Paradox postapocalyptic city builder? This seems like a game that nobody would know how to play without reading a lot of websites to learn how to play it :D.
I have 470 hours clocked in on the game. Its very good and still manage to surprise me from time to time. I always play on the hardest difficulties because otherwise it get too easy. The music track is very good, try change the radio from time to time find those groovy tunes that will get you through a disaster. I also agree with OP it is a very immersive game that has a lot to offer on all stages in the game, even late games is good, as the map is huge and not often completely explored until late game. I got inspired to run another game as I haven't yet explored all of the latest DLC, by watching this excellent vid. Thanks.
This game flew under my radar as well. Although I don’t play too many city sims, I like the theme of post-apocalyptic survival. Definitely getting this game.
I had played it since early Early Access. At first it did´t catch me but i tried every time a major update came an the improvement until now is really good. Especially with the DLC´s. It´s a game that i very much like to come back to and play for several hours.
Thanks for this video, It's gonna be free on Epics and was thinking about getting it. I like all but the world map being populated with other people and having to search the world and risk running into other colonies. I prefer just my own little city/ colony and working on and expanding it without outside issues lol.
i get where you're coming from. I also prefer to build and optimize at my leisure, but... somehow this game strikes a great balance between what you're saying and making you leave your comfort zone. this took me by surprise TBH. and despite me worrying at first that I will have to go wandering in the world map it was surprisingly uninvasive and kinda organic. Have you tried it out already from Epic? Any thoughts?
@@Gamesquisition That makes it sound more interesting to me. I got the game but haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the reply, I'll check it out today. May do like you did and upload my first time game play.
Bought this when the game was in beta. Sunk hours into it when i first bought the game. Recently picked it back up and I have to say it's great, the only thing I would say is that there should be more of a variety of disasters imo. Currently on day 200 and winter storms are just getting annoying at this point lol.
Just got this game free on Epic and am gonna give it a shot before deciding if I want to pay the $12 to get the expansion content and all that. Thanks for the review.
Gotten the freebie and went in without any expectations, and.. i’ve played 40 hours so far, longer than time put in for starfield! Still enjoying Survive the Aftermath!
@@aavon2316 I got it but haven't installed it yet. Been busy but I'm looking forward to it. Been playing Cosmoteer recently for the last week but I'm about to the end of the alpha content
i bought this on a whim a few weeks ago for $15 after seeing similar videos and man any time i get downtime to play im firing this game up over others, its just addicitng, fun, simple graphics aint high quality but the game itself in my opinion is awesome all around
I have played it since release and reviewed it and all DLC. Vanilla is already good and imho every DLC made it even better. I fully agree with yourassessmen. I play on normal ish which leads to 75% and it is very doable once you know the basics. I need about 14 to 16 hrs for a playthrough (before the new dlc and patch, I think now it takes a bit longer).
As this was my 1 run I chose a simpler difficulty. Hate it when I'm overwhelmed on first playthrough. Like Total War Warhammer. Which I love to watch but hate to play at the same time. Too complex, too much going on for me to wrap my head around. I do love watching the battles tho in other pplz playthroughs.
@@Gamesquisition Yes, that is a very good point. If you start owly you can actually probably finish the playthrough and learn a lot about the mechanics and then you can still increase it :) When I started I had some failures. As you rightly point out, science is super important. It is not so easy to bounce back once things go down the train :)
Fun at the start. Tedious from halfway. And there had better be some intelligence guiding those meteors that never ever hit anything besides my favorite buildings.
I just noticed this game is free on the playstation subscription I'm wondering do you have any reviews on the expansion packs or bundles that are offered with the game as far as how valuable they are and the different game modes they offer?
The amount of times I had to restart levels on FP was unreal, deciding to build an extra house instead of a hunter early on caused a failure...I'll give Surviving the Aftermath a go :) thanks for your review. @@Gamesquisition
Hey @WheresMyTardis - awesome to see you here! Loved the game, hope you like it too. Tons of extra content available for it as well. Prepare for sleepless nights ;)
If by any chance you didn't get the game, it's free today on Epic Games. It will be available until next Thursday 23rd November at I think 4PM gmt (UK).
Hello! I'm saving the game. When I reopen it, the loading screen stops halfway. The music continues, the texts change, but the loading bar never goes past halfway. I waited for a long time, but it never opens. Does anyone know the solution?
An enjoyable 36 hours on this game so far, a game I gotten it for free on Epic. Spent lesser time on Starfield, a game I spent 100 bucks on. Such is the quality of games like Survive the Aftermath!
Thanks for the info! Never tried it on consoles. There's something about playing RTS and cRPG games on consoles with a controller that scares the heck outta me. :P
This looks kinda boring. I'm not to big a fan of city builders especially being in the next gen of gaming I expect a more xcom type with the city builder backbone that would be more enjoyable. But hey to each their own.
There are no "new & good" xcom-type games Even Xenonauts 2 is basically a 3D remake of Xenonauts 1 But good for them They finally managed to fix their save/load glitch Firaxis dropped the ball on xcom3 Prefering to create the garbage midnight suns instead The next xcom game may as well be titled XCOM:AGAIN Idk why some company hasn't jumped all over this And bring the 4X system into the mix....

