- "Family” by The Rolling Stones
Composers: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards
Lyrics:
Here's father with his heart screwed on
Yes here he's got it I'm sure
'Cause he lost his life in an accident
Found his heart in the man next door
“What exactly's gonna happen”
He says with his transplant mouth
“Will my borrowed brain still compute the same
Or will my daughter stop her sleeping out?”
Here comes the girl she's got her head screwed on
But it ain't screwed on right
Her ambition is to be a prostitute
But the breaks just weren't right
What exactly's gonna happen, tell me
When her father finds out
That his virgin daughter has bordello dreams
And that he's the one she wants to try out?
Yeah
Here is ma she's living dangerously
As I said she'll try it anything twice
She thinks she can run right to the whirlpool's edge
And stop herself just in time
What exactly's gonna happen
When she finally fizzles out
And the lovers will just be sucked in too
To see what the colours of death are all about?
Here's the son yes his legs are screwed on
Yeah, they're screwed on pretty tight
But his brain is loose and it ain't no use
He's already lost the fight
What exactly's gonna happen
When he's finally realised
That he can't play his guitar like E.G. Jim
Or write St. Augustine if he tried?
And that's what happens
When a family finds out
That they've been in orbit now for a thousand years
And need a thousand more to climb out

Remarkable the Nicky Hopkins' wonderful piano
Just one more reason why the the Rolling Stones are the Greatest Rock and Roll Band!
Rolling Stones Metamorfosis 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Everything from the inflection of Jagger’s voice to the abstract lyricism, to the prominent acoustic guitar reminds me of Dylan. With how influential the guy was and still is, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was what the Stones were going for on this track.
Jagger goes much further in his lyrics than Dylan and have a more attractive singing.
@@Methilde i strongly agree to disagree on that. hypothesis there lass
this song and jaggers inflections actually feels alot more connected To Andy Warhol's Velvet Underground including the way Lou Reed sang in those early Albums. check'em out i feel like everybody will get where im coming from
@@Methilde ??
Dylan influenced everyone after him...love hin or leave him.. its a fact
Finally someone got the lyrics correct.
actually....here he's got its not sure...
I've been to many Stones concerts and do not recall them ever performing this live. Can anyone verify? This is one of the more "obscure" tunes by the Stones and absolutely one of my favorites!
how beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
THE ROLLING STONES FOREVER!
I've always loved this one as it sounds like a Between the Buttons hangover meeting Beggars Banquet. By 1968, Jagger was reaching peak form as a lyricist.
You guys always make good feel
The stones are the best, enough said facts🎉🎉
Oh man !! That Magical formula by the R STONES: TO ENCHANT OUT OF A BAD PLOT LYRIC ARTS MAKING MELODY HYBRID MELTING POT PURE ROCKING ROLL GENRE SONGS & THIS AFREUDISIASTIC LANGUID MERLIN VOCAL APPROACH BY MICK JAGGER' S CINE CABARET.LIKE PERFORMANCES 🤗🎶🎵😋👏👏👏👏👏
Well said.
The timing of this one.
The meme 😂😂
Well - That blew my mind today!! - Pretty cool tune. Thanks, I will listen to it again 4Sure!!
"That his virgin daughter has bordello dreams and he's the one she wants to try out", who except Jagger can wrote and even sing and recorded that. Great crazy, funny, vocal line here.
"Best song ever" - Dom
Incredible
Beautiful tune...🎛🎸🥁
That's how it should be carried out mick!
Thank you, ABKCOVEVO, for revealing countless hidden gems to me.
Luna Lee~Please we beg of you to perform this Under rated classic as a homage~ on your magical Gayageum~
I do like the lyrics!
Muy buena
Terrific outtake

OH yeah 1975 !!!
Recorded during the Beggars' Banquet sessions, and without Brian Jones
The Rolling Stones❤❤ 💕💕
Ah yes, family
This song is from Metamorphosis the LP that Mick Jagger never wanted to be released, but their former producer decided to make money... As a result, we have more good songs!

Who needs satisfaction when you have family
🤙💯
Perfeita!
Nice.
It has a Leonard Cohen inflection, or film noir, very obscure, very good song from beggar's banquet sessions
Dominic torretto likes this song
When it first started playing, the song didn't feel right to me. I was afraid that the Rolling Stones might of made a bad song, but then a miracle happened. I started to enjoy the song, and now it's one of my favorite Rolling Stones songs. Not as good as sympathy for the devil, but still amazing.
The Stones made the right decision to not release this song. They don’t need to be a poor man’s Dylan. They’re already The Rolling Stones.
NICKY !!!!!!! o IAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha
What a disturbing song
❤️❤️❤️😘
You can really hear the Bob Dylan influence on this one.
Reading the lyrics this looks and sounds like something Ray Davies would write. Just my observation and opinion.
More like a Jagger song.
🍺🌞🏃👍
Sure the original read "Fiji Jim".

Vamos los rollings manga de gatossss
Los Stones son ARGENTINOS
Ah yes
The Vin Diesel song
Early!
He may say Dry Out, not Try Out. Not sure
Somebody knows if Brian Jones plays in this gem?
No Jones here.
Jones RIP, did jam on Metamorphosis. I'm not sure if he played on this track though. Had the 8 track back in the day. Highly underated album imo.
Hey!.... Brian probably would have hated this song anyway.....
I didnt know that der, Dylan much Mick?
remember me asia
sounds like the stones had been listening to a lot of Bob Dylan
Not a single Fast & Furious "family" reference in the comments. I'm honestly surprised.
I found 3.
Leave it to ABKCO to screw up the lyrics lol. It’s “Fiji Jim”.
Very credible, thanks
@@Methilde The song "Fiji Jim" was officially released on Tattoo You deluxe. You're welcome.
Meh it's ok. If it was unreleased it makes sense
Sacrilegious!!!

@@KruizSmith I'm a little more fond of this one
House of the Rising Sun was (alot) better.
Get religious with states' rights.
Only the amazing grace of Jesus The Christ of The Holy Bible has been saving a miserable wretch like me.
Lest I vaunt myself before GOD saying mine own hand hath saved me.
Even Brave New World by Aldous Huxley was better, and it's not even a song.
The Vietnam War was better than this song and The Holy Bible says that war is badly educated men using obsolete weapons to fight like animals.
John Lennon and Harry Nilsson were kicked out a Smothers Brothers show for heckling, too.
Now do a song telling your bandmate that he's going to hell if he doesn't stop smoking a spiff in the morning.
@@nadeembitar5292 Jagger deflected this on "Standing in the Shadow" : The brave old world or the depth of decline.
Very Dylan. Don't like it. Just sayin.
ima be real with you all this is terrible
