I love the way you talk and your presentation. I don't agree that you need to put a little pep in your step as someone else mentioned...you sound perfect and professional. Keep up the good work.
I know this vid is a couple of years old but I would like to compliment you and your video. It was entertaining. Engaged my interest as I've owned a SB2 for 2 years now and love it. Made me feel at ease the way you broke everything down with your explanation(s) and how you can use each accessory. Great job, I'm subscribed. Momma always told me, it ain't never hurt nobody to give praise when praise is due. Best wishes
Hello, love your video. I own the surface book i5 Processor and now I am looking to add monitor to work comfortably and easier. I really liked the kensington dock station sd7000 but this model I have does not fit. Do you have any other videos that can be shared what other good monitors and docking station to use with surface book? Thank you!
Thanks, J. Great video, very informative! And, let me say that your video lighting/grading is one of the best I've seen - very comfortable to watch. If you can find a way to add a lightweight kickstand to the clipboard, that'd be awesome. I know a lot of people are looking to just use the clipboard on its own, carry it away, set it down on a table, type on screen, surf, etc. Not an easy solution to come up with. But I've subscribed to your channel and am on the lookout!
Great tips! I bought the usb-c hub and the 45w charger that you recommended in this video.. Happy with both items! Keep up the good reviews bro! Very informative!
I just found your channel bruh, subbed for sure... Really nice quality! Keep up the good work. Also you sold me in the surface book 2! Gonna scoop it up tomorrow..
Awesome video Jay! Subscribed! I gotta get one of those little micro SD adaptors! I didn't know half length ones existed... I was kind of bummed that the SB2 SSD slot left the SD half out... Problem solved! I'll check out this mouse too... Cheers!
Worth every penny. Impeccable build quality, made in USA. Bags will last a lifetime. Ask for a review bag--most of the reviews I have seen are for MBPs. There are 2 recent reviews of SFBags on Windows Central.
Good Video. Got a SB2 and was wondering how to charge it with a USB C charger. Saw your video, went to a local Best Buy got the Insignia Charger you got... Works like a charm. Good video.
Nice Video Thanks 👌🏻 alot of useful stuff i got to learn 😎 Do we still need to Run Defragmentation on it ? cos it has SSD in it and Please recommend Good Apps
Hello Jay. Great video brotha. I just pre ordered my Surface Book 3. I've been holding out to get a Surface Book since 2017. Lol!!! The sleeve that I purchased is from a company called Toast. Check them out. They are an American based company out of Oregon. They even do customizations to your protector (artwork of any kind). Thanks again for the video.
Great video with excellent sound and easy to understand. I look forward to when somebody (UAG?) offers a protective case for the 15-inch model like they do for th 13.5-inch model, but that may be wishful thinking from what my limited research reveals.
Great video. I want to use the internal storage for permanent programs and only use external storage for everything else. This should extend the health of internal storage by preventing constant writes and overwrites of temporary files such as video clips for editing. I will definitely get that flush micro sd adapter and the dongle.
QacQoc USB-C Hub mentioned in video, there are a number available and some reviews show they overheat. Can you provide model you are recommending? Excellent video!
awesome video - the charger is a home run given cost and portability. I have baseQi already, great product. You should provide links (affiliate links if you are smart) to products you mention. Keep the surface book 2 ideas coming.
BaseQi is one of my favorite add-ons. I first learned about it from Windows Central. Great review, man! Some great pics, but the mouse you chose is not what I would choose. I would instead get the Surface Mouse. A+

