Thank you doctor for this excellent presentation. I am a keloid sufferer who is looking for new ways of management. I have experienced all methods except the laser which is not available on the NHS in the UK. Combined treatments of a pressure garment, regular steriod injections, scar gel and steriod tape are the best personal care combinations, however, since lockdown the active multiple keloids I have (12+) have reached a critical phase, any bigger and some will not respond well enough to injections which are extremely painful when so many need managing and in fact my hospital doctors don't always have time to do all in one session, and sometimes I weaken and can't manage them (and the pressure garment on hot days!). I asked my doctor to take put me under anesthesia as a day op to try and catch me up, but this wasn't managed well and only a handful of scars were done because the list was busy. I am a private person, but I wanted to share this because your presentation encouraged me, however, there are many sufferers with keloids ten times my difficulties who don't receive any care at all. i excised a keloid with a scalpel, cut away all the scar tissue, and took away the inflamation with ice, and applied vaseline to the wound with a pressure bandage and it was healed within 2 days with virtually no scarring.
Excised? By yourself? How large was it? I have keloids I wish to get rid of. The injections that the dermatologist used didn't work on all of them. Just a few on my chest. Not my face.
@@espianoir6763 I no longer use the incision method, i have a more effective way of removing keloids without the risk of infection, i now use chemical peels which are alot safer.
@Cynthia Banda Cynthia Banda it was definitely a keloid,with one hand pulled up the keloid,with the other hand sliced off the keloid at the base, then ran the wound under freezing cold water, applied pressure with a washcloth, then applied a a hydrocolloid gel,and let it sit so epithelial cells from the surround tissue can migrate across the wound, and help to close the wound, next day clean the wound and re-appy until the wound is closed
My scars are from wounds that just appeared without injury and i have been with them for more than 10years.They are depressing me coz i cant wear skirts or shorts.

