  • A great motorcycle backpack, but maybe not necessarily the best bag for everyday carry or work for instance. This is the review of the motorcycle backpack Kriega R20.

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
    HOW I REVIEW:
    As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
    DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
    A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.
    LINKS:
    For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals.
    For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.
    FULL DISCLOSURE:
    This video is not sponsored. While I sometimes get bags for free, I usually have to pay custom fees and in addition to that all my videos have lots of production costs. Therefore I invest my own money into all of these video and have no intention to be biased towards a product or company. All opinions in this video are my own unless stated otherwise.

    Great review Bo. I agree with everything you mentioned. I use mine for riding only. Kriega makes bags specific for laptop and riding so I'd go that route for work commuting. I put a back protector where the bladder goes. Sometimes I don't ride with a jacket and it's nice to know I have some protection. Ride safe. Cheers.

    Thanks for the review! I love mine for the reasons why many will shy away from this backpack. I am a female who is 5’ 3 and many backpacks are either to wide or too long for my short torso. In addition, I am trying to downsize the amount of stuff when I walk out of the house to bring to the office. This bag fits the bill for me. I do agree that if I need more space then I will use a different bag altogether.

      Thanks, Shawn. 17" is very difficult unfortunately. It isn't a very common size, the only bag that I know from the top of my head that used to accomodate a 17" laptop was the Life behind bars Peloton. But it is already in it's fifth iteration, so I'm not 100% sure if it still fits a laptop that size.

I'm also in Germany so I'm interested is that legal in Germany, I know that rear lights on anything that moves on road must be red but I'm not sure is it legal to have something else than your standard motorbike rear lights when on the road I know some countries don't allow it.

    • @Youknowthebo

    • @Youknowthebo

  • @naisanza

    Would you want the backpack to be touching the back seat so you're shoulders aren't carrying the full weight, or should it be tight to your body?

    • @georgesvalin2367
      @georgesvalin2367 3 роки тому

      I always had that question in mind, some time when I carry heavy stuff I tend to sit my backpack bottom on the backseat to ease the weight.... If I do so it's maybe because my backpack strap doesn't hold right tight on my shoulders and make it uncomfortable.

      I haven't tested the smaller version yet. From my experience with this one, I can say that the bags run smaller in practice than the specified volume capacity. I believe that the number of the volume is correct, but due to the shape not all the liters are usable if you pack anything other than clothing which are easily shape able. Hope this helps a little bit

    Just in case you didn't see my pm..
    I was wondering if you are likely to review any newer Lexdray bags. I'm looking for a casual looking bag, mostly for college, that is very durable in the hope that I will never have to replace it. I've been looking at the Lexdray Copenhagen specifically but there aren't many people who talk about it, though really all I want to know is if it will last a lifetime. From your experience with the whistler pack do you think it will? It will mostly be used for carrying a lot of books and often my coat too but will also be subjected to a bit of wear and tear from scraping on rocks and catching on things a bit - A strange side effect of a hobby 😂.

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  2 роки тому +1

      I'd say it is comfortable to walk around in theory. But in practice it also somewhat is, but I personally don't really like to use sternum straps when walking that much. And with sternum straps I don't mind the look if they aren't closed. This bag (also the Velomacchi) look a bit strange when the harness system isn't closed IMHO. So It is comfortable to walk around in it, I just don't like it much tbh

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  6 років тому

      Yes, the Rehose and the Rhake have been on my back a couple of times while I was riding either my motorcycle or bicycle. And they work very well as well of course. Dedicated motorcycle bags usually have the benefits of being a little stiffer (for safety reasons and no wind flutter), being reflective, having protection or a great harness system. But as long as you "only" are commuting at 50kph or something regular backpacks are working well on the bike as well. I just Mode them with a bike light or something reflective to improve visibility

      I might Check out the Kreiga myself I wonder if adding the US10 pouch would make a difference or move up to the R25, I like the strap system but the backpack system is lacking in features.
      Fair warning any bag that has motorcycle or camera attached to it will likely cost a lot more.

      Usually I would place the laptop first, but I scripted the video in the order "you can put a lot of stuff into the bag" and then I continue with the "curved back" in relation to the flat laptop. So to fit the picture with the wording of the script I loaded the laptop last. Hope that makes sense.

      Unfortunately not. Or at least I would advice against it. I assume that you need to carry some books or folders. And the backpanel is curved for better fit on a bike in a tucked position. This is very comfortable, but also makes packing books a bit "weird". It still works, however I would recommend to use a different bag for school

    The R30 is better as it is totally waterproof. The R20 isn't. I was going to buy the R30 and then I saw your Velomacchi review. I'm going to stump up the extra cash for that.

      Yeah, I had to exaggerate it to make it more visual, but the reality is actually pretty close. With gloves and helmet it is actually that fiddly.
