I remember this being the one where he tried to have an actual plot and so other aspects suffered. But those are very hazy memories, so I have no idea what I’d think now if I reread it!

@@NevsBookChannel it’s still early days with this. He’s just getting his stride and realising there’s a world here and not just Rincewind. I think it suffers a wee bit from having a premise, not an entire plot, but hey, we’re on book 3, we’re getting there.

This is where I started my current Discworld series read-through, and I loved it too. The Witches books are some of my favourites in the series (reading Wyrd Sisters in 2021 was what made Pratchett CLICK for me), so this was a delight when I finally got around to reading it.

@@genteelblackhole it was the first one where Pratchett starts to hit his stride. And even though the series ramps up a gear massively when Nanny Ogg gets introduced, Equal Rites still has one of my favourite gags in the whole Discworld series:
“The lodgings were on the top floor next to the well-guarded premises of a respectable dealer in stolen property because, as Granny had heard, good fences make good neighbours”

@@TheBookThing Absolutely, Nanny Ogg is the perfect foil to Granny Weatherwax. Pure joy. Haha and that pun is glorious!
