I don't know how many times I've listened to these two songs but it's never enough. I wish these guys would create more albums because there's nothing quite like them.

I still don't know how these peak moments in a bands career come up. Something seems to hit them and - BAM - they write a masterpiece that even they themselves could not beat despite all their fantastic releases before and after the release of "Elizium". But these two songs (basically it's one song I'd say) are unmatched and have become a classic in Goth Rock.
There's something about these songs. Something so intangible, so incomprehensible. Something explicit. It's like it's a prayer. Or lamenting for something lost.
Рік тому+3
Definitely. It takes us to beautiful places where we aren't anymore, but to which we'll return one day.
Sublime. "And There will..." is probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

I wholeheartedly agree. The entire Elizium album is a revelation. After decades of listening to it it still gives me goosebumps. That's what good music's upposed to do!
@ I agree. There is only one album that can keep up with it. "Script of the Bridge / Chameleons".
Рік тому+3
@@christianbertram6504 Of course I know the Chameleons, but never got into them too deeply. "Swamp Thing" or "Soul in isolation" are great songs, but I guess I'll just buy the album you mentioned. Thanks for the hint!
Inspirational then, inspirational now. Ever since Leeds Uni in the late 80's. The sadness within... memories that fade in the passing of years to be reborn once a track is rediscovered. Suffer the aging... These help us to find our way....
Usually, I never listen to any form of rock. I much prefer light pop music. However, I decided to listen to these two songs and I honestly have really enjoyed them. I respect the effort that the artist has put into this piece, therefore I have bought the CD

That's the best result my videos can have. Introduce people to artists they might have not been aware of before. It takes a little bit of time to get into this awesome piece of Goth Rock history, but it's absolutely worth it. Great that you enjoyed the music in this vid and even bought the Elyzium CD!
Brings back so many memories of a mopey gothy youth. Still holds up very well. Good production value, great musicianship, and as always fantastic drumming... always thought the FotN drummer was probably the best in the genre.
Elizium and earth inferno....the gothic Empire......studio and live.. the masterpieces of everything.....the beggining and the end...gods of goth....nothing can be compared to this band...they are the GOTHIC. the rest are the others.....no Words to describe this band....
@@nigelblockhead80ummmmm so? OBVIOUSLY this person believes this band personifies what gothic is to her. What TF …..duh yea clearly other bands were around but any that sounds like FOTN ? Nope. I’ve been in the scene since 1985….so don’t give me a silly goth lesson.

A lot of more rock-oriented people also like niche stuff like the Fields. I think that especially Pink Floyd fans are very happy with this album. In a way it actually reminds me of the ethereal, psychedelic side of PF.
These 2 collective pieces demonstrate an avalanche of darkness intertwined with a deep melancholic essence. The video to coincide with the music really illustrates that of a feeling of an out of body experience within a dream state reality. The entirety of Elyzium stands hands down as one of the finest gatherings of work in both terms of a sonic and artistic standpoint, and the 1988 self-titled album is also more or less up there. The work Mccoy did in 2005 was a great return to form but it just fell short of fully reigniting the essence of the 2 albums I mentioned - at least in my eyes, although I still love the 2005 album.

You hit the nail. What you say the music evokes on an emotional and spiritual level ist what I tried to get across in the video. The creation process, If I may call it that, was almost purely automatic. It all just clicked in place, as If I was just the hands working the keyboard. The intuition did the rest. I also agree on what you say about "Mourning Sun". Great album really, but such an album like "Elyzium" cannot be reproduced. I don't know what it was that inspired the Fields back then, but I guess it was rooted in the areas beyond rationality. Thanks for your kind words, Dancer CJ.
"Out of body experience" is probably the best descriptor I've heard of these songs. Really makes you feel like you're floating in the aether or in an ocean, unbound from all the constant troubles of day to day life. It's melancholic, yes, but also one of those songs that emanates a deep-seated feeling of true liberation that sticks with you.
The only CD I still have. Best album ever. And my favourite(s) song(s) from it. 14mn of Heaven. What is the name of the font you used for the lyrics, please ? I recognize the one from the CD. Thank you for the video and the fields tribute.
This is addressed to the disclaimer: First I wish to convey my sincere admiration for this excellent video and for choosing those 2 “majestic” songs! The first time I saw the video, namely in its middle, I couldn’t help myself thinking of Pink Floyd’s comfortably Numb… and surprisingly, while reading your introduction now, I noticed that u have described FOTN as the Pink Floyd of Gothic Rock!! Well said, and cannot agree more

They really have a lot of Pink Floyd on this album, and it mixes so well with Goth stylistic means. And thanks so much for your praise!
@ interestingly enough, Andy Jackson, of Pink Floyd fame, produced the album Elizium as well as play guitar with the band Eden House, for live performances . His Pink Floyd "sound" can definitely be heard and his influence on Carl and the band is in there. cheers

@@astrozombie138 OK, this explains a lot. Didn't know that, thanks for the info! And BTW: The Eden House are awesome!

Pettitt spielt heutzutage in der Band "The Eden House".
Everyone I gave it to listen to said that it was the strangest and most complex music. The guitar howls like a whale, the bass leads the line, the lyrics in which there is an incredible longing for something lost. Mysticism, something out of our world. And everyone says that for some reason it brings to mind the color violet, about the heavens. It's as if you've lost something or someone behind a door that's locked forever.
These are great words to decribe the music. But I don't see violet, I see endless fields of crop in the blue hour. Feeling a warm breeze. That must sound strange, but those pictures pop up inside me while listening to the music. And I don't feel like missing anything. When I listen to the music, I expirience the realization of the deepest wishes from the deepest bottom of my heart. It feels like being right there.@@YevhenMerzlikin-qq9xs
