As someone who knows a little Japanese and wants to be fluent in at least Japanese and Korean- I find it interesting that most Japanese people still want to learn English. (when I visited Japan as part of an exchange- the kindergarten kids knew so many English words, it was a little suprising to see them so fluent already, when they were so young) I was going to study Japanese and German at uni, but they move on too quickly (compared to high school) and I couldn't memorise it quick enough (also, because my last name is German, the lecturer kept picking on me, thinking that I already knew German. OTL ) I find hiragana and katakana quite easy to remember, but hangyul and kanji confuse me (one has too many lines, and the other has too little?? ) I haven't given up on learning Japanese or Korean, i'm just taking small steps. (props to anyone who knows more than one language or is learning another language 💕 )

I'm Hungarian. But I grew up in Germany and still live here. At home we speak Hungarian but I'm not fluent.
So far I can speak Hungarian, German and English.
But I am learning Korean since a year, Mandarin and simplified Chinese as well and Japanese, too.
I can speak a little Korean so I'm able to learn Japanese in Korean :D Therefore I have more material to learn Japanese than only in English or German

Hey there @CathyCat - I like the British accent as well and, even though I'm not Japanese, I'm actually in vacation in Japan right now and it seems quite surprising for the people here to meet a Romanian. In turn, I've been surprised myself when many asked me if Romania has its own language (or otherwise if we speak English as the official language).
Also, I admire very much the way you speak Japanese miss @CathyCat. I have heard many English/US people (and probably from somewhere else too) correctly speaking it, from a vocabulary and grammatical point of view, but adding a very English sounding accent to it. When you switch over, your amazing British accent totally goes away and you sound very very Japanese! Because Romanian is a language where you read something exactly how it's written, the Japanese spoken language come almost naturally to us (or so I think, it's quite easy for me to speak something sounding quite close to how Japanese people say it).
