- A visit to Universal Studios Hollywood Backlot tram tour . After boarding this nearly hour long adventure it takes us thru movie filming history but also a bunch of key attractions such as Jaws , King Kong , Fast and Furious Supercharged , Earthquake and a special guest who lives in the Psycho house .

When i went when Wizarding world opened, the guide that it wasn’t actually bruce, because that shark worked. Tough to argue with that

20 years ago it was an animatronic Kong and that bridge moved. I'm so happy the subway part is still the same. Exactly how I remember it. The other train would move and the gas truck would crack in half. Jaws would come out onto the beach at the corner.... I think backdraft was there too

I'm 50 now and we went when I was 17. King Kong and the earthquake had literally just started 3 months before. It was the greatest thing I had ever seen at the time. You could feel the heat from the fire. And back then you also had the battlestar galactica fight you went through. Getting attacked by cylons was awesome
As a little kid in '78, we did the Universal Backlot Tour while on vacation. I'm amazed there are still parts of the tour that I fondly remember from that day!!! One thing I did like, was that the fire station is Station 51. Back then, I remember actually seeing Engine 51 and Rescue 51 on the backlot, when EMERGENCY! was a popular show. I'd love to be able to go back with my family, and show them a great memory!!!
Universal will charge you over $300.00 a head for the VIP studio tour which a majority of the time is spent in there prop/costume warehouses which you can visit for free if you set up an appointment a head of time...yeah really.
What's worse is Universal is a theme park with a few sound stages while Warner Brothers will give you a 4 hour tour which lets you explore "Working" sets, sound stages and visit sets like the famous "Friends" fountain.
Ever since i started working in the film industry I always try to give the "Film" lovers a heads up, if you want to see a "Real" studio go to Warner Brothers, and hers is the best part...
Its $50.00 a head :)

The best thing about the tram tour and the fast & furious scene is the part where Vin Diesel jumps on the helicopter hangs onto it and screams, "DON'T WORRY I GOT THIS!" as he's lifted away.
That poor tour guide seems like he was constantly fighting back a panic attack

This tour was really fantastic! :)
Especially I like the flood station area!
But I couldn't hear the introduction then because I was poorer at English than now

This is by far the best back lot tour ride video I've seen. I never knew that courtyard was used to film the classic Universal monster movies.

I rode this when I was a kid. I was kinda bored. But Then we got to the earthquake/truck part....and because the tour guide acted like it wasn’t part of the show, I started crying and got so freaking scared. Eventually, I calmed down...but damn....what a shock that part was considering I couldn’t wait for it to be over just before that part!

Other man at the bar: I put a woman's body in the trunk and pull out a knife and run after tour buses. I do that 7 days a week, several times a day.

I went on this ride as a kid King Kong scared me as a child but now don’t scare me as much it was a great ride.

Always wanted to go on this studio tour. Took the family to California and we took the tour in August 2019. It was an absolute blast. Highly recommended.

When I last rode the backlot tour at USH they were breaking down The Flintstones set! I just got to watch the full video. That was fun man. Thanks for sharing.

The King Kong ride is so cool! When I went to Universal, it shut down right before the dino fight ended. It was pretty weird, but the rest of the ride worked fine!

That was so much fun Adam! Thanks for taking me along for the ride. I went on that ride eons ago in about 1989 and it's cool to see they still have the BART Earthquake part of it. It still occasionally pops into my head when I'm riding through the underground stations and the tunnel under the Bay into SF on BART. The other thing that stuck me was how insanely clean the station looked on the lot. Then again it's been almost 30 years so it might have gotten a little dirty since then.

So I don't know if you were aware of this, but behind the cabin section of the plane on the War of the Worlds set is the Operations Building from the Lost World, second movie in the Jurassic park series. You can just make out the tower and part of the roof in the background at 13:45. The building has sense collapsed and been removed however.
I'd have to say one of my favourite things on the tour was The Great Outdoors house. They should have had the bald headed killer bear jump out lol

Universal Studios Hollywood looks so much more fun than Universal Studios Florida. I love the one in Florida and go about once a week at least but the park over there has so much more to it it looks like. The Transformer at the end was awesome 😂. They are fun to watch people interact with.
Orlando's park isn't a real working studio in which Hollywood's is, so that makes the latter more enjoyable.
It's actually a real transformer is what the people don't know his not an actor nor paid to be there.

When I was about 12, my family experienced the ORIGINAL "King Kong Encounter" at Universal Studios in Hollywood. With all due respect to the miracles of CGI, the original ride was 10,000% better than what I just saw in this video. It featured a 30-foot animatronic Kong that was quite convincing as he tore into our vehicle. You can see footage of the original ride right here on UA-cam.
They say things get better with reiteration, but that is not true in this case.

I agree. didn't the oil truck catch fire too in the original? It's been so long but I miss the original. The shark/jaws attack was on a boat in the water and I really thought it was going to get me. I was probably only 6 then but still...memories. I haven't been since.
