear drums in less amount than the in ear earphones.
I was really hoping for some indicator about whether the headphones are good or not. I saw these yesterday and can't find any early reviews to help decide.
I had an ear infection once due to my overused usage of earphones.
Luckily I survived. Ever since then I always recommend to my friends to use headphones instead of earphones. Or at least don't overuse their earphones and clean their ears daily when they shower.
Don't commit the same mistake as I have
Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Denon, Grado, Shure, Audio-Technica, Pioneer. Anyone feel free to recommend more to my "trusted headsets" list.
Philips, AKG, Audeze, Sony, Mr speaker and fostex.
