tusheschannel Yes, that level is a nightmare, you really need to bomb quite a bit to make it through without taking damage. Agreed about the soundtrack, that's also my favorite song in this game.
Pegboy I used to like using the fully charged Power Shot too to shoot as many of the ship walls as I could, and trigger the debris explosions before I got too close to them. It's an awesome weapon, fully charged, it's second only to the bomb in terms of power.
I was never a fan of the Missiles, they just didn't seem to have the punch of the other weapons, perhaps I just didn't give them enough time. My personal favourites were the aforementioned Power Shot, The Multi Direction and the Scatter (I think that was its name, the 8th weapon with the exploding balls). The standard weapon was cool too, just for the sheer number of bullet patterns you could choose with it.
ive figured out how to use the 5 missile the best anyone can in this game i think. theirs little tricks you can do with it. like because the missiles shoot straight out from either side. you can shoot enemies ahead. while you are right beside like one of those enemy spawn doors. and blow it up i dont know if you read me but.... yea

@@ExtraerLC I would consider "Space Megaforce" a spiritual sequel to "Gun Nac", which means that they are very similar in lots of ways even though the second game isn't an actual sequel; it's kind of like how "Perfect Dark" is a spiritual sequel to "GoldenEye 007".
@@Peter_1986 It's curious because when you watch a Space Megaforce gamecplay By chance on UA-cam the first thing that came to me At the head was Gun Nac and then Zanac when the ship toward the animation of retreat at the end of a level
There are two versions of this game, if i remember, one with slightly different voices and some extra music that can not be found in the other, I had it at a time in emulation, but I never managed to find this rom then.
The Japanese version has different voices, and also a music track for Area 3 that doesn't exist in the American version. The reason why they removed that track was because it sounded exactly like parts of various songs from artists, like the chorus for the song "The Perfect Kiss" by New Order.
It is kind of like a "spiritual successor", in other words a game that shares lots of game mechanics with an older game and has the same general style. A few other examples of games like that are "Star Ocean" and "Perfect Dark", which were spiritual successors to "Tales Of Phantasia" and "GoldenEye 007". Also, the NES games "Castlevania" and "Ninja Gaiden" have very similar game mechanics.
And now, will you try to beat the game on wild setting without bullet cancel ? I did it on tricky mode and i'm trying to do the same but on wild difficulty. I still die in area 8.
TBYVGS BOS Man that's nuts, I can't believe you did that on Tricky or even made it to area 8 without power shot on wild. What weapons are you using? I think it might be possible using Sprite (weapon #7) but that cancels bullets too so I'm not sure if you would allow it.
Pegboy I honestly think that the wild setting is nearly impossible to beat without bullet cancel, so I would be proud if I only could do just a 1CC...I'm sure that power shot was specially designed for tricky and wild modes. But it's possible to beat tricky mode with another weapon (I beat this game using weapon 3) or without cancel. Wild mode is too fast and deadly to be beaten without power shot and without losing. So I still try to win, but I'm not sure I will make it one day...
Pegboy I reached area 9 on my last attempt a few hours ago. Area 8 is a level from hell ! And when I think there are still 4 areas left ahead...Areas 9,11 and 12 are short, but area 10 seems like a gateway to this goal. It's a crazy goal, but that's why I still try to reach it ! STG players are insane...I'm sure we STG players are all crazy !^^
TBYVGS BOS I agree that Area 8 and 10 are probably the hardest in the game. The Area 10 boss in particular seems impossible unless you have power shot or sprite.
@@PEG I'm playing on hard and can't get passed Area 8. I feel like once you die there, it's almost impossible to level back up. I really only use Lazer for the bullet cancelling and I struggle with Power. I always mistime my blasts
Area 8 is the hardest level in the game, definately the part that cost me the most runs. You really need to learn how to time the power shot to get through it. Also remember there are 2 modes for each weapon, one charges much faster than the other for power shot.

The Power Shot is your best friend in the 8th stage. Makes it so much easier.
with other weapons than 6 its hard
here I am, almost the end of 2024, watching this video to understand how to pass the game in wild mode, to complete the Retro Achievements 😊
excelente , uno de los mejores juegos de naves , la dificultad las armas y muchos mundos
👍😎🎮
No era difícil, porque yo recuerde nunca morías xd. Pero era muy entretenido; y el soundtrack le daba una buena atmósfera.
Some tense moments in the Ship Graveyard level! That level was a bastard (with a kick ass spooky soundtrack!)
tusheschannel Yes, that level is a nightmare, you really need to bomb quite a bit to make it through without taking damage.
+tusheschannel i am getting close to beating this game
and i've been having good luck with the 5 missile
I was never a fan of the Missiles, they just didn't seem to have the punch of the other weapons, perhaps I just didn't give them enough time. My personal favourites were the aforementioned Power Shot, The Multi Direction and the Scatter (I think that was its name, the 8th weapon with the exploding balls). The standard weapon was cool too, just for the sheer number of bullet patterns you could choose with it.
ive figured out how to use the 5 missile the best anyone can in this game i think.
theirs little tricks you can do with it.
like because the missiles shoot straight out from either side. you can shoot enemies ahead. while you are right beside like one of those enemy spawn doors. and blow it up
i dont know if you read me but.... yea
This game is SNES version of BLAZIN' LAZERS for the turbo-grafx-16 system back in the day.👍
Always like to see charging lasers of total anihilation in games, in right use they may be so handy, but in wrong they may seem too hard weapon to use
You wildin.
Freaking impressive
damn dude, good work
That first and second stage soundtrack was MY SHITTTTTT!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
This one is flipping hard. I just beat it now. Hut fuck level 11 that took almost all my lives up
currently playing this game its super difficult even on easy very impressive
What would the balls with the numbers you kept on avoiding do if you touched them?
Also, great playing!
Thanks. They are different weapons you can use. I use weapon 6 throughout because it can destroy bullets.
@@PEG
Power Shot is the only good weapon during this kind of challenge, along with as many Bombs as possible of course.
the music sucks hard. Super impose Musha's music on this. its the same devs i think, and snes had generally better music, why did they fail???
I'm a couple minutes away from playing this bad boi for the first time. Super excited. Can't believe I've never come across it until now. You are a beast that's for sure. Seriously impressive lol; lemme ask because I usually need to play a Vertical Shooter like this for 5-10 hours before I feel really comfortable and used to it. How many hours have you put into this (Estimated obviously I'm sure you haven't kept track) to get to this level of skill?
I was playing it off and on for a few weeks, I don't remember exactly but maybe around 30 hours.
i can say this is real console from background humming sound
I've gotten a one-credit clear on Normal, Hard, Hyper, and Tricky, but I've yet to beat Wild. This is really something.
It's a huge jump in difficulty from the other modes, no doubt.

