Hi Snowy Mario! That section contains "fingered harmonics". This is a technique executed by pushing the first finger normally on the string while the pinky touches the string very lightly a perfect 4th above the covered 1st finger(which produces the harmonic sound). When making a fingered harmonic on an open string the 3rd finger is placed lightly a perfect 4th interval above the open. This technique allows you to play harmonics on all the chromatic notes within a scale. I would recommend playing one octave G+ D+ and A+ scales in fingered harmonics to get the hang of it and then maybe try a one octave chromatic scale before attempting the section in Czardas. Note: for G+ scale the first two notes (G and A) will be in 1st position on the G string. G=0-3, A=1-4, B=1-4 in 2nd pos, C=1-4 in 3rd and then back to 1st position on the D string for D=0-3 and E=1-4, 2nd pos for F=1-4 and 3rd pos for G=1-4. I really hope this is somehow helpful and not overly complicated of an explanation! Thanks for asking and have a great day :-)

Hi Thomas, Dongsu Jang, Thank you for your very kind comment and question. You have a keen and discerning eye, I'm impressed that you noticed such a detail as a beginner. I have to admit that the thumb moving up like that stems from a very bad habit I developed in my younger years of learning violin. For many years my thumb was too far forward and clenched the neck too tightly and it caused a lot of tension in my entire left hand, especially the muscle in the hand directly below the thumb. I had a very kind, patient and wonderful violin teacher at University who helped me move the thumb back into a more relaxed position. I've managed to undo the old habit most of the time but it still sneaks back in when I shift into some higher positions, then it pops back to where it should be! So, long story short, don't put your thumb where I do from 0:37 to 0:39. If you look closely the thumb pops back to where it ideally should be at 0:40 and first part of 0:41 Hope this helps. It's a good lesson to learn things properly from the very beginning. It's very difficult to undo bad habits once they are ingrained into the mind and body. Wishing you the very best with your violin studies and hope you have enjoyment of playing for years to come. Have a nice day🌷🌞
Greatful thank you for your story and advice. Today I eventually did stable vibrato play, the key point was at the left thumb position!! I figured the role of thumb at vibrato, it has to support violin neck with counter force to 1-4 finger. Before this time I thought just shoulder and chin had to anchor violin body even if I press stronger the finger board at vibrato sound. As a result, violin moved with finger presure and shoulder rest fell out sometimes. I learn a great tip from you. Thank you again and have good days in your life.
@@thomasdongsujang5305 Ah, this makes me really happy to hear. I'm glad my delinquent thumb had a positive effect for you.☺Yes, the left thumb is a tricky part of playing as it should be back and as relaxed as possible but there is some counter pressure needed at times. Thanks for your kindness and wishing you a wonderful experience with learning.🎻🧡

Anybody have any idea on how to play the really high-pitched part at 3:51? None of the tutorials I've watched addresses this.

Todd, this video is on my channel because of you! I was hesitant to record such a well known piece when there are already countless recordings by incredible soloists on UA-cam but Daryl said if I think like that there would be no point in making any videos at all. The fact that you came in 1st place at the Ontario Provincial finals playing this piece gave me the confidence to share my fingerings, bowings and musical interpretation on this platform so I am very grateful to you for that.🙏🤍🤍🤍🙏 I have the best memories of helping you learn Czardas🤗🧡💛🧡
My dear friend~ Thank you for this nice sharing! 100 % love it!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

Your warm words brought tears to my eyes. I can't describe how grateful I am for your kind and encouraging comment. Occasionally I receive negative comments and normally I brush them away without too much thought but a recent one that was left on another one of my videos got under my skin and I have been feeling a bit disheartened by it. You have helped me to feel motivated to continue to share my performances on this platform. Thank you so much and I appreciate the hug too.🤗💛Wishing you a wonderful week, thanks again🌤🌞🌤✌

Dear sweet Rita, thank you for your interest in my little channel. Yes, it is a BIG SURPRISE to me as well to see so many views on this video. One of my more advanced students wanted to learn it and I thought it would be helpful for her to see my hands up close so I made this video for her. My entire channel started by accident, really, just a convenient way to share videos with my students when we couldn't have in person lessons back in 2021. The best present of all has been meeting wonderful youtubers like you from all over the world. It's been an unexpected treat.🍦🍭🍰🍭🍦I am very grateful. You and Hendo and Noldus always make me smile 😀Hugs to you Rita🤗🤗🤗Thanks again🙏🤍

Absolutely outstanding! Now, I really would love to watch you play Pablo de Sarasate's "Zigeunerweisen".
That is a terrific idea! I performed Zigeunerweisen at a recital in a little church chapel 30 years ago. I've helped a few of my very advanced students learn it over the years... I will put it on my list and start practising! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch Czardas and for your wonderful comment. Have a great day :-)
@@violinwithRosemary I will be anxiously waiting!!! Thanks so much for taking my request!!
@@61zulu77 you are very kind.💛 Please be patient as I am teaching 7 days a week and have a few other pieces on my UA-cam list 📃 to record first. Also it's a very advanced piece that I will have to practice up again, I hope it's still in my brain somewhere but it will inevitably take some time to prepare it well. Rest assured I am very excited about the idea and will do my best. Thanks again for your enthusiastic encouragement and interest in my channel, I really appreciate it 😊 ✌️
@@violinwithRosemary You are most welcome.
And it's probably much harder than Czardas

Thank you for beautiful sound and left hand close up. I'm a violin beginner and I wonder why left thumb moves to neck backside at deep vibrato. 0:39
I know nothing about a violin 🎻.
But I see how beautifully you played.
It was absolutely amazing performance.