Easton Edwin I had surgery in 2011 and recently was bitten in the face by a dog. Dr promised me for both incidents the keloid would not come up. Well I will Never wear my back out again. @@darcellenelson3040 I've been doing it about half a year. (this is after surgery removal) One ear is 100% back to normal. The other, the keloid was stubborn and returned. I don't wear the pressure earrings as much as I should. But, I get injections once a month.
Last time I ha a wart on my hand, I used the liquid and it caused a pigment loss. About three years before that, a Dermatologist burned it off and I got a horrible raised keloid on my neck. He said all I could do is wear a Cica Care silicone sheet on my neck for six months to a year which 'might' flatten out the keloid. It worked after six months, but was so ugly, I didn't want to chance it. I wore the Cica Care sheet for a year, It worked virtually perfectly. I couldn't believe it.
@@allbeen You wear the silicone patch, cut to size, over your keloid at least twelve hours a day for six months. I chose to wear the silicone with a small, clear bandage over my keloid for a year. I wore my silicone patch 24/7. After six months, it was gone. My skin had returned to normal. I'm lucky to have really nice skin. I chose to wear the silicone patch for one year. I was afraid it might come back again. I probably didn't need to wear it beyond six months, but I was paranoid because it was less than attractive - a major understatement! I don't know how the silicone works, but it does. You can't buy Cica Care silicone patches at your local drug store. My Dermatologist told me of three different medical supply stores near my house that carried the silicone. If you haven't done it already, please get some as soon as you can. I guarantee you will be more than happy with the results.
I am really sad about my keloids on my chest it's been more than 2 years 😢... If anyone knows how to treat it properly, tell me please... My dream is to build my body but will be not good if I continue with my keloid scars, somebody help me 😢
Use Kanag cream n apply hansaplast heat plaster on dat...don allow to get wet .. Keep changing the heat plaster once in a week... Do dis for 3 to 4 months n am sure dey ll get cured.. My personal experience!!
Everyone in the comments just suffers from one or two keloid scars.. I have keloid skin and they’ve popped up randomly covering my entire shoulders. I’ve had no injuries they just popped up. I’ve tried injections, cutting them out, cream ect yet they won’t disappear. I can’t wear anything that shows my shoulders if I do I get asked constantly what they are, what’s wrong with me, that it’s disgusting. It’s my biggest insecurity. I’ve paid well over $800 to see specialist that have done nothing but tel me it’s keloid scars and that there’s nothing I can do as that is just the state of my skin :/ it’s my biggest insecurity and I have no idea what to do
I have a hypertrophic scar on my upper arm because of stitches scar from a surgery back in 2013. I used to hate that but now i see it as a little cool,, you know, like some pirate scar, forming like a fish bone shape~ if some of my students in elementary school accidentally see it and asked me, i tell them: i used to be a pirate and fight sharks! I have a totally awesome scar from my motorcycle accident. It’s a straight line right under my left eye and is about an inch and a half long, I have another one ( same incident) on my left neck and it’s toward the side . It was REALLY CLOSE TO MY JUGGULAR and The doctor said a couple more millimeters and I would’ve bled to death 💀 I think my sscarsdevelop character if there own and are a part of me. My keloid went away after 9 years sometime in Nov-Dec 2018. And no one knows why but unfortunately I was in coma for several months & when I woke up the keloid was gone from my chest. All I can think of is that I lost a lot of weight while in a coma & was fed thru a feeding tube. So maybe diet? But now I have a tracheostomy scar on my neck. I would trade that for the keloid any day, maybe it will go away too.
Based on the video, it sounds like the treatment option for keloids ends up being surgery, or lasers and then followed by steroid injections. Don't bother with these products they don't work, I've used silicone gels for over 7 years & not a single improvement in size or texture, they are a waste time & money. I have one big Keloid on mid of the chest that does pain always. Three Keloids on the right shoulder and two Keloids are on the left shoulder. One new Keloid is growing up on upper part of the chest.And one very tiny Keloid is coming on the stomach. Don’t know what type of keloids you guys have, but I’ve gotten keloids on the back of my neck from ingrown hairs things I’ve learned that may help you that I learned from experience. 1. I know it does not matter if you have short hair I went to barbershop, and asked for a bald fade DO NOT LET HIM CUT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM I had short hair, and you wouldn’t have known I had curly hair, but I grew out my hair to hide my neck keloids. 2. You can not pop it there is no puss, and if your hands are greasy/dirty it will only make the keloids grow. 3. Keloids will also grow if you scratch/irritate them. it may if you can’t handle the itch there is products you can use to stop the itch. 4. Before all of this when I first found out I had keloids I tried using the razor bumps bottle thing, but it never went away. Ways to make them smaller haven’t really removed them yet, but they were very infected to the point where I couldn’t lay down on my back, and these are only tests that I’ve tried. 1. Don’t touch them, and clean them when you dry your keloid infected area tap don’t squish it only makes it bleed. 2. I didn’t know why I did this, but I used this on my acne, but I put toothpaste on my keloid infected area got in the shower don’t wash it off straight away this how you can tell if your bleeding, or it’s not clean the toothpaste will have this tingly feeling you will notice immediately if you feel it leave it on until the end of the shower. 3. Everybody my keloid went away! I don't know why. The bad news is it happened when I was in a coma for a few months. But this does mean that there is a way. I can tell that I was fed thru a feeding tube which I think was made by Nestle. And I lost about 60lbs in the coma. They noted that as malnutrition with unknown cause. There is no trace of the keloid.
I’ve heard some people having some success when fasting, since your body uses fat as energy maybe on that same process it broke down the scar tissue, maybe that happened with you, did they feed you often?
@@Kevin-gq2kj I remember that they turned on the feeding once a day for several hours and then shut if again. I remember calculating it on my phone and told that wasn't enough but didn't change it. I did lose a lot of muscle mass & I'm still trying to get that back. They put honey on the scars from stint and those are pretty scared, they still have a tiny bit of scabs.
@@dr.balanightstalker5018 Absolutely it's gone, I hated it. One day my daughter was visiting me in the hospital and she noticed it was gone. I do know they put honey on the new scars but those are still there. I saw some before and after videos here on UA-cam that looked pretty good.

have a couple of fairly small (although very red) 13 year old keloids on the middle of my chest. I got a treatment plan for 4 rounds of injections and laser. After two treatments and 900 dollars later the results were not even close to what I was hoping for.. so I canceled the rest of the treatment. It flattened them a fair amount, although just a few months later it feels like they are already puffing back up a little. The treatment did lighten the redness a fair amount as well but that also quickly started coming back. Don't waste your money unless you have disposable income. I'm posting this on as many keloid videos as I can to spare people from wasting there money like I did. Unfortunately they call them scars for a reason.

@@bg23allday1 Some disappeared completely after the first treatment, some hasn't after several shots. Justbe consistent with it. The shots definitely flattens them. I got laser treatment on the ones on my chest and it made it worse. I've seen keloid scars get even bigger with surgery.