Question:Isn't that Toho the same Godzilla production, right?

I wonder what the other bosses say, too. It's kind of like Doom 2's "John Romero" message on the last boss.

Which upscaler and video cables did you used to capture?
By that time I assume there was the Framemeister and other upcoming upscalers like the OSSC & Retrotinks came out the following years
I used the Framemeister to upscale then capture with El Gato HD Capture (the original one). The video cable was just some custom made SNES RGB scart cable I bought off ebay a long time ago.
Was played on a 1-CHIP SNES, revision 2 I believe.

Gun nac new version of snes ??
Totally different game. Although, both Space Megaforce & Gun-Nac were programmed by Compile.
*Master System game called Aleste little dude!*
@@luisreyes1963 They can be different games but if you look good both games look similar, it is like an improvement of Gun Nac for the SNES, you could even say that it is a direct sequel to the game itself, at a glance you can see many equalities between Space Megaforce with Gun Nac, The most obvious is the ship, it is similar but not the same, some attacks the ship makes are clear reference to Gun Nac when it is just beginning to take Power Up's, also the form these same appear is similar, Not to mention that another and very obvious reference to Gun Nac, is that changing item of numbers, that same that goes into account regressive from 1 to 5 only that in Space Megaforce reaches until 8, Another reference is when a level is completed and is that animation when the ship withdraws, it is the same as Zanac, another Compile game, it's pretty obvious that Compile reused things from two of his best games for the Nes
@@ExtraerLC I would consider "Space Megaforce" a spiritual sequel to "Gun Nac", which means that they are very similar in lots of ways even though the second game isn't an actual sequel;
it's kind of like how "Perfect Dark" is a spiritual sequel to "GoldenEye 007".

*Who thinks this is better than GunHed and Super Star Soldier?!? I like all 3!* ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
How did you survive the Level 1 boss's attacks? (around 6:22)
It's a safe spot, even though it looks like the boss is hitting me it's not.
@@PEG Thanks! I tried it today, it's amazing :)
Why you recorded the audio in mono? Dude wheres the stereo sound? :(
+Stammin Ruisu I dun goofed with the options! I didn't even realize the game defaulted to mono audio :(

Hey would it be alright if I used some of your footage for a video I'm working on?
Yes, but please provide a credit or link to my original video.
@@PEG thank you!
I've always wondered if this was a sequel to Gun-Nac.
Did you use a regular snes controller ???
Yes
Blazing Lazers turned up to 11.
What does the blue face do that is hidden away on the right side on the first stage?
It gives you an extra life. If you shoot it enough it will turn red and also give you an extra bomb as well.
Thanks dude
Max out two red lasers and you're safe
And now, will you try to beat the game on wild setting without bullet cancel ? I did it on tricky mode and i'm trying to do the same but on wild difficulty. I still die in area 8.
TBYVGS BOS Man that's nuts, I can't believe you did that on Tricky or even made it to area 8 without power shot on wild. What weapons are you using? I think it might be possible using Sprite (weapon #7) but that cancels bullets too so I'm not sure if you would allow it.
TBYVGS BOS Are you trying to do a no-death run without power shot or just a 1cc?
TBYVGS BOS
I agree that Area 8 and 10 are probably the hardest in the game. The Area 10 boss in particular seems impossible unless you have power shot or sprite.
este joguinho é bom de ++++++++++++++...
Rate the weapons least to greatest in your opinion. So far i really hate weapons 3, 4 , 8 and 7. 1, 2, 5, and 6 seem the best
Remembers me child memories. Oh,not me... My mother smoked it. MY MOTHER. She now plays Facebook games :(
I played this when im a 5 years old kid WOAAAOO i wanna play again!!!!!!! some Snes pc emulator?
Is that the maximum difficulty?
Yes
Here i am playing on tricky hoping i find a laser lol
weapon 3 is the best weapon in the game
I am just curious, but why are you using the power shot? Doesn't that weapon take a while to charge up?
So on the highest difficulty you can only use power and Lazer. The other weapons will get you killed instantly
Weapon 6 is the only one worth using. Bullet canceling is virtually mandatory in wild mode.
Weapon #6: Power Shot
The sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces
I have Aleste (space megaforce) Its good, however I prefer Blazing Lazers on pc engine which I assume the same team made both games. Blazing Lazers is superior for me. Though Axelay is the greatest for the Snes
Yeah Blazing Lazers (huge favorite of mine too) was developed by Compile as Gunhed who did the Aleste (Space Megaforce is Super Aleste) series. They also did The Guardian Legend.
Also Zanac :P
