People nowadays don’t even know that slavery only existed in a few states and was intended to be stomped out since the signing of the US constitution.
Im fact founding fathers had planned to ban slavery in the original draft of the constitution, but 3 slave states wouldn’t agree and it had to be unanimous. We weren’t in any place back then to start a civil war.

Worst rap name ever 😂
Wait, that's what LL Cool J stands for?
@@kenyasmith1995 yeah lmaoo
You know how this could've been a good song? If there was some actual progression. Have Brad Paisley just think the Confederate Flag is cool in the first verse. In the second verse, he'd read up on what slavery and the Civil War was like and start questioning if he should keep using the rebel flag. Have the guest rapper (whether it be LL Cool J or anyone else) tell him about his experiences with racism and how it relates to the Civil War. Finally, in the final verse and chorus, Brad Paisley is convinced to get rid of the Confederate Flag even if it pains him to do so.
Actually, the ironic thing is that Paisley is from West Virginia. That state used to just be part of Virginia, but broke away because those people owned very few slaves and didn't want to be saddled to the Confederacy. West Virginia was given statehood in 1863.
Except that would go completely against his target demographic. This song was specifically aimed at the “I’m not racist. I just want the world to move on from racism” crowd.
This was not about making any kind of difference. It was about selling records and profiting off the confederate flag conversation.
The song just SCREAMS “I’m a closeted racist!”
Is that bench shrapnel I see?
Even more specifically, what I hear the song screaming is, "I insist on continuing to play to my racially insensitive white fanbase! It's my bread and butter!"

Another contradiction is that he singing about the Confederate flag and being a son of that. He was born and his from West Virginia and the way West Virginia broke away from the Confederacy's and the Confederate State of Virginia. So technically he's a son of a place that was against that red flag he sang about
When I lived in Wyoming, there were a bunch of people that flew the flag and used confederate bumper stickers. You can try to re-appropriate a Confederate symbol to stand for what you love about the South, but you have to have very little respect for all the people bugging you about it to not even give it a second thought. You can show Southern pride in your cooking, adorable dialect, affinity for pickup trucks, and whatever other stereotypes have nothing to do with being racist. It’s not hard.

I honestly get what Paisley and LL were trying to say and accomplish with "Accidental Racist," but this song is a prime example of "heart in the right place," but horribly executed. As they would say in the South, "Bless their heart."
It was a similar attempt at giving incites into racism from different point of views.
(eg. Real VS stereotypical experience.) Kinda like what Joyner Lucas did in "I'm not a racist" except they missed their mark and Joyner executed his perfectly.

So basically, this song can be summed up as:

LL COOL J: "Aw hey, bro, it's okay, I know YOU'RE a really cool white dude most of the time! And look - I got *my* jewelry and *my* millions, so I guess that just proves racism is all gone now anyway!" 🤦♀️
