In my opinion the SteeleDrivers will always be the finest platform of Chris’s entire career. It provided something special that no other ever has or ever will and I think those folks are a big part of the reason for that. Especially, Ms Tammy. Respect.
i just love this band . my son turned me on to this band . how many young kids do that in today's world at 19 years of age ? my son passed away one year later . son , you had a good ear . I stop and listen to this great band , now and then , it always reminds me of our great times we had .
Blue side of the mountain is the pinnacle of tightness, great fiddle, super tight vocals, and Chris flexing that voice. then there is where rainbows never die which touches this old guy's soul. this among so many otehr great songs
That song "Can you run?" is an incredible song. About a runaway slave trying to make it to Union lines where he will be counted as "contraband', but can join the union army. Chris is amazing.
8 year Stapleton fan here who finally dug in and checked out the Steeldrivers. Tammy's talent just blew me away! I love how they always have her mic turned up in the live performances I've watched. Stapleton's sound guy should pay attention and do the same with Morganne's mic.
I'm here because of Chris Stapleton. I would not have considered listening to bluesgrass but the man makes me want to learn more of the music he partakes in. All these people have sensational qualities! Good Stuff!
I absloutely love these guys. True american music from the soul! SteelDrivers definitely lost a step when Stapleton left. But they are still great, and should be topping the charts across the boards... A disgrace that they don't have, or get, more and better exposure...
I'd be the last one to begrudge Chris Stapleton a lick of his success. He's an incredible talent, yet to find his true greatness. But I will miss concerts like this one - he brought so much to modern bluegrass, as did Tammy Rogers. Their many recorded duos feature so much perfection. I hope Chris circles back in our shared future, after he achieves all he desires, and dabbles a little more in bluegrass. OP - thanks for posting. This is a really fine concert recording.
honestly i have never ever heard a band for the first time and have like every single song they play. please steeldrivers keep doing wht u doing. from a simple guy in East Texas
Chill....... they are amazing. I’m still here, so many years later. I keep returning. They were the beginning for me. Chris Stapleton is truly the one. Please, just Enjoy!
I started listening to The Steeldrivers years ago because I was/am a big fan of Mike Henderson and his band the Bluebloods. Mike is also a big talent as is Chris Stapleton. I hope Mike will have something major happen in his career soon. Mike was the mandolin, resophonic guitar and harmonica player in the Steeldrivers. He also wrote or cowrote most of their original songs. Of course everyone in this group is talented and I wish them all success.
I’m 51 this year and have listened to metal since I was 13. I came across these wonderful people along with Bishop Gunn recently and I feel like I’m home!🥲🥲
I have music for different occasions as well. I clean house to this or to Caravan Palace, if I am in a hurry...lol!. Caravan Palace is considered "Techno Swing".
@@jasonh.8362 Tammy Rogers on violin, mandolin by Brent Truitt, banjo Richard Bailey, bass Mike Fleming, and Kelvin Damrell vocals and guitar. Richard Bailey, Mike Fleming and Tammy Rogers were in the original group, with Chris Stapleton vocals/guitar and Mike Henderson on mandolin. Then replacing Stapleton was Gary Nichols who is now replaced by Kelvin Damrell.
Shelly Parish ha! I didn’t even know who Chris Stapleton was until last week. I figured he was just another Nashville douchbag when something about him and Justin Timberface were mentioned in the same sentence...holy shit Batman! Lol
for some reason I get goosebumps at "where rainbows never die" every. freaking. time. and I listen to Steeldrivers' music pretty often. I am a metalhead and don't really listen to country/bluegrass, but I enjoy these folks playing immensely.
Same, I like Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest. My older brother says "what's with the country music? I say "It's not country, it's bluegrass and they f'ing shred bro just listen "
Reaches into your soul and reminds you of the critical moments of choice. I play and sing along until the until I cry know Abba was with me teaching me truth.
I heard SteelDrivers before Chris Stapleton was “Chris Stapleton”. I absolutely love them. Then one day I head Stapleton and recognized his voice and was like, OH! He’s the guy that was Steel Drivers.
I told all of my friends about Steel Drivers, 4 years ago and nobody listened, now that he broke into country and is doing great, everybody thinks he's a "New Artist" lol. HELLO ?
I remember seeing this for the first time when it just came out on cable TV. I heard Chris Stapleton's voice and lyrics and said to myself "holy shit who's this guy?" Been a fan of his and Hippie Jack ever since.
Check out the dead south live in Boston. Also mandolin orange governors mansion. Finally the best piece are the transatlantic sessions with Ron block. My favorites on that are the boy who wouldn’t hoe corn Dan tyminski and Sarah jarosz Annabelle lee
It is Bluegrass! It has evolved over the years. 1st Bill Monroe and Stanley Bro's, Flatt and Scruggs took it to a different level and Ralph Stanley had to roll without his brother. Then the Osbourne Brothers came along with others. It's still Bluegrass, it just evolved like every other kind of music. (Forgive me, i know i missed alot of good bands-but you get the gist)
My Dad used to drive us through the little town of Sophia, WV with the windows rolled down blasting bluegrass. I used to slide down in the seat from embarrassment. I was into Motown. Now I love blue grass.
The folks that gave this are sadly mistaken. This is music and performance that can travel both time and genre. And I'm saying this in 2018 as a 36yr old man.
When these guys had Chris Stapleton's guitar and voice in the mix, their sound was never better. To call his voice unique is a very weak effort to classify it - it's in a class all its own. These people are tight, unbelievably tight - their vocal harmonies in particular are like swallows in flight. My hat's off to the engineers that recorded and mixed this down to what we're hearing here - just a gorgeous mix. I think that Tammy Rogers fiddle work is exceptional. She's doing some things in there that make her parts fit exquisitely while putting some special sauce on that particular song. When you are lucky enough to get musicianship across the board that's this top shelf and they are playing with that fire in the belly... w-o-w.
Check out Allison Krauss and union station “live” album and Dan tyminski boy who wouldn’t hoe corn (transatlantic seasons) as they are perfection. The dead south live in Boston is a near perfect set. Also mandolin orange governors mansion is a must.

Aint wrong. His mainstream stuff is killer. But this is peak music for him.

I will forever love the Steeldrivers even without Chris. And I will forever love Chris even without the Steeldrivers ❤

That's the sign of true talent....when you sound as good or better live than on a recording!

Congratulations to Chris ...he's earned it.
95% of what I listen to is super heavy metal but good music is good music and this is my 'out in the garage doin stuff' goto. awesome.
Cool man !
I’ve always been into heavy rock and metal, but I also love this! 🤘🏻

Chris Stapleton is the best. Whatever kind of music he plays. I could listen to him day and night
the finger of GOD touched this guys voice,,,, in 62 years i think he may have the most soulful voice of any artist i have heard.
Tammy -my all-time favorite fiddler.
