I love Jim and Silver's relationship in this movie, how Silver starts as a villain before forming a real bond with Jim, and eventually chooses to save Jim over the treasure.
Treasure Planet and Atlantis are ELITE. I still belt out the words to "I'm Still Here" and it's stayed Top 10 in my playlists, and just....There's something to be said for the relationships in both of these films. It's not just romance and friendships, it's going into the nitty gritty and understanding each other, people do have good and bad sides and motivations to go more towards one or the other. And they are just beautiful films and have those messages of finding yourself and belonging, found family, being outsiders, feeling lost that hit so incredibly hard.
I still remember the day I saw this in theaters as a kid! I also remember seeing a poster promoting Codename kids next door before it was aired on cartoon network!
so Disney basically sent this movie out to die. They pulled all its advertising budget and rescheduled its release from late summer to early November- putting it up against "Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets." It never had a chance...
@@lampad4549 putting a movie that, 1 had little advertising, 2 had other movies that were more invested for audience to watch is always going to hurt the box office. Why do you think so many movies tend to be released at least a week apart, its for the exact reason cause that first few days is crucial to its survial. Disney execs basically made this movie to be the final nail in the coffin to shut down its certain animation division.
Treasure Planet is not only the most underrated Disney movie that came after Atlantis: The Lost Empire. But it is also one my favorite Disney movies. Really ashamed that we have never got a sequel after 20 years of waiting. i would like to see where Jim goes next after joined and graduated from the Royal Naval Academy after so many years.
34:39 We saw the look in his eyes at the beginning when we were hearing the story about him as he picked up the pieces of that treasure. That insane love, lust, obsession, whatever you want to call it, the fixation on having that treasure, of gathering as much of it as he could. Looking back you can't think that anyone who looks at treasure like that would leave it for anyone else to steal. He died alone on his ship surrounded by his treasure. Because it was about having it, not doing anything with it. It was his in life and he made sure it was his in death.
Long john Silver (Treasure Planet) is the perfect Anti-Villain for Disney, and he is the one of the few rare Disney Villains that has alot of heart. Especially for those have complexity and 3rd dimential character like Judge Claude Frollo. As a grown man who grew up without a father, I can relate to Jim since he has to deal with real serious issues of an absentee parent and abandonment. living with his mother Mrs' Hawkins for the rest of his life. We seen him as a rebellious thrill seeker who, like many of us, is looking for an adventures and he gets in trouble most of the time. But over the course his story, he meets Silver who steps right in a father figure role despite being captain of his pirate crew, Silver chooses his love for the cabin boy over the treasure, and teaches Jim the valuable life lessons such as taking the helm and chart your own course. And stick to it, no matter the squalls. Disney really needs to make more father-son dynamics like this one! In addition, more good anti-villain/anti-hero like John Silver
10:04 the way the professor just acted always cracks me up like "seriously, what the heck?!" 11:28 the fact that they didn't have any parrot looking creatures, they decide to go with a Shapeshifting slime to replace poly the parrot.... I love this movie 14:31 I love this guy he was definitely a villain to hate yet also to love especially his voice 16:48 what did you expect he is long John Silver… Even in the book he did have a soft spot for Jim Hawkins. 25:44 just when I thought this movie couldn't get any better they made Ben gun into a robot… And with one of my favorite actors/voice actors of all time. 30:21 this also cracked me up🤣🤣🤣 37:43 the screams on what their future is going to be and I love it 39:13 😅 yeah that is a good reason why they couldn't make a treasure planet 2..... but if they did.... I wonder what they would've done then.... I mean as far as I'm concerned that was it there wasn't anything else after the book.... however there was a cartoon series based off of it with anthropomorphic people
Such an underrated movie! I was literally thinking about this movie when I got the UA-cam notification 😂! I wish they did a second movie, but I did read something about how they were also planning a 3rd, but to how much money it brough in from the box office, wasn't gonna happen. Everytime "Who's that Pokemon!" came on had me laughing! This is probably one of my most favorite collabs that y'all have done!
15:20 You can't hire a ship and a well-known captain to go after a legendary treasure that may or may not exist but that everyone talks about without word getting out. To summarise: People talk.
0:50 I just love the opening violin - I still say it's a small reference to Robert Louis Stevenson (the man who wrote 'Treasure Island') being from Scotland, it sounds like a melody that would come from that land of sky and mountains.
My favorite underrated Disney Movie! And both of you are reacting to it together! I like it better than Atlantis but the only drawback of Atlantis was them putting in a joke character for the kids
This is one of my all time favorite Disney movies. Most people I know have never seen it, but the characters and world building are phenomenal. Disney is constantly doing live action remakes of their films, and I would do almost anything for a live action version of this and Atlantis. You asked about Jim throwing away the piece of rope he was holding after their black hole escape. If you look right before, he was tying and untying it, repeatedly doing the knot that he'd done on all of the life lines. He still thought he'd messed up the knot and gotten Mr. Arrow killed, and at the end just threw the rope in frustration. It's a detail I missed for years until someone pointed it out to me!
EYYYY Its my fav bois! Treasure planet is in my top 10 favs! It was the victim of bad marketing, and it was a passion project that got very little recognition. Its a fantastic movie based off a great book, and the world building is some of the best I've ever seen in a movie before! I love the futuristic pirate theme that takes the old timey looks of high sea adventures and meshes it with science fiction! Plus, the characters are fantasticly written (I wanted to be Captain Amelia when I was young, her and Tarzan lol). So glad you guys checked this out!!
I choose Treasure Planet even though I love Atlantis Treasure Planet hit deferent for me I rewatched it thee most out of all Disney movies but I rewatch it in my language it makes me have all emotions but of course when I watch reactors reaction it would be in English but it still hit deferent even in English, if I had free time I would rewatched this movie everyday that's how much I love it also always had a crush on James even now🤣🤣❤❤,
This movie is so underappreciated despite it being highlighted by all OG Disney fans (of that era). So glad you both are doing collab watches like this ♥️😁😁
The boys watching the underrated classic! And I can’t wait for you to see Atlantis soon! They are just so damn good and deserved so much recognition today! 🥰💙
Oh the character designer for Doctor Dilbert Doppler also worked on Klaus. And I think Channel Awesome did a thing where they read how a Treasure Planet 2 movie was going to be like. Really, you never heard of Treasure Island? Well anyways, the name of the ship was rhe RLS Legacy R L S for Robert Louis Stevenson. And the deleted scenes for this were interesting.
I watched this movie when I first got an Amazon firestick. I like duo reaction. I forgot Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the voice of Jim. You both should react to Muppet Treasure Island together.
Disney has the best opportunity of creating an epic live action crossover. Think about it, swap out the Cyborg Jon Silver for Hando and slap this movie in the Star Wars universe. It’s a backstory of how Hando lost his crew.
Top 3 favorite movies, favorite movie to re-watch. I used to watch this in the two hour drive to my grandparents house when I was a kid so it'll always hold a place with me
Hi MellVerse and Billy Binges, You Both My Favorite UA-camrs for Movie Reactions. I'm with you MellVerse I'm used to have the MCDonalds toys back in the days. Treasure Planet It's My Favorite Disney Movie.
Both this movie and Atlantis are my favourite and the most underrated if not under appreciated Disney movies to exist. We need to bring back hand drawn animated movies.
TREASURE PLANET!!!! Lets goo!!! I love Treasure Planet!!!! Such an underrated DISNEY movie!!!!! Please do ATLANTIS THE LOST EMPIRE!!!!!! That is an underrated DISNEY movie, that’s my favorite DISNEY movie!!!!!

