Another thing to note about the shield captain The standard box of custodian guard has a cape to note a shield captain model so buying a seperate kit for the HQ is not neccesary
Its great that Valdor is a Primarch slot, can you imagine him as an ally HQ plus accompanying troops? It means he can only really be taken in a Custodes primary detach army. So i guess they made the right call even though he technically isnt a primarch, kinda saw that one coming
The weird names in the meridian sword profiles, I think, are based on the English translation of some Taichi postures. It's White Crane spreads wings, rather than raptor, though.
Looking forward to your take on Solar Auxilia. No idea where the Carnodon has gone (luckily I don't have one) but apart from that, I quite like it at first glance. The addition of Cohort Doctrines is a nice touch.
The cost of Valdor balances out to other Primarchs because next to everyone is going to take the Teleporter which is 125pts, I believe. Not that having him drop in your backlines is gonna be easy to deal with. Mind, I'd charge a couple of Legionaries into him and tarpit him up for two turns.
Out of curiosity, how different are the 40k Custodes bikes compared to the ForgeWorld resin ones? And can Sisters of Silence be taken in a Custodes army? I'm asking because the 40k Combat Patrol box comes with a lot of stuff that could be useful for a new Cusodes player. Not saying that I want Custodes, just that it is a build option.
They are very different design wise bikes But if build them with the round base there probably isn't much issue (exact same base size iirc) unless your oponent is an absolute dick then you prob could proxy them I think Sisters can be taken, it would be absolutely a straight up dumbass decision if they could not
I made mine with Grey Knight falchions. I play GK, and have a ton of them. You can probably find them for cheap out there as most people were not taking falchions in 9th edition 40K.
Aren't custodes the faction if you don't want to have friends in HH or 40k? I say this jokingly but they are hard for many armies to deal with due their rules
2 things - The grav carrier is only 180 points it is useable mostly as a shield but it is useable. The Jetbikes only have a single base attack you were saying they have three base or am i misunderstanding bonus attacks etc?
Regarding the Custodes jetbikes, I’m curious what people think about proxying in Dawneagle Jetbikes (plastic) for Gyrfalcon (30k) jetbikes? Normally I’m 100% in the camp of not using 40k models for 30k… but as far as I’m aware from a lore perspective, everything the Custodes have from 40k SHOULD have been around since 30k anyway? I’ve not heard of any lore explaining why they would decide to just completely swap out their jetbikes for a newly invented type halfway through (while invention was becoming a dirty word no less) especially when most of their arsenal hasn’t changed at all. I have six Dawneagles from before I started Heresy and decided to use my Custodes infantry in it, and I’m loathe to go buying six new ludicrously expensive jetbikes to replace models that I would describe to a blind person in exactly the same way (Custodes on a big jetbike, with a Lance, prow-mounted bolt weapon, and no 40k-specific iconography).
Sadly the overpriced resin bikes are significantly longer and iirc bulkier then the 40k plastic bikes. So I personally wouldn't want to use them, but if your opponents are OK with it go nuts lol.
If you are of the opinion that there should be no 40k in 30k, then follow that rule. It's kind of BS for you to say that to another faction player but then break it because "reasons".
@@SacredGumby I've yet to refuse another player a game over 40k models in their army - I'm talking about within my own collection. As for 'reasons' - my question is what 'reason' is there for a Dawneagle being a separate, 40K exclusive unit other than for us to pay Games Workshop twice for essentially teh same unit?
I don’t think it would be a problem to use the Dawneagles- maybe just convert them a little bit so they aren’t completely identical to the original kit. Obviously it’s whether your opponent minds that really matters if they want to allow them for games. I don’t think that Macca would have a problem with it, because he used some in his White Scars “Sagyar Mazan” force a couple of years back. He had the regular 30K Scimitars as well, but I believe that he used the Dawneagles to represent the special White Scars-specific jetbikes, probably because the Forge World Scars-bikes hadn’t come out yet. They looked rather good too, in my opinion. You can find two Legion showcases in his videos if you’re curious, and they are displayed and explained.
id like your opionon on what of the new SOS units you could actually kitbash and which ones need a new kit. You're a p good kitbasher so I think you''d have a good eye to tell which ones fw wants us to kit bash and which ones will be getting a new kit
Best sister's kitbash options I reckon are the Escher necromunda models (especially there new jetbike models) for some old school sister's vibes or check out the 3rd party models by atlan forge.
@@kassar7146 so the sisters have jetbike model? apothecary models? trackers with cyper falcons and dogs? Do they have heavy versions of their weapons? Have they bothered to release any of the unnamed HQ options? Having played Custodes and sisters mostly in 30k the majority of the sisters rules do not have accompanying models.
Tbh, im kind of annoyed they arent the cataphractii and dawneagle jetbikes they have in 40k for heresy. Plastic is nicer to use and tbh i just prefer those models
I seem to hear people saying the Coronus is expensive in points. You said it's three times the cost. It's only 180 points. A three man guardian squad is 150 points. That of course doesn't mean the transport is good. But at 180 points, it might not be bad when I get cut to pieces by Mechanicum shooting just trying to footslog them up the board. Edit: I'll also say that the Nemisis rule is basically garbage when you play Mechanicum. My previous opponent had like 1 unit where the rule was even applicable.
I hate the look of the Custodes Swords too- I replaced all of mine with Grey Knights Force Swords, since they’re large enough to match the larger size of the Custodes. I don’t know why they made the Sentinel blades so ridiculous looking, since I think the Guardian Spears look great.
@@tunguskalumberjack9987 Tbh I kind of love how they're swinging around buster swords for no reason. They look unbelievably impractical but so does most of their gear tbh.
I have a big problem with Valdor personally. He tanks to much but essentially hits with a pillow. Forget fighting terminators with him, he will MAYBE kill 2. Lightning blows rarely ever shows itself useful, Valdor's damage output is not good. Khârn for instance has a better damage output than Valdor, because he gets rerolls from shred. Valdor has no such thing, and in the end you just won't get that many wounds to actually do something. And I've testplayed him multiple times in various scenarios. I'd much rather have him as he was in 1.0, with a 2+/4++ but the "Molecular Severance" special rule. Back then he was way more enjoyable to play and did't tank a shitton amount of damage. And fun fact: Haeteron guards get killed by primarchs like it's nobody's buisness, since primarchs get to allocate wounds by themselves and often cause instant death, against which Custodes only get a 6++ save.
Lot of people complaining about playing them here. I've had several games against a friend of mine's with an early access copy; they're much better to play against. They still die to weight of dice, they WILL kick your shit in in combat but you can keep the majority at arms length. Play the objective, accept losses as necessary chaff screens and bolter the shit out of the Guard. You'll do absolutely grand. I haven't lost against them yet in 2.0 with Iron Hands.
The Nemesis rule seems to be the Custodes switching from detached data-savant to "oh sh*t I have to take this fight seriously for a moment!" 😁
Forgive me master, I must go all out.

It also gives him all the special rules attached to a Primarch keyword. Which is super nice.
It does mean that I can't field him and Russ to do a lore appropriate Censure Host to fight my friends Thousand Sons
@@EdBurke37 if you field them both at the same time anyway your fight will be very lore accurate lol.