Hi, Thanks for the input on accessories. Would you recommend the Microsoft Surface Dock? It is running $125 now but not sure if it is worth it when compared to the hub and charger you recommended.
Excellent review, might allow me to finally decide between MS Pro 6 or the Surface Book 2, as I now definitely would like the USB-C port, which the Pro 6 does not have. But there is one accessory item missing, a proper cover, if you are using the SFB 2 as a tablet only. (see also comment from Thomas Trandal) I have a SFB 1 and was always worried to take the screen off and leave it somewhere or carry it around. It would be great to have some easy cover for it, when the screen is detached. It was actually less of a problem in the SFB1, as the battery time for the screen only was bit of a joke. I hope it is better in the SFB2.
I'm thinking about getting the Samsung Evo plus 256gb micro sd card with the qi adapter you recommend. Do you install and play pc games directly from your SD card? If so, how does it perform? Any noticeable lag?
I don't play off of the SD Card no. I use it primarily for media. I can test it out, but I don't think that would be the best use case for the SD card.
Yea, I have been getting questions about that. I am not having connectivity issues. I generally use the mouse with the dongle though. I will have to do some more testing.
US pricing is alway without taxes while European taxes are with VAT. But they are still more expensive indeed. Luckily i'm a Microsoft Surface Partner ;-)
No external graphics with the surface book 2? With the dock Or at all? Please give details. My big question is IF and HOW to make the Occulus Rift s work with it! maybe I should get one of the windows mixed reality headsets? Ugh! there is always a glitch between me and what I have bought and what I wanted to do with it! I still have time to return the Rift s....and what I want is pc VR with greatly reduced screen door effect compared to what I see with the Samsung Gear VR (lots screen door effect with headache to make that complete ...)
The surface book 2 does not have the ability to use external gpus. Its not ideal for vr... you may be able to use the 15 inch model for light vr... but you would be better off with another gaming oriented laptop
@@Tekeverything thanks for your reply. It seems most gaming laptops wont work with it either because of the display port/mini display port issue and the useless discreet graphics crap they play on us for ridiculous amounts of money. I bought a dell g3, and that would not work either. Most major name brands are useless because of too many issues to list here (like over heating, no mini display port, etc), and most just barely work with the rift s. I want something that will bank that rift s along fast and smooth for years to come. I found a great brand - "prostar". You can get them on amazon or directly from prostar's site. They are well thought out and fairly future proof, so back goes the g3 (keeping surface book 2 for my artwork) and I am going to buy exactly what I want from prostar. I wasted a whole day on that piece of s#1t dell. The heat and the fan noise on it, not to mention out of the box glitches makes that thing useless in any scenario. Any advice or words of wisdom? Back in the day I loved games like tomb raider, myst, doom, and metal gear solid, as well as strategy and puzzle games, mostly games I can play by myself.
dbrand currently doesn't have skins for the 15in surface book 2. If you want that to be an option, let the dbrand team know! Go to their website, and fill out the form under contact info. Also, as the owner of a surface dock, it's a really nice thing to have on my desktop. Not great for portability in any stretch of the imagination, but you can't beat it for the desktop.
After months of waiting for them to release the 15" skins (I really love their leather range as I got that for my first gen SB). Right now my SB215" has a dent on the side, a scratch mark from my pet...and to make matters worst the ring I was wearing skid across the bottom part of the keyboard...sad life. Dbrand is the only company that makes 3D textured skins too. ;-;
Lily Vuong You can always do what I did and get a toast skin. They're a bit more expensive but you get a real wood cover. There's also decalgirl if you want a vinyl skin. Seems like those are the options right now.
This was a great review, thinking of buying the 15 inch version for gaming, art and common school work of course. Probably gonna buy the pen and a monitor along with all these accessories.
Great Video, I purchased several of the recommended accessories (USB-C Hub, Dell Charger and Razer Mouse). Question: Have you experienced connection issues with the Razer? On my SB2 it does not reconnect after sitting idle or after a reboot. I have to remove it and add it once again using bluetooth. I have contacted Razer with no success. Any help much appreciated in advance.
Hey Theodore. I haven't noticed that yet, I generally used the wireless adapter though. I will test it out for you this weekend and see if I run into the same issue.
Hey Tek Eveything! Thanks for your help on this. I also have some more information. I found out on Windows 10 with the Razer Atheris connected via Bluetooth, using the Action Center Connect Action, I am able to connect to Razer without removing/adding once again after rebooting or after sitting idle for a long time period. This is a little bit of a pain, but I guess that I can live with it as the Razer Atheris is AWESOME! I am planning on purchasing another for either my Macbook Pro or Dell XPS 15. Do you know if this mouse can be paired with multiple devices. Once again thanks for any help in advance. BTW: Happy New Year!
