I had the coolest babysitter she used to bring round her The mission, sisters of mercy and these on vinyl and play them till my parents got home 😎 37 now and still listening to them all on vinyl
Your babysitter taught you well!
Damn that’s cool as fuck
Damn, you were quite lucky then.
I imagine your babysitter as a badass gothic girl taking care of you while listening to dark wave bands, lucky you man!
WOW You are so lucky. She must feel so proud of you after all these years!
Their sound is so magical.
i love u..........................................................
Noooooo, satanic I would say👎
Oui un son 🔊 magique et non satanique ⭐⭐
Love this band. Unique in the scene. They never got the recognition they deserved.
From the "Dawnrazor album to the "Nephilim album this blew over alot of people's heads. Even some of the goth heads couldn't understand the deep depth this band had . A major influence in my life since there first albums . I couldn't agree with you more.
Well played sir👍👍👍
Very true
Its ok...they didn't sell out.....

Word!
Still goose bumps After all these years!!!!
THESE GUYS ARE ONE OF THE BEST GOTH BANDS OUT THERE.
Delete ONE OF, please.
@@patrikknoerr9777There's a lot of best ones tho 😁. Probably could make a good case for them being the most unique one.
Does anyone remember the days in the 80's when Goths would try and do a 'Neph' look and basically pour flour over themselves so they get all 'dusty' and looked like they have been walking through a desert/dusty western city. Ah they were the days! :D
I remember that well
That's also pretty much what the industrial folks are doing now ;)
Ha! I did that, but I didn't use flour, me and a friend went to a local chalk pit and got covered in dust one summer evening, then onto the club!
from norway here, in the late 80ies the tuff guys had sort of home made trench coats and poured olive oil on them and walked past semi trailers to get the dusty look and it actually worked =)
Still happens, but yes, it's more of a Neph thing :) I always crack up with all the Carl McCoy impersonators that you see on their way to see the band :)
I saw them in 1989 in Bristol, what a concert that was, one of the best ever. I covered myself in flour for the occasion. A girl in a wedding dress covered in fake blood stood next to me in the queue outside. She was highly unusual and making erratic gestures with her hands. All part of the pre-gig experience! Forever remain!
eine Hymne... ich liebe dieses Lied, seit 30 Jahren!
I feel like the mood the song is uplifting, to the moon and never return.
I never get tired of this song, fresh as ever.
YES!
Used to watch this band practice lunchtimes down Bowes Lyon House in stevenage up stairs in the hall. i heard an early version of this song moonchild back in 86. brilliant band.
You lucky git!
So fortunate
I envy you sir!
this song has strange beautiful unnamed feeling i cannot describe with words...best band ever
Well you would say that wouldn't you? Mr has Carl McCoy as a profile pic.
That's the beauty and uniqueness of Gothic Music, it produces emotions, feelings and imagery in your mind that no other genre of music can create.
i think Is the tonality Is very used in the 80's the goth bands use a Lot the gypsy scale and heavy metal use much More the Harmonic minor, the gypsy Is the double Harmonic minor scale
yes.....🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
study Gypsy Roma and Traveller History and Culture
With sisters of mercy, the mission, depeche mode, the cure, sad lovers and giants, all of them were the magical sound of my youth...
I still love their music so much much...
Well this is right.....MOON CHILD ......LOWER ME DOWN DOWN MOON CHILD YES IN MY VIENNS................
thank you, someone finally mentioned SLAG
How can anyone ever extinguish this mighty form of music. They can't. It'll live on in the annals of history !
Who's trying to? Only shit music is forgotten. This band perfectly encapsulatesthe Goth age
Bass line is insane ❤️
One of the best intro of the dark wave. Gothic Masters. 🦇
This isn’t dark wave
Really, this is the most gothic music video I've ever seen. I love Fields of the Nephilim!!
Was lucky enough to see these guys live when this album came out. One of my favorite live shows of all time.
🔥
That riff goth masterpiece
Underrated Genius
Holiday in London 1987. I was 17 years old. Talk to an Gothgirl about Sisters, Mission, Bauhaus. She said Fields is the hottest shit right now.
