This is how I feel rich daily: I have a nice shower or bath. I exercise daily and I’m always reading classic literature, as well as daily news stories. I have time to spend raising my children. And I brush my teeth after every meal. Those things I listed are rich living features to me.
I absolutely LOVE rich people who look so simple but you get to their house and you're like dammmmnnn!!! This has taught me to keep it simple. I no longer buy iphones and designer bags. With savings I've bought land and hopefully will start building a house soon. Wow 1.2k likes !!! Never got so many likes . Thank you guys. 🤗 Now i know i'm doing the right thing
Yes, this was our landlord when I was a kid. The man owned several appartment buildings, tour busses and a limousine renting business. But when you looked at him you could never guessed that he was a business man. The man dressed in the most simple outfits. A plain t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. And drove a simple car. Nothing flashy. But he had a very beautiful house and in his backyard he had a huge cage with an eagle inside. He was a very humble man.
Yes. I really don’t want to seem like I’m bragging or what, but when my dad met Jimmy Choo (yes, The designer) in person for the first time, it was actually at a Supermarket in Malaysia. He was all decked out in normal clothes & when he introduced who he was, my dad & him went aside & talked for hours like they were best friends or something. This happened years ago & they until this day still keep in touch. The amount of times I’ve seen Mr Choo & his fam dressed in normal clothes don’t surprise me anymore & what surprises me more is the amount of wealth he’s surrounded by a lot of the time but really couldn’t care less. He’s a very humble & generous man that truly loves his family & is willing to share knowledge to anyone that’s invested to know more about starting a business, etc.
My mom always told me to buy the cheapest house in the best neighborhood I could afford. I took her advice. It isn't fun being less well-off than our neighbors, BUT our kid still goes to the same school that their kids do. Your environment really does shape you. I don't regret our real estate choices.
Damn. There's nothing I hate more (when it comes to dressing) than being a walking billboard for ANY designer. It seems harder & harder to get away from being an advertisement for any brand.
i drive a simple car that’s paid off along with my house. i dress in designer logos but could care less what people think. at the end of the day, i work for what i want to wear.

I'm dirt poor. so poor.. that I don't care about look and stuff like that. As long as I have my own place, enough food, no debt and clean.. I'm happy like this. No point to living the hard life just to impress unimportant people who don't really care about me.
It is good that you are happy and content with what you have. And that's very important, i feel the same way. But it's also important to manifest good things (even wealth) for yourself, instead of saying that you are poor .
🤣🤣🤣that's what I just said...I was like dang she talking about everybody...Even ME ..I love Coach Bags ...now she got me rethinking the relationship 🤣🤣🤣
There are wealthy ppl who own these things too though. Imo, judging who's poor or rich based on their appearance or possessions is what's cheap in nature. The only thing I agree on is the bragging to bring others down. (though I'd like to add that sharing one's love/excitement for something is quite diff. than boasting about it in regards to their mannerisms) Otherwise, who cares what ppl choose to spend their money on, if it's what makes them happy. Being happy for others is such a simple concept. Yet, it's so hard for ppl to do.
Agree! I do this all the time and I dress very well. I find high quality (not flashy) clothes at my local high end consignment shop and I bought my Lexus used for a very modest price. I just wanted a premium Toyota that would last. Who cares if it’s second hand if something is quality!
Here's how people in different classes behave, according to Alux: -Poverty screams! -Money talks. -Wealth whispers~~~ Timeless wisdom. 👏🏽🏆🥂 Thanks, Alux.
This is not wrong. I make a lot of money (200k+ a year), plus I own 3 rental properties, and I have no problem talking and telling people about it. But I never ask people to give me money, I’m never desperate or screaming about it or doing anything annoying. I also dress modestly and my car is modest. I’m in control of my life. If anything, I’m willing to pay for friends if needed when we go places, cuz I wanna have good life experiences and I’d rather bring friends along even if they can’t afford something. I understand not everyone is gonna have the discipline, motivation, or sometimes IQ to be successful and that’s totally ok. But I’m also proud of my success and I don’t wanna feel like I have to hide it

I agree with you completely. The problem with a lot of these videos is that they don’t consider the real reason why so many are poor. It’s true that different mindsets create different outcomes, but what about systemic and structural inequalities. Tax non payment for multinational companies, nepotism etc. These videos are far too simplistic, and blame the poor for their plight. A lot of rich people also have trust funds, utilise the money, then pay taxes in what is left. Most poor people aren’t given their earnings until the state has taken its cut.