Awesome video! Do you play a lot of games on your 13.5? Does it get hot? I'm considering this exact unit vs the 15" model. Would appreciate your opinion on which one to get.
I have done a decent amount of gaming, yes. It performs really well at 1080p. I was very very surprised by how capable it is. The 15" is great, but personally I think the tablet is too big to be practical. Unless you need the touch screen and pen input, you may be better offer with a more traditional gaming laptop.
Does that Dell charger work well to charge the SB2? I feel like it takes 2 to 3 hours to charge with OEM brick. Does it get hot? Do you think there would be problems given the wattage difference? I have a 15" SB2, but do you think it will still work?
The Dell charger works pretty well. It charges the surface book relatively quickly. It only gets warm if you are trying to charge and do a heavy workload at the same time. It isn't powerful enough to charge the device while gaming or really pushing the CPU. In my experience the surface charger can provide a full charge in less than an hour. I have the 13" model though, so your charge rate my differ. There is also a 65W version of the Dell, but it is double the price. I would only pick one up as a secondary portable charger.
Nice video! I have a surfacebook 2 and I am trying to find the best solution for connecting it to my 4k 60fps monitor. I am looking at usb C to display port cables on Amazon which are all under $40 or so. The thing is, I don't want 30 FPS on my monitor, I want 60 FPS and I don't think HDMI is capable of that. Any advice? Thanks.
Great video as usual, very helpful, thanks,I think you talk and express your self fine in your videos fine, don't need to change as its real one on one like a real conversation, Can you tell me will the BaseQi take the Samsung evo 256 GB card if I can get a special deal ( as its really expensive like you said otherwise) as the details for the adapter say it takes up to a 200 GB CARD Just wondering if the extra 56 GB WILL EFFECT IT OR BE A DIFFERENT SIZE,I know there's some other 200 GB brands out there but like the Samsung evo line, also got the i7 8GB 256 13" surface book 2 and loving it,just ordered the grey and green Xbox wireless controller, thanks for the advice, happy with the sound level now just had to get use to the difference between the surface laptop speakers and the surface book 2
Hey Ken, as far as I know the BasQI adapter should work with the 256GB model. There is no technical limitation that would keep it from working. I haven't seen any deals on them together, but SanDisk does make a solid 200GB micorSD card that is a bit cheaper than the Samsung 256GB. It isn't as fast, but for media playback etc it should be fine.
Question, I got a Saitek usb-c hub with Ethernet port, on my surface Book 2 lately it hasn't been able to let Ethernet go through or even see anything on my network through Ethernet, only wireless. Have you come across a fix for this by any chance if it has affected you? I've come up zilch after a few months of research.
when ever i carry my surface book 2 by the end where the hinge is i hear it creak as if the clipboard or keyboard want to give way. Should I worry about the thing snapping, I know the hinge is made to be super sturdy but that creaking makes me anxious.
So after 2 years, what about microsoft products with outdated nvidia driver and impossibility to install genuine nvidia drivers? And another thing, for the price the mirror screen really suksblls.
Can some body help. I got a Samsung 28'' 4k UHQ and two different hubs so I connected my monitor via usb c to my Surface Book 2 15'' and it keeps reconnecting all the time, I even try a cable usb c to hdmi and did not work. Also I tried in a different monitor and it does the same. Please help
does this machine work well? i mean I need something that I can do everything with it! coding, taking notes and stuff like this, and I really want to know does surface book2 is powerful enough for me.
Yes, I am a power user as well. I have pushed this machine to it's limits and it has responded very well. There aren't many tasks more taxing than video editing/rendering. This machine handles that, and handles it well. It's also good at gaming. I would pick one up, its an amazing machine.
amirreza ma you should definitely grab one of these. It'll handle everything you throw at it. Battery life is as good as you can get for an ultra portable. For me, it's easily the best computer I've ever had (and I've briefly had the 2017 MacBook Pro and 2017 Dell XPS 15 too... SB2 trumps them all) Not perfect, but in my opinion it's as close to a perfect laptop as you can get. If you can afford it, get it!
Great info, coo products that not everyone will show, know your stuff, but.... Put a little more pep in your step. At times you seen monotone, uncomfortable with talking to the camera. I'm sure it takes practice to get used to, but create an intro, and an outro, make a catch phrase to start and stop talking in the video. Over all, good stuff, don't be afraid to make a name for yourself though.
EH, I disagree. I skip the tacky intros in other videos and can find the pep exhausting. Some people prefer a chill, genuine review/recommendation video.
I love the way you talk and your presentation. I don't agree that you need to put a little pep in your step as someone else mentioned...you sound perfect and professional. Keep up the good work.
Not alot of people making videos for us surface book owners. Great job on this dude!
Oh man, that micro sd card adaptor was the greatest! Thanks a lot! Awesome video!
I love how chill and professional this video was. I like the way you talk. Keep up the great work!

