I was at the CAAS where Frank, Tommy and Joscho met each other for the fist time. It was quite a moment. In a vendor room where Frank was performing, he invited Joscho up and they did this number along w/Josh Pinkerton on mandolin. Then, there was a big concert in a main hall and Tommy, Frank, Joscho and Richard all played together. Another year, it was Joshco, Romane, Richard and John Jorgenson all playing minor swing. nice
Who else is playing? A very special performance by Joscho Stephan & Frank Vignola @ Eddie Lang Jazz Festival on august 6th, 2011. Joscho Stephan, guitar Frank Vignola, guitar Günter Stephan, guitar Vinny Raniolo, guitar Sebastian Reimann, violin Max Schaaf, double bass Joscho Stephan 4et meets Frank Vignola with Vinny Raniolo @ Eddie Lang Jazz Festival 2011
Yes there is a clip/clips of it. And it is AMAZING. They are still some of my favorite all time vids up on UA-cam. Just type in Vignola Trio with Joscho. AMAZING!!!
Bravo Frank Vignola,beautiful!
He's probably the most skilled in terms of speed and accuracy. And I'm sure he's a great improvizer too. But at this speed it tends to escape my capacity for appreciation.
What the hell is wrong with the 52 people who gave this a thumbs down? Hmmmm. Perhaps it was a fit of jealousy because they can't even dream of playing this well.
Yes i know Frank and Tommy performed together and it was wonderful. But i said i wanted to see the 3 of them Frank Tommy and Joscho performing together.
@AdstarAPAD... make a trip to nashville the 2nd week of July and you'll see them at CAAS quite possibly. I was there the first year they all met and it was pretty cool.
What the flarck was that scat he was doing at 2:00 approximately sounds like some kind of finger style flourishing but that was one fell swoop and just kept going on
More than somewhat, sounds like, probably busking on street corners and playing for drinks in saloons. All in all, a pretty good amateur effort -- I wonder if they've looked into the possibility of performing professionally? The lead guitarists just need to work on their chops a little, that's all. The potential is there! Cheers. : )
Saw Joscho Stephan play in a converted ferry on the river Clyde in Glasgow a couple of years ago, he was about 23 years old and the audience numbered about 40 people. All of whom including me left spellbound, he's a wizard.
i hear wat your saying my friend, while im a big fan i understand it dosnt suit everybodys particular taste,im glad you recognize the time and devotion to their instruments that theyve put in,but before closing your doors completely i might know of a couple musicians you might like though, message me and ill let you know

Tons of talent on that stage!

This might be the best drug/highest high. Never get enough.
Did I hear Django cheer???
Spectacular!
tight! great stuff
incredible!!! :)
I wanna play like Frank when I grow up!
Joscho is the best Gypsy Swing guitars currently 👏 In general he's one of the best Jazz guitars out there
He's probably the most skilled in terms of speed and accuracy. And I'm sure he's a great improvizer too. But at this speed it tends to escape my capacity for appreciation.
I agree with you 100% I love the way he uses those neo classical, Yngwie Malmsteen type of diminished arpeggio's.
I agree!!!!
Love me some Frank Vignola! Need someone to solo after Joscho, Tommy E, Mark O'Connor etc? Send in good ol' Frankie.
These guys are swinging!!!!
uooooooou. muito bom (very good)
What the hell is wrong with the 52 people who gave this a thumbs down? Hmmmm. Perhaps it was a fit of jealousy because they can't even dream of playing this well.
Frank vignola is my friends dad and he plays for us all the Tim's
@kungfumonk007 mine,too! What a gem!
"Tico tico no fubá" at 2:14!!
Spot on!
YEEEHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
This is the coolest shit ever.
That's how it's done.
Supeeeer.....
Portentoso!
No doubt! The guitar player with the green shirt is in love with Joscho! well... I don't blame him! XD
Yes i know Frank and Tommy performed together and it was wonderful. But i said i wanted to see the 3 of them Frank Tommy and Joscho performing together.

vignola's solo is smooth
@gazgull Yep and i think i have seen them all :D
No one can touch Joscho
Wow that would have been something to see. Did anyone get it for Utube?
What the flarck was that scat he was doing at 2:00 approximately sounds like some kind of finger style flourishing but that was one fell swoop and just kept going on
django forever!
Virtuosity is virtuosity, whatever the instrument, even if the guy plays the electric guitar.
@AdstarAPAD Lots of videos with Frank Vignola & Tommy Emmanuel playing together
01:59 ...
They've played these instruments before haven't they?.
More than somewhat, sounds like, probably busking on street corners and playing for drinks in saloons. All in all, a pretty good amateur effort -- I wonder if they've looked into the possibility of performing professionally? The lead guitarists just need to work on their chops a little, that's all. Amateur? You don't know what you are talking about!
I think it was joke Ms.Hughes.
That's what I hoped for; however, Nuthine Athol''s comments went on too long to be considered as such.
violin not in shot, he was shades of Steph Grapelli.. but.. loved it
я думаю свинг так не играют Не какой Культуры исполнения.
Have you listened to Django? Also, Frank is American.
i hear wat your saying my friend, while im a big fan i understand it dosnt suit everybodys particular taste,im glad you recognize the time and devotion to their instruments that theyve put in,but before closing your doors completely i might know of a couple musicians you might like though, message me and ill let you know
Love the godfather intro
Fast and melodic
Great technical skills...but where is the music ? Poor Django...
Frank and Tommy did perform together
ШИК!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Turn Frank's guitar down a tad, or increase the volume on Joscho's guitar mic. Super licks are being lost.
fucking crazy
Marvellous. They should integrate Martin Schmidt-Hahn, Germany s clarinet gigant !!