Reminds me of French author Guy De Maupassant's short story The Necklace. Faking it until making it really is the most appropriate moral lesson from that tale. Imagine, that insecure woman who lost a necklace which she thought was extremely expensive and borrowed from a wealthy schoolmate was actually made of paste after buying the replica of that jewelry and paying off the massive debt she and her husband incurred. All because of her stupid vanities.
"its better to be the poorest house in a rich neighborhood than to be the richest house in a poor one" couldnt agree more. this is exactly what my parents would say to me when i was growing up since they would buy the crappiest house in the nicest neighborhood and fix it up eventually making a few hundred grand.
If your goal is to sell it one day then definetely yes, but if you wanna live there long term then no. Living in a poorest house in rich area is almost equal to wearing an entry level brands. Ofc fixing up real estate is not for everyone since you need knowlage for that, and effects of this vary from one country to another due to differences in tax laws
We have done this so many times as well and it always works! We even bought foreclosures and fixed them up. Buy the nicest house in the best neighborhood you can afford and try not to put in more money than you can get back out of it.

I would tell her “ they have nothing to prove to anyone. Their finances speak for themselves.” They know their net worth, their self worth and don’t have to do anything to impress anyone.
This pandemic made me realize I was just comfortable but not where I want to be. I have some luxury bags that I really don't need so I've started minimalizing and selling things I don't need. I plan on using the proceeds to start a business.

I have a relative who got a nice financial windfall from selling her property. She immediately bought a new home, but spent 100's of thousands of dollars on renovating it. The original house was really cute & simple, it did need a few repairs but nothing major. She went all out on the renovations, spent 5k alone on one countertop, which was marble. She mainly fixed up the living room & kitchen, and had an apartment made in the basement. She blew all of her money on cosmetic repairs to the house, & now she's back at square one. The apartment helps, but she literally took out a loan because the cost of the renovations exceeded the money she received from the sale. So now it's like she has a mortgage again. She really, really screwed up her chance at financial freedom because she wanted to appear rich.

It's definitely better to live in a low profile house in a wealthy neighbourhood. Wealthier neighbourhoods are generally safer than the poorer neighbourhoods, but in rare cases that a group of thieves decide to rob houses in the wealthy area, they'd most likely target the larger houses, not the smaller, poor-looking houses. 😁

I notice this with some college students and some younger people. I see some college students and younger people complaining and moaning about being broke (although some are genuinely broke and sadly struggling for reasons out of their control) but they always manage to have the latest iPhone when their previous one worked perfectly, they are driving a Benz or a BMW, buying Starbucks drinks and other expensive meals everyday, buying the latest expensive brand name clothing, have a new set of nails weekly, and overall living above their means. This happened years ago & they until this day still keep in touch. The amount of times I’ve seen Mr Choo & his fam dressed in normal clothes don’t surprise me anymore & what surprises me more is the amount of wealth he’s surrounded by a lot of the time but really couldn’t care less.
Rich neighborhoods also usually pay higher taxes and you would have mostly expensive stores around your house.

Mind you living lavishly on an entry level fast food or retail salary. They often times complain about not having a reliable laptop for schooling, money for textbooks or other money for other school supplies. They will also be the first ones to turn their nose up at you for thrifting, hitting up clearance racks, using coupons, budgeting and living comfortably below your means.
Big true.
There is also another angle to this. Sometimes people feel a social pressure to look like they're doing well, just to fit in better with other people who do the same thing. It's a never-ending cycle.

I used to be a probation and parole officer before I put myself through law school (no student loans). And some of my probationer/parolee clients would live in the projects and have the newest phone model while driving BMW/Mercedes. I always have a cracked iPhone like 3 or 4 models behind the times. As I write this, I’m typing on a cracked iPhone 8 I paid cash for. Every penny I make as an attorney goes into my savings (we live off my husband’s salary modestly). But yeah, there can be a direct correlation between new devices and living in a sh1th0le.
1. Your car is more expensive than your house
2. Bragging about money
3. Rhinestones, bedazzled items, sequin dresses
4. Fake drip
5. Bad plastic surgery/ fake tans
6. Renting/ borrowing cars for dates
7. Overdressing
8. Less money inside the bag than the price of the bag
9. Impressive gates
10. Name-dropping (credibility by association)
11. Cash
12. Prioritising design over utility (rather than quality over brands)
13. Pretending entry-point brands are luxury brands (eg. Coach, Michael Kors, Tory Burch)
14. Walking-billboard for brands (wearing too much logo)
15. Fancy place in a shitty area
You know what would be better than doing all these things? Deciding to take pride in yourself and be who you want to be without overcompensating. If someone doesn’t want to date you just because you don’t have a flashy car, then that’s someone who doesn’t deserve you in the first place. Love yourself

The last thing about brutal honesty. This may not necessarily be about wealth. The person who really is very qualified or has a lot of knowledge doesnt have to jump up and down to draw attention to themselves