Glad it was helpful, thanks!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! I was desperate to find a solution for the micro sd card!
Love love love my SB2. Your recommendations add to the set up. Great video. Thanks
I would still ad an anti-reflective film to the things needed as the display reflects like a mirrow especially in bright surroundings.
Hello, love your video. I own the surface book i5 Processor and now I am looking to add monitor to work comfortably and easier. I really liked the kensington dock station sd7000 but this model I have does not fit.

Great tips! I bought the usb-c hub and the 45w charger that you recommended in this video.. Happy with both items! Keep up the good reviews bro!
Very informative!
Can be a good charger for the Surface book 2 15"?
Most helpful key points mentioned
I pretty excited but the accessories which you have mentioned
Excellent presentation!
Love your presentation style. Keep it coming dude.
I just found your channel bruh, subbed for sure... Really nice quality! Keep up the good work. Also you sold me in the surface book 2! Gonna scoop it up tomorrow..

Nice vid broski
What about a car charger for the surface book 2? Are you using one? Any updates on the device?
As always great video! Keep up the good job bro!
Was hoping to see some nice sleeves/bags for the SB2, hope you can make a video on that for both the 13.5" and 15"
I have been looking for some bags, I added a good one to the article. I'll look into sleeves.
Check out Waterfiled Designs (SF Bags)
Love those Waterfield bags. I have been looking at their Staad bag for a while. Having a hard time justifying the pricing though.

I'm currently using the TomToc 360 15" sleeve -- it's amazing. $20, you can't beat it.
Good Video. Got a SB2 and was wondering how to charge it with a USB C charger. Saw your video, went to a local Best Buy got the Insignia Charger you got... Works like a charm. Good video.
Nice work on the addditional gear
Great video thanks Jay
I know I'm a little late to the party but I just ordered my surface book 2 and it will be delivered in a day or 2
Its still a great laptop. Enjoy!
Great video, thanks for suggestions on extra storage Sid card adapter! Liked your presentation! I subscribed!
Nice Video Thanks 👌🏻
alot of useful stuff i got to learn 😎
Do we still need to Run Defragmentation on it ?
cos it has SSD in it

I know this video is old but I don't get it: a 45-watt charger for the SB2 15? How does it even charge?
Exellent review, thanks for the helpful suggestions.

Loved this vid....you have a great style that is just easy to listen to.
Thanks Steph!
Love your style Jay. Just subscribed!
Thanks man, really gave me some cool new ideas!
Great video. I want to use the internal storage for permanent programs and only use external storage for everything else. This should extend the health of internal storage by preventing constant writes and overwrites of temporary files such as video clips for editing. I will definitely get that flush micro sd adapter and the dongle.
That is exactly what I do, it works really well.
since you said you could charge the laptop with the dell usb-c charger, can you theoretically charge it with a powerful enough portable battery?
Yes
QacQoc USB-C Hub mentioned in video, there are a number available and some reviews show they overheat. Can you provide model you are recommending? Excellent video!
Check out my new USB accessories for laptop power users vid. There are new and better accessories, including a quality USB-C hub.
awesome video - the charger is a home run given cost and portability.
Surface Arch Mouse (for non-gaming) is crazy portable, and outstanding. I love it and have had one for 2 years
Great video! Very helpful
I really needed this
Amazing video!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Wow cool comment! Thanks for sharing!
Very instructive review, thanks!
for when i attach the monitor the opposite way for drawing, i got a more stable support which light and easy to set up and also a bluetooth keyboard fo when the main keyboard isnt reachable for program shortcuts etc
great show, thanks
Great video
Great vid man. Thanks for sharing.
thx for this! m gonna get some of these toys for my SB2 :D
Does it charge faster with the usb c charger? Just bought one and it says 3 hours to fully charge with the included charger.
You forgot the most important accessory man, the pen!
The pen is known, I wanted to focus on lesser known items.
Is there a kick stand accessory? Like the surface pro line. I used to use a Logitech Smart Keyboard, and loved the kick stand.
Hi, Thanks for the input on accessories. Would you recommend the Microsoft Surface Dock? It is running $125 now but not sure if it is worth it when compared to the hub and charger you recommended.
Check out my newer USB-C laptop accessories for power users video. The surface dock is nice but a little outdated imo.
Excellent review, might allow me to finally decide between MS Pro 6 or the Surface Book 2, as I now definitely would like the USB-C port, which the Pro 6 does not have.

Great vid! Do you experience any Bluetooth reliability issues with the razer mouse? People were complaining about that on Amazon.
Yea, I have been getting questions about that. I am not having connectivity issues. I generally use the mouse with the dongle though. I will have to do some more testing.
I want to know what is the best pen for note taking.
While there are other compatible pens, the Surface pen will be your best bet.
These machines are so much more expensive over here in Europe. Anyway thanks for sharing this list!
US pricing is alway without taxes while European taxes are with VAT. But they are still more expensive indeed. Luckily i'm a Microsoft Surface Partner ;-)
Forgot to add to previous comments. The Razer shows paired, but will not reconnect without removal/addition. Thanks again to any suggestions.

