Is it possible that this is an early song from German synth band Camouflage? Their initial band was called Licensed Technology around ‘83 and they may have released stuff as Camouflage as early as ‘85.
I only discovered this song today and I've been learning about it all day, and I admit I thought it sounded like Camouflage too. They have the same style and the same broken English and accented vocals, but I don't think their music had this style of guitar in it.
Nah, but a radio station at a time with negligible quality compared to clear digital era stuff could have been the cause. Tape wear might have gone down too.
@@denisdubovik228If I have the correct information, the song was recorded alongside other well known songs. If it was tape wear, it would have affected these songs aswell and been easily identified as a factor.
wow such a great song! I, for sure, would love to know the probably well known band in order to check out their other beautiful and certainly not deep mysteries rabbit-hole leading songs !
A short lived band from Berlin who recorded this single in 1981 & only released 1 full length album in 1983. The song was not released on the album which is why even fans were not familiar with it. Anyway the song is called "Find The Wind" by Statues in Motion (aka S.I.M.)
@@blackhawksnbullsncubsnbear4615Well It's probably Deine Lakaien And the song could have been written in 1983, although the band was formed in 1984, which didn't have to be an obstacle to record a demo in 1983 for the radio, from what I've read it was recorded on NDR radio in the GDR, so the origin of the band and the radio where the song ended up could be right, the fact that they sang in English, it was quite brave, because the authorities, and even more so the Stasi, didn't like English, but politics aside. I think it was a demo that was made before the band was actually formed, and so I think This is what it could have looked like

The pitch corrects the lyrics but I don't think this is the original pitch. Someone played the keyboard from the original song and it sounded exactly the same.
Now that the song was found (FEX - Subways of Your Mind), a somewhat higher quality version was uploaded, the original band made an acoustic rendition, and plans are being made for them to do a live performance, the title & info on this video ought to be changed to indicate that it was theoretical since the pitch in the latest versions sound very close to what this was edited from rather than this re-pitch.
Original: The Sun Will Never Shine (Radio Version 1982) My rough, incomplete draft of the lyrics I presume are the closest: Blind the wind, You came here running. Take the consequences for [living?] There's no space, There's no tomorrow, There's no sense for new division. Take it in, take it out while The Sun will never Shiiineee. Yeah, I know. I've since realized this does sound too high, but the singer's voice sounds right. I think the true pitch is closer to the one in the other pitch corrected version.
My interpretation of the lyrics: Like the wind, you came here running Take the consequence of leaving (living?) There's no space, there's no tomorrow There's no sent communications (or "There's no sense of ?unication", tho idk if there's such a word) Check it in, check it out, or the sun will never shine, Paranoid anyway in the subways of your mind (there's a long dirty way?) Like the wind, you're going somewhere Let a smile be your companion There's no place, and there's no sorrow In the young and restless dreamer (though the last word sounds more like "dreaming") Check it in, check it out, or the sun will never shine, Paranoid anyway in the subways of your mind, Check it in, check it out, it's the summer blues; Tear it in, tear it out, it's the real excuse; Check it in, check it out, it's the summer blues; Tear it in, tear it out, it's the real excuse etc.
@@blackhawksnbullsncubsnbear4615 It's interesting, the voice does sound a lot more clear and "natural" and I can imagine what the person singing might look like. But the instrumental definitely sounds a lot worse and tampered with.
I've noticed that people hear the lyrics differently shown by black hawk's comment and lyrics I've found on genius and by another person who commented lyrics on this video
Sounds Like classic nouveaux to me also another band who had a record contract but never made it famous, can’t remember the name but styled themselves on Duran
It sounds British possibly European Australian somewhat, it's much more clearer to hear in this version, when the voices are slowed from tape wear and age like on the original tms tape it doesn't help in identification, finding the singers country of origin through their accent by finding the right pitch could definitely help the direction of the search and hold a valuable clue.
I firmly believe it is Christian Brandl. The song talks of sadness. Christian Brandl died in 1987. Look up the obituary. Look up Discogs on Christian Brandl that he died of suicide March 1, 1987.
Possible lyrics I'm hearing (Before looking at what others have put in the comments) Blind the wind / Like the wind You can't run / You came here running Shape the consequence of you / Take the consequence of this / Shape the consequence of Him / Take the consequence of living There's no space There's no photo / No such photo There's no sense communication *No idea cus syth kicks in" ...The sun wont ever shine *Loud synth making it hard to hear but I can make out "Sunbeams/Sunwaves make you mine" Or "Time to make up your mind" Blind the wind/Like the wind Your own summer/Your hearts slumber *Now I'm bored, I stop*
As I said, I could be wrong, but I'm just not sure that the singers voice is that deep. What I pitched it to sound a bit more natural. It could be a bit lower than this.
The song was likely mastered in different pitches, similar to the Beatles. We can say this song isn’t concert pitch, because either the synth or vocals are at different pitchs.
It’s almost too quintessentially 80s to actually be from that time period. Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to believe it is. It makes for a good story either way.
I was thinking that too. Could've been an experiment for an artist to try and release an 80's sounding song, and see if people really believed it was from that era. If this is indeed an experiment, then they did a great job at emulating the style. Sure has me and a lot of others fooled
Wrong pitch. I have the original and it's much slower too. It came out in 1984 and Like the Wind is not the name of the song. I'll post the name tomorrow and maybe some others can have a go at it until then,.