I have a scar from an idiot ER doctor putting the wrong kind of stitches on my face, I never had a keloid in my life before this - I got injections from a dermatologist that did NOTHING and also mederma did NOTHING. Wouldn't grafting just cause scaring in an additional location?
My son had ear surgery and has had a shot in his ears..he wears the compression earrings every day but they are still ossing. Is that normal? Should I get him some silicon scar gel?
Thanks I took him back and they gave him a shot in his ears, he will get another one in January. He said that his ear still has stuff come out of it sometimes. But when he wears the earrings it does flatten the ear. I hope and pray that one day his ears will be normal again.

I'm from India, after surgery it started forming keloid and for the steroids injection can it be given by any doctor or needs to show only to the doctor who did surgery. I'm asking this question because it's very hard for me to get intouch with the doctor coz we're from different states.
@Yousaf Lala you need to be patient with steroids injection for a year or 2(two) years coz I have experience myself and the surface of that keloid will be flatten up.

@@mr.single273 co2 fractional lasers cost £3000, and can be purchased from China. Co2 lasers work on the 10,600nm wavelength and can be used to vaporised fibrous tissue, do your research before buying one as they can be very dangerous if used incorrectly.

keloids actually form within the dermis, so im guessing that the use of a caustic pencil would only cause the epidermis to peel, and probably wouldn't do anything for the keloid unless the keloid is close to the surface, caustic pencils were only designed to be used for skin conditions on the epidermis layer of the skin like warts,skin tags ect, you can try it on a keloid but it may only flatten the keloid. but heres what i found on google. A caustic pencil (or silver nitrate stick) is a device for applying topical medication containing silver nitrate and potassium nitrate, used to chemically cauterize skin, providing hemostasis or permanently destroying unwanted tissue such as a wart, skin tag, aphthous ulcers, or over-production of granulation tissue. a keloid is over-production of granulation tissue, so it will definitately improve the appearence of it.

i got my first keloid scar like a few years ago when i was like 10 maybe idk lol and i was at my cousins house jumping on their mini indoor trampoline that fit one person. so then we started to jump from the trampoline to the couch... and my aunts couch was broken, if u put ur hand in between the seat cushions u could feel a piece of wood like sticking up, well of course i jumped right on that spot and cut my knee sooooo deep..... it hurt so bad it felt like i had broken my knee but my aunt thought it was a normal little cut so we just but a bandaid on in. well looking back at it we thought we should’ve maybe got stitches but we aren’t for sure that would’ve prevented the keloid to form..... now i have another smaller one on my other knee from a regular fall on the sidewalk.... will a keloid for every time i cut myself badly??

I think I have a hypertrophic scar under my penis but idk like its raised and I don't remember ever injuring it so idk if I had a operation when I was a baby or something, or is the raised part that I think is a scar just part of the penis? cause I really don't know
whether your recieve a scar after a wound all depends on age, lifestyle, ethnicity aswell as enviromental factors, and how well the wound was treated after injury. white people tend to heal better than all other races.
I had a keloid after heart surgery 9 years. Then worst thing happened, I collapsed at the gym and needed surgery again! I ended up in a coma for several months, maybe 3 or 4 months. When I finally was fully awake, my daughter noticed my keloid was gone! Not removed, just disappeared while in a coma along with about 50lbs of weight. They can't explain it or the weight loss but know for sure that it can go away. I don't know how but trust me it can. By the way I had 7-9 strokes during surgery and have regained almost all my left side. Walk normal and sometimes jog. I have been told that strokes leave scars so I'm researching scars.

Get them injected with 40mg kenalog/kenacort. It really does reduce them

Everyone in the comments just suffers from one or two keloid scars.. I have keloid skin and they’ve popped up randomly covering my entire shoulders. I’ve had no injuries they just popped up. I’ve tried injections, cutting them out, cream ect yet they won’t disappear. I can’t wear anything that shows my shoulders if I do I get asked constantly what they are, what’s wrong with me, that it’s disgusting. It’s my biggest insecurity. I’ve paid well over $800 to see specialist that have done nothing but tel me it’s keloid scars and that there’s nothing I can do as that is just the state of my skin :/ it’s my biggest insecurity and I have no idea what to do

I have a totally awesome scar from my motorcycle accident. My keloid went away after 9 years sometime in Nov-Dec 2018. And no one knows why but unfortunately I was in coma for several months & when I woke up the keloid was gone from my chest. All I can think of is that I lost a lot of weight while in a coma & was fed thru a feeding tube. So maybe diet? But now I have a tracheostomy scar on my neck. I would trade that for the keloid any day, maybe it will go away too.

