I follow the Solstice forum and it appears the 2006, which I have, has fewer issues than the newer ones. As a care ages it should statistically be worse for older cars. My 06 has almost 100,000 km. and I never seem to get any of the issues presented. I wonder if they took better care with assembling the first edition.
My problem is getting the p side clip to stay in the spring loaded hole in 2007 Solstice. Driver side works. Can't get the other to snap in and stay. Didn't see a fix for that issue.
My 07 Solstice has a Annoyong vibration on Pside. We're the pin goes into the slot. I've tried rubber padding ect. It's still there any recommendations? Thanks CS
I show the plastic piece at the 2:12 mark in the video. I just bought the bushings shown in the video and slid it on to the cable and popped that back into the hole on the plastic piece.
Dan Raasch, if all of the components are in tact except the bushing, then you can buy just the bushing at a discount auto part store. Unfortunately, if other components are damaged you will have to order the trap door and parts from the dealer. I was able to fix the driver side easy because I just needed the bushing. The passenger side has several parts damaged so the dealer was only place I could get what I needed. Also you can try salvage yards. I didn't bother to do that. My issue is that the inner part of the hinge for the trap door is damaged at the hinge (which is actually a rivet that i think is welded on), so I have not fixed the passenger side yet. Good luck to you sir, and also I think some one on the solstice forum found a different solution for this, go check it out and see if it solves you issue.
I just bought an 07 Solstice with the same problem. I’m thinking, why not just remove the flaps? The serve no functional purpose. They just hide the tops hinges behind the seats when the top is up. Am I wrong?
Wasn't "rushed" at all thats just your opinion and my friend has had his 2006 for 10 years with no major issues. I have a 2007 with 52,000 miles and no issues. No car is designed perfect if u know anything about cars.
Just bought a Solstice last week, thanks! The Dorman bushing worked.
I just bought a Sky today with the same problem...
Checking out your video😊
Look for Dorman 75450 for the pack of clips he is showing in the video.
Totally worked, thank you very much, gotta love UA-cam, this will also work on the Saturn Sky, used to fix my wife's Pontiac Solstice.
Glad it helped.
Well, I don't know now. I was thinking about buying a Pontiac Soltice, but they seem to have little tricky problems with that issue? What a bummer!
Thanks for this - I think it worked. Just did it so we’ll find out, but really appreciate the info!
Glad I could help.

I have the exact same problem on my 2007 solstice
It would have been more informative if Jesse had actually shown the plastic clip that fit and how he installed it.

My neighbor has a plastic melting pen for model building its a cheap tool and it's like a plastic welder
When the top is down the trunk completely covers the area where the flaps are so you could not tell if the flaps were there or not.
What do you mean? I have the top down in the video and you can see the flaps just fine.
I’m wrong, the flap doors are exposed with the top down
Disregard my previous comment. Lol
Jesse, did you ever solve the problem here? If so, how? I have the same problems.

My 2007 solstice does not latch properly. The hook needs to be pulled down, in order to fit in the cutout on the windshield
Have you checked the trap doors/flaps? Sometimes they do not open all the way. You actually have to pull them back just a little more by hand.
Ill do a short vid tomorrow.
What if my flap broke off

Well it looks bad, broken, when the top is down.
It looks terrible with 2 gaping holes on that top there.
Trust me I just lost the passenger side flap and it looks terrible. It makes it look like I don't take care of my car.
Ebay
Driver side always gies bad first.
My driver still good, paasenger side is the issue.
@@TheJesseacosta i agree, 07 solstice
I agree. Same on my 2008 Sky.
Solstice was a rushed roadster with design flaws. Its frustrating owning
cars that are not worth their investment.
I don’t know I got a 07 GXP and never had a problem but to each their own I guess I just heavily take care of my baby.... 😂

The bushing is plastic but the bracket is metal not plastic