I went to Virgin Store and buy Burning the Fields Ep and Dawnrazor on vinyl. Both standing in my record shelf until today and many more.
(She was hot too 😉)
Love this. They played a gig for students in Cambridge in early ‘88. I was one of the organisers, and spent the afternoon buying flour for them to sprinkle on their hats. Strangest rider item ever. Happy times.
WoW That's such a great memory & so entertaining & i asked my friend Steve Rolf to throw a bottle of talcum powder all over me 😆😆😆 i live in Norwich so Good to meet you & i Really LOVE THIS ONE 🌝🌙🌝 🎶🎶🎶 🎸🎸🎸
Happy Times ❤❤❤My friend Andy Jenkin finally listened to The Fields of the NEPHILIM 🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶 🥁🥁🥁 on Utube last night & he just gave a hilarious description of the Singers Voice 🦇🦇🦇 & he did an Hysterical Impersonation because he's like Peter Sellers 🤣🤣🤣 too darn funny to even cope with 🤣🤣🤣
I've got 47, became listing those guys in 80's... beautiful times, pure atmosphere, great generation!
What ? Do you mean you are 47 ?
Best gig I ever went too was going to see FOTN at the queen's hall in Bradford around 1990 what a band and what a night.
I was there too, great goth band. The goth scene around Bradford & Leeds back then was the best in the country and I can say I was one of them along with my sister Charlotte
Absolute Banger
I love discovering new music.
Especially when it's actually from quite a while past.
Funny how I missed this band back then when I was so into The Mission, Sisters of Mercy and Clan of Xymox. Loving catching up now !
Me too, totally flew under the radar for me
I found them due to the Mission as they toured together
@@thegremlin3194 i only just thought too, as i thought my cousins husband has a drum kit from the drummer of Fields in his studio at their home..
In my home town in the north of England, we had a few goth club's in the early- mid eighties.
They were great days, I notice even today that people are starting to replicate that era.
the original cowboys from hell...
Explain that plss
@@eddmvb8600 i think that's a reference to metal band pantera - album 'cowboys from hell'
@@Jurica-mtb pantera are hardly black metal lol
@@Jurica-mtb thanks mate.not a fan of black metal, dimmu and behemoth aside but listening to the new mayhem now and it's very good.has more of a 'groove' thing going on than their previous works.
From Stevenage anyway which is probably quite similar....
This is what happens when you put Cowboys and Goths together
Perfect style combo
💥🏴☠️
Y'allternative
The perfect combo! Billy the kid was goth!
And Quite nice Sound Engeniering as well 👻
The originator of the gunslinger goth aesthetic...
I thought I was familiar with all the Dark Wave bands of the 80s then I discovered Fields of the Nephilim.

Bau and FotN are awesome. This playlist needs some Sisters of mercy
Always loved their sound. Great guitar work. All around great band.
@@Jurica-mtbI'm 16, so don't judge but bands/artists who I feel have the same sort of beautiful guitar sound would be new order, Johnny Marr, the mission and the cure I guess
@@Jurica-mtb maybe listen to some of public image limited, I would recommend "theme", "poptones" & "Public image".
Fields of the Nephilm.
Legends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the first time I've listened to these guys, and they're cool!
São perfeitos!!!!
Out of all the Goth bands that came out of the scene. Bauhaus, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, and The Mission UK. Fields of the Nephilim is the best out of all of them. I'm not saying those other bands are terrible. I just find with Fields of the Nephilim they were the Alice in Chains of the Goth Scene. They were the heaviest, and they were willing to go full metal in their songs especially in their later albums. and their songs and lyrics were just so darker and ominous with the Occult themes they used that just separated them from all the other bands. Not only that, but they inspired a lot of Metal bands as well. From Paradise Lost, and My Dying Bride, to bands like Rotting Christ.
Meh, can't compare greatness with greatness
❤
so they are the best because they went more metal in the goth scene?
Cure is much more than "goth", they are in other upper dimension of all these bands
It sounds Scandinavian, lol! It's cool...reminds me of The damned or Type O Negative meets Samhain... 🤙😽
One of the very best bands I ever had the privilege to see live. Saw them in various pits pre-Dawnrazor, then in bigger venues during the Dawnrazor period, and bigger still during the Nephilim album cycle and finally at the Mission XXV Anniversary bash at Brixton. They have never disappointed and remain one of my favourite bands ever. Totally agree they never got the kudos they deserved.