We are too spoiled with digital music transfers. The tinny sound is just so awful now. It is so bad in the background, a sound in metal based tapes. The original definitely sounds like Alvin, but it also sounds crazy slow in certain parts of the song. However, if it is slowed down, it is a really short song. I really like Alvin's voice, only learned because of researching this song. It would be pretty cool if this song brought him back to life, even for a little while!

Here is my two sense, but I think this is actually a heartbreak song. Here is what I heard after playing the song and writing down what I have heard with bits of other interpretations thrown in:
Like the wind
You came here running
Take the consequence of leaving
There's no space
There's no tomorrow
There's no sense for munication
Check it in, check it out
Or the sun won’t ever shine
Right or wrong anyway
In the subways of your mind
Like the wind
Your going somewhere
Let a smile be your companion
There’s no place,
And there’s no sorrow
In the young and restless dreamer
Check it in, check it out
Or the sun won’t ever shine
Right or wrong, anyway
In the subways of your mind
(instrumental)
Check it in, check it out
Or the sun will never shine
Paranoid anyway, in the subways of your mind
Check it in, check it out
It’s the summer blues
Tear it in, Tear it out
For leavin’ me
Check it in, check it out
It’s the summer blues
Tear it in, tear it out
It’s a real excuse
Check it in, check it out
It’s the summer blues
Tear it in, tear it out
It’s a real excuse
Check it in, check it out
It’s the summer blues
Tear it in, tear it out
It’s a real excuse
I think why this song can't be found is because we really aren't searching physically and just digitally
Like the wind-nightcore/sped up/tiktok/adhd edition
This actually does kind of slap.
It's now in C#m or Dm key... I heard only Bm key version and thought it was original. Thank you.
Sounds much poppier lol. Did new wave/post-punk bands at the time commonly pitch their music down?
Idk
Nah, but a radio station at a time with negligible quality compared to clear digital era stuff could have been the cause. Tape wear might have gone down too.
@@Arceus5555 tape wear probably
@@denisdubovik228If I have the correct information, the song was recorded alongside other well known songs. If it was tape wear, it would have affected these songs aswell and been easily identified as a factor.

