Well, thank you for that kind comment! I didn’t remember trying to be hilarious in that video, so I had to watch it again. You must have made it to the end of the video, I appreciate you sticking around that long. 😃
This was a great video. I learned some things I didn't know you could do. On a related note, while looking at some buffered roads, my coworker and I discovered that some people are using International Feet instead of U.S. Survey Feet. For our work, the difference is neglegible, but for some projects and I imagine some business needs, choosing the right unit of measure and being consistant could be a big deal. There is a difference in the two units of measure starting out at the 6th decimal point (if I remember correctly) and that will start making a large difference as distances get longer. I don't know if a lot of people realize the difference exists. Do you know if there is a way to customize the unit of measure menu so that only those that you use are available? Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
That’s a very good question, and a great idea. Check boxes that say US units only, international units only, metric units only. You should submit it and I’ll plug it.
Thank you so much for the videos, they are really great. Detailed, interesting, quick and with a nice smile on top :) ......... can't thank you enough for it.
I usually use it to select other features via the select by location tool, or I use it to clip other polygons. Thanks for taking time to write such a kind comment.
I created a polygon and applied a buffer to it. I needed to edit vertices on the polygon but the buffer did not update to the new shape. Is it possible to have the buffer update if the polygon shape changes?
I’m not aware of anything that will automatically update a buffer when the source polygon changes. Maybe you could have an attribute rule that populated a field in the buffer layer then have a script buffer them again. 🤷♂️
@@GISChops I use it on just about any dataset that I would normally set transparency to. Sometimes I will still mess around with transparency but Linear Burn is great for blending with hillshades or any basemap really. Try it out and let me know what you think!
Looking forward to learning more on Arcgis Pro in your next videos !
Thanks for watching and commenting!
OMG, not only is this information helpful, but Jeff is hilarious with his presentations. Fun!

Thanks to you I have improved quite a bit Thanks!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I do love me some buffer tool, I think the buffer wizard from ArcMap was one of the coolest tools to show people to get a lot of work done at once.
I have done a lot of buffering over the years. Thanks for all of your great comments.

Amazing video. Looking forward see your next video about relate &join.
It may not be the next, but should be soon. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I would love to see some videos on the joins and relates.
I’ll get going on them. Any particular questions you want answered?
@@GISChops I’m pretty new to using ArcGIS Pro. Creating them, when to use them etc…
Got it!
This was an amazing and helpful video! I am trying to find out what I can do with the buffer after I created it.

thanks another good video well explained.
Thank you!
Is it possible to conditionally color the buffer fill based on a separate field/ value?
I believe the buffer layer has a field that is populated with the buffer distance, so you could symbolize the layer based on that field.

Have you used the Linear Burn layer effect? I’ve been using it for over a year now and it’s become my go-to
I have not. How do you use it? Is it the blending option?

Cool! I’ll have to try that instead of transparency.
hey Jeff *thanks* for your great videos
chop us some joins!!!🔪
Roger that! Thanks for watching and commenting.
