- The number of cars and motorcycles in the bus lane has dramatically decreased as a result of the new penalties.
In this video you can see some drivers or riders being apprehended and given a ₱5,000 ticket for bus lane violation.
Plus you'll see a flashback to an operation that took place before the new penalties came into effect.
You'll easily notice the difference between how many dared to use the bus lane before, and how many use it now.
Good to know that the increased penalties are working to discourage violators.

There should be bigger penalties for people who try to name drop agencies , politicians or the like and they’re proven wrong. Especially those who fake stickers and badges.
Actually, there's a law about using unauthorized stickers/logo of any government agency. They have a minimum and medium imprisonment period. So GG pa rin. haha

It appears that there are lesser 4 wheeled vehicles driving through bus lanes. They learned that they cannot easily get away from apprehension due to the size of their vehicle.

I understand that discipline is the main problem of many Filipinos but I think another reason is being stupid as well. Just look at the first rider, he doesn't have a license and yet he tried to break as many laws as possible instead of blending in like a real good driver and he won't raise any suspicion and can travel without any license (not that I recommend driving without one).
They must also put a yellow marking between the Bus Lane & the regular lane in areas where there's no physical barrier for identification.
It's quite suspicious the backrider ran. It's the rider who will be ticketed. Maybe they are hiding something. Holdapers maybe?

Rider running away should be arrested. If the bike does not belong to him and he has no ID then he has no reason to pay a $100 fine.
He has to pay it, that bike wouldn't be there if he didn't drive it

There is now a precedent for those who ran away. The 2 drivers who name dropped a Senator got away with 1st penalty instead of a higher penalty by using intermediary to surrender. The question now is - are intermediaries needed to surrender and get the lower penalty? How about those who got show cause order from LTO?
The MMDA has created this scenario. This policy should be clarified and the one responsible for it must be sanctioned.
Since MMDA collected more fine this time they should invest on putting a solid line not just one line they should put double line since they dont want to put a concrete barrier and invest on proper signage so they wont have any more excuses…great work by the way guys…keep it up…

I remember asking one of the Joyride MC if he ever tried using the bus lane and he said " no sir will not attempt not because of the penalty but because if a bus aaccidentally hit you instead of paying multiple fees they will jist run you down making sure you die and only get to do a one time payment"

I can’t comprehend why there are so many drivers using the bus lane. That’s stupidity.
This is the problem that will really happen.... these violators will still not follow the rules... they will still do it but now they will get wilder in escaping because they do not want to pay the 5,000. So now it becomes even more dangerous for the police and other motorists. These violators license should have been revoked and banned from re-applying. It is the duty of these law enforcement to keep the streets safe. If they drive without a license then they should be banned from applying a drivers license and registering any vehicle. They failed to do it.
I think these violators already received their Christmas bonuses. Imagine throwing away 5k PHP for violating one of the simplest rules in EDSA. Naol may pambigay ng 5k.

Opinion. Suggestion. To those who approach the violators, it would be better to have a printed sign saying to pull over at the far right side of the road for processing of their violation. This is to avoid 'palusot' and unnecessary traffic.

only in pinas, got a spotter on the overpass, traffice enforcers endangering their lives standing in between moving vehicles; getting in front of moving vehicles/violators to make them slow down/stop and good number of enforcers. pay rate is probably better than average and fortunately less or no corruption.

They should paint a solid white line to separate the bus lane from the regular lanes.

Impound means you have to pay higher, since the government utilizes contractors for picking up the vehicles, penalty + impounding fee + hassle. Goodluck retrieving your vehicle without proper papers

One strategy to reduce traffic is for the toll fee of superhighways to impose a higher toll fees for cars during traffic peak hours and lower the fees during non peak hours. I learned some countries like singapore and the US. are adopting that system and there is significant improvement in their congestion as more car drivers who need to travel at peak hours would use the public transport and leave their car at home.
edsa is not a closed system though so i dont think it'll work there.

I’m a huge supporter of the bus lane and the larger penalties, but damn, it still hurts to see these people get caught knowing they’ll have to pay a ₱5,000 fine which for most, is a significant portion of what they make at all.
Of course, it is their fault, but you can still feel bad for their stupidity.
I actually feel happy 😊, since they learned a new lesson in life.

What if you have a pregnant wife about to give birth and you used the bus lane due to emergency, will you still be aprehended? I know you can call an ambulance but what if you decided to drive on your own because the ambulance takes too long to arrive?

Well it's hard to follow rules when road signs aren't clear. Deteriorated road paint, but no restoration. Hidden road signs. And the abundance of "road-traps" all throughout Metro Manila. Ask any driver - getting apprehended by the MMDA is inevitable due to the reasons above. They don't bother fixing these things cuz that's how they profit.