I love Jim and Silver's relationship in this movie, how Silver starts as a villain before forming a real bond with Jim, and eventually chooses to save Jim over the treasure.
John Silver and Cassandra are the best examples of Disney twist villains done right
Callahan, Bellweather, and Hans ARE NOT
@TheMiraculousVillain not even Mother Gothel or Frollo????😊😊😊😊
That's in the book ...
@@pricemoore2022 mother Gothel and Frollo are not twist villains though.

That song is SO GOOD I love it too
Sung by John Reznik of the goo goo dolls
YES! So much!
“Looks good for a super old movie” hit me in the soul😓
Same.
I still remember the day I saw this in theaters as a kid!
I also remember seeing a poster promoting Codename kids next door before it was aired on cartoon network!
That comment hurt. This is still new Disney in my mind.
It’s better than whatever Disney’s shoving out today
so Disney basically sent this movie out to die. They pulled all its advertising budget and rescheduled its release from late summer to early November- putting it up against "Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets." It never had a chance...
Nah nobody wanted to see it plane and simple. Just because you go along side harry potter doesnt you bomb as hard as it did.
Thank you for saying this! This movie was absolutely done dirty thanks to both CEOs at the time of production. It’s really interesting Disney history.

YOU GUYS WATCHED TREASURE PLANET! OMG! Major props to both of you for checking this awesome movie!❤️
Captain Flint even in death is like "if I can't have it no one can“
A collab for National Treasure would be awesome!

I wish I could multiple like this! This movie is AMAZING! The Black Cauldron is another hidden gem of an animated movie!
This movie and Atlantis: The Lost Empire are equally great.
Atlantis is legitimately the best pulpy adventure movie ever made

Oh my god I've seen that movie so many times as a child thank you for the title drop
Oh that one movie written by the same dude who gave Wonder Woman and Black Widow ass shots for no reason
The knot of the same time period Rescuers and Rescuers Down Under are also really good Disney films that aren't super well known

This is an underatted disney movie. Also, it was fun watching this on twitch.
Underated classic, love this movie & it's sci Fi/pirate aesthetic.
Yall should also react to Atlantis, El Dorado, and Sinbad 7 seas
He has a reaction to El Dorado, but the others he should Def watch.

Great movie I don’t remember much of it in the theaters but I remember I was with my uncle Greg

It’s also cool that this movie released the same year I was born.

I got home and I saw this???? Oh thank you thank you thank youuuuuu Mello!
But Atlantis is top tier! Can't beat it.
Older movies are so much better. No CGI. CGI is only useful in some movies, not all.
38:39 Ey, ey. Just cuz it’s true doesn’t mean we need to say it and disrespect Sarah
I just came from watching an older collab you both did together 😂
That feature presentation thing called me OLD omg 😭 I wish I was a kid again
Love how you think you recognised Dumbledore but missed Trelawny. Oh and Laurie Metcalf (Andy's mother from Toy Story amongst other things).
Yayayayayayaysyayayayayaysyayaya 🎉🎉🎉 perfect way to end my night ! ❤

Benjamin Hornigold
Mary Read
'Calico' Jack Rackham
Black Sam Bellamy
Anne Bonney
Ching Shih
Henry Morgan

UM YES PLEASE??? My favorite guys watching my favorite animated movie?!?
TOGETHER no less...
35:01 For context this is written on a piece of paper left inside a skulls head:

this is one of my top favorites, so glad you both watched it together
Dont forget Titan A.E. to finish off the last of the trilogy of major films made with mixed animation.

6:29 The ship crashed there, whether Jim had brought him there or not the pirates would've ransacked the nearest house they could find anyhow
Getting back int he pirate swing so that you're still in it when season 2 of One Piece arrives, I love it.
Eichiro Oda would love this movie
The book Treasure Isiand is actually really great. Basic concept and story is the same , but obviously not in space.