wow such a great song! I, for sure, would love to know the probably well known band in order to check out their other beautiful and certainly not deep mysteries rabbit-hole leading songs !
The original one is: Subways of your Mind by FEX 1983
A short lived band from Berlin who recorded this single in 1981 & only released 1 full length album in 1983. The song was not released on the album which is why even fans were not familiar with it. Anyway the song is called "Find The Wind" by Statues in Motion (aka S.I.M.)
Statues in Motion are from Greece, and they have been debunked for now (unless Alvin Dean ever comes forward, which seems unlikely at this point).
I think it was a demo that was made before the band was actually formed, and so I think This is what it could have looked like
My take:
Like the wind, you came running

There's no sense of new division
Check it in check it out or the sun won't ever shine

Quite a different voice when it's played at a presumably accurate speed.
It sounds more "pop" but I think it sounds sadder, especially the different pitch of the beginning
It definetely has some goth vibes
It's goth
New wave, post punk that vibes
The pitch corrects the lyrics but I don't think this is the original pitch. Someone played the keyboard from the original song and it sounded exactly the same.
This sounds like a demo i may have someone go into discography records to see if a band has a demo

@ thank you for sharing the news!!!!

If it's like the wind , why is he saying Blind the wind ?
its not right at all, after making the bass tabs for it this is almost impossible to play at this tempo with all the flairs the bass player does.
Yeah, I know. I've since realized this does sound too high, but the singer's voice sounds right. I think the true pitch is closer to the one in the other pitch corrected version.
Very nice version
I'm liking this uptempo version. I reckon maybe the true speed is somewhere between. Voice-wise the closest I've found is Chris Reed.
Not sure it needed correction, but it’s interesting to have an alternate version anyhow.
My interpretation of the lyrics:
Like the wind, you came here running
Take the consequence of leaving (living?)
There's no space, there's no tomorrow
There's no sent communications (or "There's no sense of ?unication", tho idk if there's such a word)
Check it in, check it out, or the sun will never shine,
Paranoid anyway in the subways of your mind (there's a long dirty way?)
Like the wind, you're going somewhere
Let a smile be your companion
There's no place, and there's no sorrow
In the young and restless dreamer (though the last word sounds more like "dreaming")
Check it in, check it out, or the sun will never shine,
Paranoid anyway in the subways of your mind,
Check it in, check it out, it's the summer blues;
Tear it in, tear it out, it's the real excuse;
Check it in, check it out, it's the summer blues;
Tear it in, tear it out, it's the real excuse etc.
i think it might be "the real refuse", not the real excuse at the end there
not sure what that would mean, but to me it sounds closer
For 'real excuse' I hear " 'cause I'm leaving you "

Good work 👌 it adds a new perspective, it may also have uncovered a big clue, listen carefully to the accent change.
There's an accent change? What does that imply? I personally think it's British (UK) accent and origin, but I could be wrong.
@@camspiracy1 glad I could help!

I firmly believe it is Christian Brandl. The song talks of sadness. Christian Brandl died in 1987. Look up the obituary. Look up Discogs on Christian Brandl that he died of suicide March 1, 1987.
it's more clear, and more rock, but the voice seems to me so un-natural and pitched

Blind the wind / Like the wind
You can't run / You came here running
Shape the consequence of you / Take the consequence of this / Shape the consequence of Him / Take the consequence of living
There's no space

...The sun wont ever shine
*Loud synth making it hard to hear but I can make out "Sunbeams/Sunwaves make you mine" Or "Time to make up your mind"

Your own summer/Your hearts slumber

Песня была создана в ГДР, группа, исполнявшая ее была подпольной, боялись афишироваться.
The voice sounds way too pitched up, I'm pretty sure it shouldn't sound like this.
As I said, I could be wrong, but I'm just not sure that the singers voice is that deep. What I pitched it to sound a bit more natural. It could be a bit lower than this.
@@blackhawksnbullsncubsnbear4615 Exactly, it should be a higher pitch, but this is way too high.

Um this actually sounds familiar to me it sounds like a song from a movie like rad or a b movie from the 80s
Vaguely reminds me of Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle in this pitch, but there are too many discrepancies for that to be correct.
Why does this sound like 1990s Eurobeat?? This is a deleted song from the anime Initial D.
