Thanks for the comparison and an excellent review. I ended up buying a Harp Shield based on this video and it has turned out great. I've been learning a lot about controlling feedback through better technique but I love the pedal. No change in tone, and it has brought the feedback problem under control.
Great video. I own a Kinder AFB +. It's been a great help. John Kinder is a very nice guy. He'll spend plenty of time on the phone answering questions. But I do wish it had a power adapter option, and there's a real art to adjusting the settings. I also own two Lone Wolf pedals- the Harp Attack and the Harp Delay. My next pedal will be their Harp Reverb. They make very good products, and their customer service is terrific. Thanks to your video, I think I'm going to pick up the Harp Shield. Cheers!
Hey Will. This is a very helpful video. I too used the Kinder AFB + for a few years, but finding the right settings was a bit tricky and it seemed to clip my signal. I recently picked up a Squeal Killer. It's not a sound gate and it doesn't color tone at all. Playing through a Harp Gear II, I normally experience feedback at about a 3, but with the Squeal Killer, I can turn up to 7.5 - 8. So far I'm pretty happy with it.
Although I am not familiar with the Lonewolf “Harp Shield”… and will look into it… I am very happy with my Kinder “anti-feedback +”! There’s nothing more annoying than dealing with harmonica feedback on stage, and it can be quite tricky dealing with it without losing your tone. The middle knob on the Kinder anti-feedback + box.. is to calibrate your harmonica mic to the amplifier. If you do that correctly your feedback problems are pretty much gone!! The knobs on the left and right of the calibration knob helps with tone/distortion… Pretty much dial in to taste, so to speak. As far as battery life… Saving your batteries is only a matter of unplugging your cord from the box. With that being said… I would never go on stage without new batteries in any of my pedals. I would like to research prices, as I know the Kinder box, and other items can be hard to find and a bit pricey, but for the sound that you want it’s worth it. I would have to do some research in comparison, as it seems like anything for a harmonica is pricey nowadays
would love to see your take on the feedback device. Unfortunately UA-cam puts MULTIPLE ADS 5-10 MINUTES WORTH in front of your content. I won't sit through that. You need to know.
UA-cam doesn't put 5-10 minutes of ads on anything, that's nonsense. You can skip most ads after 5 seconds. Sometimes you get a non skippable one, which will be between 6-15 seconds. It's how I get paid.
Will, where do you place the Harp Shield in your chain? I've tried first and last but when playing softly it always seems to clip the sound. I guess the noise gate is quite sensitive. Thanks
Hello there Will👋.. Cool video as always. But i think increasing the resolutions of your videos to 480p or 720p could both help you and the viewers. Plus i think also the sound quality improves when you do that for utube..
get a hold of Dennis Gruenling he is helping sell the few Kinder AFB devices that John makes i am on the wait list and it been several months now i think
I must of missed the bit where you play right next to the amp and therefore need a thingy me jig to control the beast. The best players are technology savvy using an old benchmark "Overdrive still the purist harp effect ever and apart from standing away from your amp all you need is mojo... Try it sometime....

Hey Will, thanks a lot! Could you please make a review of Suzuki Manji M-20 harmonica? Seems like it's really really good harp...
Hey there, my harp player just got a harp shield. He uses the green bullet. And there is STILL feedback. Why?? Small tube 12" amp. Thx

What amp are you using in this video?
Where do you put the pedal demonstrated in your setup of effects pedal,s as I require one in the future
The harp shield should go first in the cain
Where on the pedal board is the best placement for the Kinder, Squeal Killer type anti-feedback pedals?

Can i use it with acoustic guitar?
Will, given that you prefer the Lone Wolf, do you want to sell me your Kinder AF? Or anyone else?... Thanks
What amp are using?
Hello Will, what's the amp your playing thru.
+Mike Fresquez It's an extension speaker/amp from a Hacker turntable that I converted.
+Will Wilde sounds great
Thanks! yeah it's not bad, just a little quiet due to it's size. That was it flat out, all controls on 10.
Never got a reply from Kinder company...
I don't think he's in business any more.

Well, Will, I've just found a new use for MY hacker record player! Great sound and helpful vid, keep it up dude!
+bluesblaster Hahaha Yeah it makes a great harp amp!

Turn your gain down easy, it’s no good playing through a 5 watt amp and standing in front of it , ps I play through a four thousand watt chevin rig.
there's no high end respo
nse whatsoever..kryyste.
Not sure what you're on about mate, it's just a noise gate; it mutes the microphone when you're not playing. Doesn't effect frequency response at all.
JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS!!!
Wtf?
