Thanks Jeff, another bonus tip is the "Layers" tab of the attributes pane will allow you to select a layer/table and populate the tree with all the features/rows in tha layer/table. If you have the attributes table open with filtering (say by view extent) or sorting by a field, the filtering & order in the attributes table and pane are synchronized. Also you should be able to reorder attributes in the table (dragging) and the order will update to match in the attributes pane (without stopping your edit session).
Great tips! I have never gone beyond the selection tab. Sounds like I need to do a follow up video. I had no clue about dragging the fields in the attribute table! Thanks for taking the time to comment with such helpful information. I’ll be pinning this comment.
There’s even more than what I was able to show in this video. I plan to cover the rest in the future so make sure you’re subscribed with notifications! Thanks for taking the time to comment, it means a lot to me.
I learned this a couple of weeks ago on the job. I felt so stupid when I realized I was wasting so much time on the attributes table lol. Thanks for sharing!
Once again great information and presentation! I was not fully aware of all the features you presented, so it was very helpful for me. Thanks for sharing and making this content keep them coming!!!
You need to start leaving funny comments on John's videos so he remembers you that way. And thanks for this video. There's always so much to learn, even with every day tools :)
Wow! I thought this could be a great tip. But... I'm working in ArcMap Desktop. And I primarily work In Network Analyst Routes which do not seem to be Editable.
There is an attributes window in ArcMap too. desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/manage-data/editing-attributes/editing-attributes-in-the-attributes-window.htm I have never needed to edit network routes, just the underlying network data. But the ArcMap attributes window still allows mass edits by selecting multiple features in the tree or all features by selecting the layer name in the tree.
Hi Jeff. Do you have a video on how to change a Layer Type from Text (5) to Double? I am not able to add a join table since the Types are different. Thanks!
I don’t, but I can describe the steps. I’m assuming you mean convert a text field to a double field? First step would be to add a field of type double. Then right click the new field’s heading and choose Calculate field. Below Expression in that tool double click your text field in the fields list on the left. That should put your field name enclosed by exclamation marks in the box below. Then click Okay. The tool will do the conversion for you.
@janetjacobson9322 I’m doing interviews for research about Python and people struggling to learn, whether that’s because they are intimidated, or don’t have the time, whatever the case is. Would you be able to hop on a quick Zoom call to talk about your journey and struggles? Here’s a link to my schedule - calendly.com/gischops/gis-research-interview
Como estas Jeff? Yo también lo utilizo hace mucho tiempo, especialmente cuando quiero seleccionar varias entidades e introducirles un atributo en comun. Greetings from Uruguay!
Have been using this since I moved to pro. Attribute table is buggy - it is irrationally slow and often looses edits, useful only for going in the field view or using field calculator

Oh shoot! Well, I do now!
Ha ha. Tagging works!
BTW, I really enjoyed the map wizardry session this year.
@@GISChops thanks Jeff! and i had no idea the attributes pane existed!
But you know the symbology pane inside and out!
Thank you again for taking a common thing in ArcPro and explaining how to use it more proficiently!
Thanks for such a kind comment!
I appreciate the thorough exploration of this one tool! I thought I knew everything about it but this showed me some new things.

Thanks Jeff, another great video! It was truly mind blowing to learn the bulk update functionality at the UC!
It was mind blowing meeting you in that session!
Attribute Pane is the best. Great bonus tip, I didn't know about that one!

Thank you so much! It worked! Thank you for the help.
I knew about the tool from adding attachments. I didn’t know editing in bulk from that table was possible.
I’m glad you learned something new!
Always helpful!! Just would like more!
Thanks! Trying to get some Python content together. How experienced would you say you are with Python?
Probably not experienced enough... @@GISChops

My very first super thanks! You have been entered in the GIS Chops Hall of Fame.

It's good to have new videos from you, I've missed them
Everybody kept yelling “Hey Chops!” Ha ha. I need to get back on a regular schedule.
