I'm American and I been working in the UK the last 3 years. You don't understand how weird it feels for me now seeing people at home pick up pepper spray off the shelf in Walmart... pepper spray in the UK is considered a "firearm" and will land you 5 years in prison minimum sentence here. 100% illegal for ANYONE other than a cop to have pepper spray or tasers. Even carrying a pocket knife in the UK that self-locks or has a blade over 3" long will get you 2 years in jail.
I move back home to Florida next year and it's gonna feel crazy my first day back going to the gun store and driving home with a Glock in my car. I had to sell all my guns when I moved in 2021.

You can buy shotguns and rifle at Walmart, well my Walmart at least mainly for hunting
walmart sold guns for well over a decade if your walmart no longer has them it’s because they vowed to stop the sale of them. So once the stock is gone it’s gone now. They stopped because most of there stores don’t get many gun sales so they constantly have a war supply in a grocery store and that’s just liability on top of liability.
As a CCL owner and daily carrier i agree 1000% no grocery store should sell guns like walmart did not only does that void the purpose of gun and pawn shops. now in theory someone could forcefully gain access to said war supply and that’s no bueno.

Walmart stopped selling pistols in 1993. They haven’t sold them for 31 years.
They also stopped selling AR-15s and sporting rifles back in 2019.
And they don’t sell ammo like 5.56 or .223 because they say “it can be used in large capacity magazines or in military style weapons”. Which is kind of odd considering the fact that they still sell .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .30-06, which are all used in high capacity semi auto sporting rifles.
Also, in 2018, they raised the minimum age to buy firearms and ammo in their stores to 21, even though state law only requires you to be 18.

Thanks for sharing. I remembered back in 1974 a grocery store in Houston call Fed Mart sold guns cheap. Academy Super Store started in 74 as an army surplus store for fishing and camping with a kid called David on tv ads. Now Academy mushroomed to a mega store. The folks in firearms department are helpful, professional and courteous. 👍👍👍👍👍

I thought y’all’s was at academy. For future reference academy will allow CCW and also FFL there plus you can price match on firearms and they kick you an extra 5% off on top of that. I usually price match with like a Rural King, Cabelas something like that. Best way to get firearms.
