  • Having a bucket list as an angler is important. Setting goals on the water is how we progress, push limits and feel accomplishment. This trip scratched a goal off the list! It's Fay's turn. We'll keep plugging in the early morning hours until she achieves her goal of popping a Jack Crevalle on the beach! Thanks for watching

    Great vid. I want a jack on the beach. I think you kept him on the beach too long which is why he didn’t make it. I like to release fish right at the surf line if I can. I try not to bring them up the soft sand part of the beach. It can rub all their protective goop off their skin.
    But MAN that was a tank!!! Did you weigh him!?
    I loved the fight you gave him. They head shake like no other. Just awesome.

    Good video, nice catch. However maybe get him back in the water quicker.

    If you do not plan on keeping the fish. The process for getting fish back in the water should look more like a formula 1 pit stop. URGENT

      I've been a catch and release trout fisherman all my life. This poor fish was basically DOA.

      @@ALSurfCastCo Thanks for the insight. I apologize for my lack of knowledge, I am a new angler and own an animal hospital. So I am sure you can understand I was a bit triggered. The humane treatment of animals is part of my day every day. I felt like the amount of time he was out of the water to be excessive. I did not notice he was half dead already. Thanks again for the insight
      - Cheers 👊🏼❤️👍🏼

      @@ZenRacingForzathese fish aren’t like humans where they can only survive without breathing oxygen for minutes, lots of fish can survive out of the water for hours. There have been invasive catfish in the bodies of water I fish that I just throw on land and then the next day when I’m there they are still thrashing around and moving while trying to get back into the water.

    Awesome video. Bummer your wife missed her fish.
    What size reel is that? I am debating between a slammer 4500 or 5500 for similar use.

    • @ALSurfCastCo
      @ALSurfCastCo  Рік тому

      Thank you sir! That is the 4500 spun up with 30# ultracast braid. It's a nice reel for walking the beach. Also the saltist mq 5000 is fantastic.

      They're such an awesome fish! When they're running the beaches they will hit just about anything.

    Awesome video. Definitely need a faster release if you want them to survive though -- 2 minutes out of water is too long for them especially after they are exhausted from the battle

    • @ALSurfCastCo
      @ALSurfCastCo  Рік тому

      50 or 80lb. Probably 80. We were battling sharks quite a bit when I caught this fish. Nothing like losing tons of tackle to shark

      J.S. to each their own. I'm a righty, cast right, reel left. Dominate arm pumping the rod, left hand cranking the reel. .but some folks prefer to "switch" it up. If it works for them, then it's all good, IMO. Cheers

      Why is it a thumbs down... I personally feel right handed and happen to land loads of fish ..be them cudas, jacks pompano etc fish in Nigeria and trust Jack's are all over...one of the best fighting fish pound for pound ....

      Perhaps you'd be happy if he held the reel facing upwards like the drunk guys that rent their reels from the pier