nah, Paradox is just the publisher. That's why the game is actually playable without a PhD in the rules :)

just downloaded, does it take forever to get into game for you aswell?
define "forever" ;)
@@tofupanda8168yes it was stuck on empty loading screen for 10 minutes. Restarting the game helped me though
This game is free on epic games at the moment, with what seems to be all the DLC as well.
great catch @Muklar26 - thank you!
Epic Games has this for free this week
Gotta love freebies

The first ever review that doesn't spoil the ending, great review
I just noticed this game is free on the playstation subscription I'm wondering do you have any reviews on the expansion packs or bundles that are offered with the game as far as how valuable they are and the different game modes they offer?
Hi, afraid I only played the base game. So can't relly recommend anything to you atm.
@@Gamesquisition do you have any plans on making content on the dlc's?
The complete edition is on sale now on ps store for 18cad$, pretty good price.
Awesome review! I've been looking for a city builder set in a post-apocalyptic world, and had no idea this existed.
Glad I could help!
Jumped in recently with the game being free on Epic Games really enjoying it and was easy to understand the games menu without diving into guides
Which DLCs should you get for playing the Sandbox mode?
As far as I remember there is a sandbox mode in the base version of the game :)
I got this on Epic. Can't wait to play. Great review :)
Great review! Best of luck with your channel!
Thanks for the visit
FrostPunk anyone? Seems very similar. I've been looking for a game similar to FrostPunkk for ages so I'm looking forward to playing this.

Ok after watch this video I know I choose the wrong version to play (Switch), the graphic is down-graded a lot…I would have to buy a console version
Thx, helpful review, well made 👍
Thanks for watching!
I sort of like it, but I don't. I really like surviving Mars, and I feel like it's similar to that game, but I can't get on with the art style
it looks pretty cool, but for now the schedule is clogged :P

Any good in your opinion?
@@Gamesquisition it's ok! I have to try to play campain, only skirmish so far.
No zombies?
Not really. Was shocked too :)
Great production👍👍👏👏
Thank you 🙌
Yeah, an amazing game but doesn't work on console and I've been waiting months to actually play the game for more than 30 minutes.
I've been playing this on Xbox Series S and it's ran perfectly for well over a dozen hours. I have none of the DLC installed tho.

no mention to DLCs?
Heya, didn't have time to play yet, and this was posted a few days before the Rebirth DLC. Thanks for dropping in mate!
This or state of decay 2
Is this a real question
Not for the switch I'll say. No dlc
3$ on cdkeys right now
worth it in my opinion
Comment nice video
Sucks on the switch
Does this game require an internet connection to play if you have a physical copy?
I actually own it on steam.
