    In a word “NO!” The big pet foods are unhealthy as a whole. The whole pet industry is evermore mimicking the unhealthy FDA recommendations for humans, and then due to the resulting deterioration in health, eagerly recommend a shot or a pill for that. If you and your dog eat whole foods, and exercise, you’ll both live a healthier, and more vital life❤

      I think the vets look at the nutrients and think - yep this is balanced, this is good, BUT an added vitamin/mineral is not the same thing as eating the actual food AND not all vitamins are created equal.
      In humans, for example cyanocobalamin is not nearly as good/absorbable as methylcobalamin - both are considered vitamin B12 - but your body does much better with the methyl group on the molecule than not. And I truly believe for dogs - they just aren’t built to be munching on corn, wheat, etc, they aren’t cows.
      Not to mention, adding vitamins to processed food is much like us eating “enriched” pop tarts, or slim fast - it may have vitamins and minerals that are important, but that doesn’t make it healthy - processed foods often cause inflammation that can lead to a host of problems.
      However to each his/her own - if folks like science diet, and their animals do good on it with no health issues - do you folks!

    At my last vet appointment my vet recommended the Gastro Biome type of this brand. My boy had soft stool for quite some time and this helped him immediately. I trust her wholeheartedly. I am not a fan of any store foods as my dog is fed a raw diet. I don't have anymore and was contemplating getting a bag for the just in case, but I'm going to go the route of making sure his gut health is tip top naturally instead.He is an older dog on medication and I want to make sure the effects of these medications don't destroy his gut health.

    High protein isn’t always warranted. Domestic dogs need good protein but in some it can be too much for their kidneys.

    • @Thetoad738
      @Thetoad738 Місяць тому

      These people are delusional. Very few bouquet brands offer the nutrition needed by dogs. They use marketing techniques to fool the customer to pay sometimes over double for their nutritionally inferior product. Double upping on Protein and overdosing the animal and causing havoc on their kidneys.

    I said science diet for years and I finally said no more. I have had dogs that started having health problems about 8:00 to 9 years old and then had to be put down. They were all on Imes. I started wondering then if the food was really all that they needed nutritionally. Then I had a 3-year-old cat that developed a horribly enlarged heart and died rapidly. I had that pig out overeating kitty cat on "perfect weight" sciencediet. Both I and my bet were stunned with the results. I have been wondering ever since if perfect way formula is really a perfect way to see tragic results in your kitty. Finally, we got a Chihuahua and this little girl could not hold her poop or pee. Then I decided to get her off of dried foods that had a lot of bulk in it. I started feeding her meat with veggies and rice. Immediately her stools became solid and looked really good and healthy and she quit having to pee and poop all the time. Now she's able to go all night long without requiring going outside 2 to 3 times a night. So, no more science diet for me.

      I can't feed it because it has rosemary which has been linked to seizures. My one Dobe can't have anything with rosemary so I avoid anything with rosemary in it - and it's in a lot of foods, even shampoos too. My one friend has a Springer with epilepsy. She never thought to look at the ingredients of the dog's shampoo - sent her dog into a grand mal seizure. Just something to keep in mind. Hope that helps.
