I think influencers and their freebies have cheapened luxury, who wants to spend thousands on a bag that loads of tacky influencers have been given for free.

What’s so sad is that it is a look that is rarely made chic by the consumer. Just because you have the It bag doesn’t automatically mean you have “It”. Truly chic people are creative with their style not copy catty. Sorry but that’s the truth. Luxury is cheap looking now and guess what? Common!

Something VERY important to mention is the overall decline in quality.
Take a Chanel Classic flap from 1983 and 2023. The new one looks fake in comparison. The stitching often isn't straight, the leather got worse and they stopped using real gold - opting for gold plating. But the price is so much higher. Why?
Or LV. Their hardware is so fragile people buy special stickers to protect it from scratching. And don't get me started on their scarves.
Basically the price went up. The quality went down. Not worth the money anymore.

Thanks for speaking the truth in your short but precise video! I think quiet luxury, less is more is a very good trend. I'm now buying luxury items, only if they are of very high quality, and are timeless styles I could enjoy for many years. I've saved so much money after I started doing that.

My grandma was a very classy lady and I learned a lot from her. She taught me to look at pieces of clothing, inspect their fabrics and when to realize if they were of good quality. I think that has always stuck with me because I have never been into fast fashion. I unfortunately cannot afford luxury items, but I am for sure not interested in what everyone else is wearing even if I had the money. The LV bag was one of those. I used to love it when I first started seeing it and after everyone started wearing it (even some of my friends that I knew they were broke), I was totally put off.

This is true for anything you buy, you only have time to use so much. We are probably b TT becoming more aware that our purchases may be compensation for low self esteem. External appearances can also be demonstrations of a need to fit in a particular group. True freedom is knowing what you need and want, and using that as your self guide.

I had a long, black silk cardigan that I wore for 30 years. I recently tossed it as it had fallen apart...I could have just stitched the seam, though 30 years is fair enough. Truly wealthy people buy the best of basics in a core wardrobe, then allow the investment to pay them back.

Coach is definitely my addiction. My one vice. I never indulge in high luxury brands because I just can't fathom handing over $2,000+ cash for one bag! In Canada, the luxury prices are ridiculously expensive!! And at this point, the amount that I have spent on Coach bags is equal to an LV Speedy 25 and a pochette accessories. So, two LV bags versus many beautiful Coach bags. Take your pick! Is my collection very excessive? Absolutely! Yes, indeed!! But I enjoy having a lot of choice! And, I enjoy having a bag for every conceivable occasion! Is it time for me to stop my handbag purchasing? YES!! Will I stop? I don't know. 🤔 I definitely should stop. For now, I have 'purse peace'.... I think. Thank goodness my addiction hasn't spilled into any other area of my life! I keep my clothing for years and don't really enjoy shopping. In 2024, I endeavour to focus on a very minimal non-essential spending year and take it from there!

I think luxury brands need to realize how much they have being disrespectful to the brands and the consumer, now days there’s no quality control and sell anything por 900 usd, other brands just keep elevating the price without reason like Chanel. The perfumes omg so low quality and flankers everywhere.
And it’s getting more expensive to dress that’s for sure, even in non luxury brands like Zara, now I only buy in sale because regular prices are to high and yes, people needs to buy searching quality, that last, make the money worthwhile.

I was never a luxury chaser. I did get bitten by the coach, coach outlet and Dooney bug last year but I keep it reasonable. So I switch a purse out every 3 to 5 weeks...
But all this hoopla and fast fashion upsurge do contribute to the issues. I am pretty sure the rich don't go buying new stuff every week. Hence the reason the brands have been so dependent on Middle class spenditure. But I'm sorry those exorbitant price tags for poor quality is a big red flag. I rather get a really good puchette metis knockoff for 65 that ever pay 1800 or more.
And bootleg luxury (is what it was called when I was growing up) is nothing new it been around for a long time

The whole thing is saturated. It seems everyone has luxury goods nowadays and this idea is buoyed by seeing it on random people in social media. Luxury became cheap in this manner so the need and want will surely decline. Before, the influencers are celebs who were given free stuff. It gives brands a way better image as opposed to some influencer who had a following. Like in the video, you see that girl with a birkin and automatically i find it cheap already bec who the f is this girl?!? In this age of inclusivity, exclusivity in luxury brands is still essential and it should not be handled as if it is cheap fast fashion.

when i hear about Recession, Cost of Goods, Gas Prices etc.
I always look at the luxury market.
Too many people complain about the economy but point out how they cant afford trips or luxury goods.
these same people are not scared to be homeless or without food or have no social services available to them.
These same people may own a home and cars and yet still think things are bad.
Luxury Goods have made it easy to look rich. But in reality its just hiding the poor.
Please stop buying luxury. At least for a while.
If more people focused on actual necessities, prices for everything would be lower.