On Dbrand's website, it does explicitly say Surface Book 2 15", does this mean it's only for the Surface Book 1 and happens to fit the 2 - 15" model?

They only have the 13 inch option at the moment.

Can you recommend a thin keyboard cover for the 15 inch?
what do you recommend for emulator? I assume this is like NES, SNES, etc.?

Great vid, question...what camera are you using?
Sony a6000 for this video
I was wondering if u can get like a cheap light keyboard
I need a good external drive for these storage eating games. What do I use?

Any advice? Thanks.
HDMI 2.0 will handle 4K/60. Just make sure your adapter can handle the signal.
Thanks! I will probably buy the USB C -> Displayport cable. I don't think I need more than that at the moment.
missleading! You should clarify that the USB-C port isn't a thunderbolt 3 port
Great video as usual, very helpful, thanks,I think you talk and express your self fine in your videos fine, don't need to change as its real one on one like a real conversation,
Can you tell me will the BaseQi take the Samsung evo 256 GB card if I can get a special deal ( as its really expensive like you said otherwise) as the details for the adapter say it takes up to a 200 GB CARD
Just wondering if the extra 56 GB WILL EFFECT IT OR BE A DIFFERENT SIZE,I know there's some other 200 GB brands out there but like the Samsung evo line, also got the i7 8GB 256 13" surface book 2 and loving it,just ordered the grey and green Xbox wireless controller, thanks for the advice, happy with the sound level now just had to get use to the difference between the surface laptop speakers and the surface book 2
I have the base model (13") and I winder how much gaming I can do on it???
The base model has integrated graphics. So not much gaming unfortunately.
awesome videos
thank you
Will the Base Qi Adapter will provide for UHS‑I class speeds? Also is it safe to assume that this is compatible with the Surface Book 2 15"?
The answer is yes to both questions.
I have not sorry. I've actually never had a reason to use the ethernet port on my hub.
How do you save the money on a Surface Book charger? It's bundled with the laptop.
Alastair Archibald - this is if you want a second or lighter charger, not to save money on the first, which comes free with the SB2.
How much they paid you dbrand? they don't even have yet a skin for surface 2
take the views of this video, divide by my subscriber count, then multiply bye 0. That's how much.
when ever i carry my surface book 2 by the end where the hinge is i hear it creak as if the clipboard or keyboard want to give way. Should I worry about the thing snapping, I know the hinge is made to be super sturdy but that creaking makes me anxious.
When you say carry it by the end where the hinge is, do you mean by the screen?
Tek Everything nah like when its closed sometimes I carry it by bigger end where the hinge is, sorry for not clarifying lol.
Please help
Emigdio Herrera dude just call Microsoft and ask..
Review the case
does this machine work well? i mean I need something that I can do everything with it! coding, taking notes and stuff like this, and I really want to know does surface book2 is powerful enough for me.
Yes, I am a power user as well. I have pushed this machine to it's limits and it has responded very well. There aren't many tasks more taxing than video editing/rendering. This machine handles that, and handles it well. It's also good at gaming.
I would pick one up, its an amazing machine.
thank you man for answer my question, there's two things else, is it durable and how's the battery life?
amirreza ma you should definitely grab one of these. If you can afford it, get it!
thanks man!! really helped me!!! I will buy one 100% thank you.
Clayton Wakefield what kind of games this laptop cant handle?
Great info, coo products that not everyone will show, know your stuff, but.... Put a little more pep in your step. At times you seen monotone, uncomfortable with talking to the camera. I'm sure it takes practice to get used to, but create an intro, and an outro, make a catch phrase to start and stop talking in the video. Over all, good stuff, don't be afraid to make a name for yourself though.
EH, I disagree. I skip the tacky intros in other videos and can find the pep exhausting. Some people prefer a chill, genuine review/recommendation video.
Arc Mouse? Best travel mouse imo.
I am not really a fan of the arc mouse. It's not bad though.
Does the Surface Book skin properly fit the Surface Book 2?
Yes, the external dimensions are exactly the same. There is no skin for the 15" model yet though.
Kool. I’m gonna trust you and purchase one for my 13.5.
hey, did you end up getting the skin? how was the fit? I have the 13 inch surface book 2 as well.
Can this handle 4K film editing?
Yes, I edit my 1080p 60 footage with no issues. Other have stated that it handles 4K content as well.
KB/M is better, the keyboard is just fine
External GPU? 2080 ti :')
Lol wead and white speeds are fast