I have one big Keloid on mid of the chest that does pain always. Three Keloids on the right shoulder and two Keloids are on the left shoulder. Don’t know what type of keloids you guys have, but I’ve gotten keloids on the back of my neck from ingrown hairs things I’ve learned that may help you that I learned from experience.
1. I know it does not matter if you have short hair I went to barbershop, and asked for a bald fade DO NOT LET HIM CUT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM I had short hair, and you wouldn’t have known I had curly hair, but I grew out my hair to hide my neck keloids.
2. You can not pop it there is no puss, and if your hands are greasy/dirty it will only make the keloids grow.
3. Keloids will also grow if you scratch/irritate them. it may if you can’t handle the itch there is products you can use to stop the itch.
4. Before all of this when I first found out I had keloids I tried using the razor bumps bottle thing, but it never went away.
Ways to make them smaller haven’t really removed them yet, but they were very infected to the point where I couldn’t lay down on my back, and these are only tests that I’ve tried.
1. Don’t touch them, and clean them when you dry your keloid infected area tap don’t squish it only makes it bleed.
2. I didn’t know why I did this, but I used this on my acne, but I put toothpaste on my keloid infected area got in the shower don’t wash it off straight away this how you can tell if your bleeding, or it’s not clean the toothpaste will have this tingly feeling you will notice immediately if you feel it leave it on until the end of the shower.
3. This isn’t a remedy, but a mentality healing mindset you have to realize it most likely won’t go away, and not be ashamed of it.

Everybody my keloid went away! I don't know why. The bad news is it happened when I was in a coma for a few months. But this does mean that there is a way. I can tell that I was fed thru a feeding tube which I think was made by Nestle. And I lost about 60lbs in the coma. They noted that as malnutrition with unknown cause. There is no trace of the keloid.

@@Kevin-gq2kj I remember that they turned on the feeding once a day for several hours and then shut if again. I remember calculating it on my phone and told that wasn't enough but didn't change it. I did lose a lot of muscle mass & I'm still trying to get that back. They put honey on the scars from stint and those are pretty scared, they still have a tiny bit of scabs.

have a couple of fairly small (although very red) 13 year old keloids on the middle of my chest. I got a treatment plan for 4 rounds of injections and laser. After two treatments and 900 dollars later the results were not even close to what I was hoping for.. so I canceled the rest of the treatment. It flattened them a fair amount, although just a few months later it feels like they are already puffing back up a little. The treatment did lighten the redness a fair amount as well but that also quickly started coming back. Don't waste your money unless you have disposable income. I'm posting this on as many keloid videos as I can to spare people from wasting there money like I did. Unfortunately they call them scars for a reason.

Thanks I took him back and they gave him a shot in his ears, he will get another one in January. He said that his ear still has stuff come out of it sometimes. But when he wears the earrings it does flatten the ear. I hope and pray that one day his ears will be normal again.

keloids actually form within the dermis, so im guessing that the use of a caustic pencil would only cause the epidermis to peel, and probably wouldn't do anything for the keloid unless the keloid is close to the surface, caustic pencils were only designed to be used for skin conditions on the epidermis layer of the skin like warts,skin tags ect, you can try it on a keloid but it may only flatten the keloid. but heres what i found on google.
A caustic pencil (or silver nitrate stick) is a device for applying topical medication containing silver nitrate and potassium nitrate, used to chemically cauterize skin, providing hemostasis or permanently destroying unwanted tissue such as a wart, skin tag, aphthous ulcers, or over-production of granulation tissue.
a keloid is over-production of granulation tissue, so it will definitately improve the appearence of it.

i got my first keloid scar like a few years ago when i was like 10 maybe idk lol and i was at my cousins house jumping on their mini indoor trampoline that fit one person. so then we started to jump from the trampoline to the couch... and my aunts couch was broken, if u put ur hand in between the seat cushions u could feel a piece of wood like sticking up, well of course i jumped right on that spot and cut my knee sooooo deep..... it hurt so bad it felt like i had broken my knee but my aunt thought it was a normal little cut so we just but a bandaid on in. well looking back at it we thought we should’ve maybe got stitches but we aren’t for sure that would’ve prevented the keloid to form..... now i have another smaller one on my other knee from a regular fall on the sidewalk.... will a keloid for every time i cut myself badly??

I had a keloid after heart surgery 9 years. Then worst thing happened, I collapsed at the gym and needed surgery again! I ended up in a coma for several months, maybe 3 or 4 months. When I finally was fully awake, my daughter noticed my keloid was gone! Not removed, just disappeared while in a coma along with about 50lbs of weight. They can't explain it or the weight loss but know for sure that it can go away. I don't know how but trust me it can. By the way I had 7-9 strokes during surgery and have regained almost all my left side. Walk normal and sometimes jog. I have been told that strokes leave scars so I'm researching scars.
