I searched for this a year ago when this turorial didnt exist but it was too hard for me so i cancelled my idea. But now with this Tutorial i can finally start this project! Its way easier than i thought
The number signs being off is the "off by one" thing us coders have to deal with. Array elements start with 0, so the value of the first element [0] is the name of the number 1 decal. The second element [1] will have the number 2, etc. Imagine how fun this is to code in a loop. :D
Pro-Tip from a frustrated newbie: There doesn't seem to be a way to link 2 separate road meshes together easily. You have to use the terrain editing tool. So if your trying to use the road meshes as actual roads, making intersections or strangely shaped roads is basically impossible. You'll have to get the terrain leveled under your roads first. If your using a jagged or scaled up heightmap this will be a major pain.

Same here unfortunately. I even tried messing with the terrain Material Library, but I can't seem to figure it out. All materials are empty and it can't find them.

i usually make maps for assetto corsa and i was ready for this to be 5 times harder. Little did i know i barely have to touch blender. It looks so much simpler espetialy because the textures and terrain brushes.
@@Luca.-.-. It's complicated. I recommend watching some tutorials. And if you're not good at blender that is something you will need to understand how to use.
I tried to apply grid2 material to the, base I guess. Wouldn't work, and also would not let me paint on the "base" either. Not srue what to do. I don't expect you to respond, as usual, but it would be nice.
is it better to "start" your world in the world editor, then pop it into blender? or can I just build an entire map in blender and import it into the game?
Definitely use blender as supplement for models and whatnot, not for the full map. I mean you can use blender for really whatever but I recommend using it for models mainly to add to map
great tutorial =) ive started to make my map, BUT my asset browser thing never worked sadly, so ive done all my roads and heights and whatnot, but i cant do assets :( it just says loading assets, and when i refresh it i can refresh it even over 100% and it never loads any assets.. i have a higher tier oc pc.. :EDIT, found it out, some custom mods must have had some asset that locked my asset loader up
@@Spealer I can set up the server but how would the map of the server should be inputted? cause from the beamMP guide it said to use the syntax for each map like Industrial map would be "industrial" in the script. Utah would be "utah" and so on. So how would this apply to it?

@@jme.147 sounds cool to me. I have progress videos of my map I am working on my channel and I also use my map even though it isn't finished lol I use it for show casing my cars I build in automation tycoon. I think it could take me a year to finish my map but it should be dev grade.
@@manicgamingguy6161 I just need to figure out how to make an 8192 height map, I’ve done it before but in a weird way and when importing the map everything was slightly bumpy, like in steps, which smoothing it out was fine but a pain to do so I’ll try a few different ways on making it bigger
@@jme.147 yea you did what i did and fillman did and just made the pixels bigger i think. you have to make a new height map it self as in a new file. i got a 4k one cause i took it from one of the other maps. 8k map is very big a lot of work. I would say go smaller and work on your skill level first. I kind of wish I did but I am in too deep now haha
@@manicgamingguy6161 yeah you are right it is gonna be a lot of work but I’d like to make a pretty big UK map seeing as there aren’t many UK maps in general + it will give me a nice project in the background, also I could always do parts as forest and then turn it into a motorway / town / village etc with updates

Another way to fix terrain from bugging out like that, is to just move it then hit ctrl z to undo the move, fixes it instantly

the terrain texture is broken. whenever i try to use a new terrain texture, it shows up missing textures. how can i fix

the game crashed when i import terrain, looking up at the sky stops it from crashing, but when i look down again it does crash

Look straight up, add the terrain, (add the terrain materials), save with ctrl+s, let the game crash, then keep editing as normal