Oooooohhhhh , that bass line is soooooo good.........
Sitting here. listening to FOTN in remembereance of a long lost friend, Michael Lauer, of whom I heard he passed away on october 17th 2019. RIP
hope your doing well, sending my love 🕊️
@@frankie201 Thank you, Frankie - I slowly wake from numbness, letting sink in what happened. Guess that's what they mean by saying "if the bleeding starts a wound can heal".
Really great at night driving
Saw them in concert once in Manchester decades ago...great gig.
Truly great band
One of the greats.
It is amazing to see how FOTN retells the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice
Wild and free and beautiful
Carl McCoy has a western goth style I like it
I think she means "cowboy like" goth style..
Wellcome to the Russia.
@manu ochenta yes there is.
That would be a steampunk style.
Andrea Berkis steampunk didn’t even exist back then, the music press dubbed them Spaghetti Metal after the influence of Spaghetti Westerns on their image. It was all very stylised, I remember being covered with a fine dusting of flour at a gig of theirs in 1988.
Geeez this choon neva wears thin. The main man, the band, the talent!!
Jus awesum!!!!!
Yep when it's come to fantastic looks and guitar they are awesome 😎
I can listen to goth for hours & hours
I remember I used to love hearing them on the radio & seeing them on MTV back in the day. I feel like they've gotten to be super underrated tho, over time. I love their dark sound & that cool jangling guitar.
Such artistry, this must be from a bygone era when people could take creative risks.
Although I agree, the Nephilim remain perhaps the _only_ band to have achieved success without daytime radio airplay, no Peel session, and facing a huge amount of media hostility (or simply a lack of media). Had they not built up a following on the live circuit via word of mouth and impressive performances, they would have been completely ignored. That they broke through and did incredibly well completely on their own merits is, as far as I am aware, basically a one-off. The creative risk that they took thus paid off, but they probably remain the exception that proves the rule - even for that era, which boasted huge numbers of vastly creative groups.
This might just be the greatest music video of all time. Unbeatable music and the symbolism is perfection.
most mystical band , EVER ...
This is spiritual art for end times🕵️♀️
I have a fascination for the golden age of dethrock. Especially for more rockin' acts with enigmatic frontpeople.
Saw the Fields loads back in the 80's. I think the first time I saw them was at the Rock City all dayer in about 86. Went in on Crazy Heads guest list.
Lol rock city notts
Crazy head played in Grantham at images 2
Definitely picking up influences from Sisters of Mercy. ❤️👍🏻👍🏻
Pity its not in the original 4:3 aspect ratio. About a third of the picture is missing in this version.
i remember when this album came out, peeps dont know how they changed the musical landscape!
salmonfire I wouldn’t say they changed anything, but it was the last great goth album of the eighties.
Prophétique
Start with this, then Sisters of Mercy, then The Cure and reach Nirvana with the Cocteau Twins!!!!
starting with this was never an option.
the producers screwed this band from day one. they buried the vocals beneath the instrumentation. every time i listen to the Nephs i'm always loving the music but turned off by the vocals.
Kind of criminal not to mention The Cult and their first two albums.
@@drunkvegangal8089 I believe they meant the state of perpetual bliss, Nirvana, not the band.
@@drunkvegangal8089 I read it like that at first too. I thought it was always capitalized so I guess I learned something today!

Who needs The Sisters or The Mish?
Yes I second that , great band , xxx
chorus part is amazing
Sounds like Andrew Eldritch joins The Mission! 😃❤️ Love it! Really good!
BURGERRAMA sounds like Andrew Eldritch joins the Mission? You are aware that the bulk of the Mission were originally in the Sisters of Mercy aren’t you? So the sound of everything Sisters of Mercy did from Temple of Love to First and Last and Always is essentially the sound of Eldritch with the Mission. They left him before he recorded Floodland.
You can definitely tell that these dudes listened to the Sisters of Mercy.
cave scene filmed in Italy at caves of dragh,,,been there its beautiful .
