I think one of the best parts of this games story is purely just how believable Asura’s anger is. The first and foremost reason he’s so unbelievably wrathful is because of how much he loved his family. And serious props to Liam O’Brien for being able to go from unstoppable rage god to loving father and husband.

Yeah, another character he voices really well is Yasuo from League of Legends. Yasuo is a guy who ends up accidently killing his big brother after his brother hunted him down for killing their master (Yasuo wasn't the one who killed him), so usually when Yasuo talks you can hear he is very depressed because he'll be always seen as the traitor who killed his master and his brother. I think Yasuo is the closest thing we have to a modern Asura (although Yasuo isn't as angry as Asura is).
Oh and Blade should be in too since he's half human half vampire that uses swords and guns to kill his own kind while wearing a coat. Im pretty sure you know who im referencing at this point.

What I'm more or less certain of is that there was supposed to be a sequel, and the base game ending for this game was meant to be the sequel hook. The sequel was never greenlit, so the best case scenario is that CC2 took the sequel ideas, trimmed the SHIT out of it, and made it DLC (which is cool because it's genuinely the best part of the game) so that we'd see the end of Asura's story. I loved the game, but it's really unfair that you have to pay for the ending regardless of whether it's a preview of future games. I remember they did the exact same thing to Dead Space 3.
The 360 has had games that were split between discs if I'm not mistake so they could have had a 2 disc game for the 360 version if that were the case, while the PS3 disc, being able to just hold more data, would only need one. I'd go with Capcom just splitting the game to get more money.
The deities: *literally kills his wife and kidnaps his daughter all on lies just to use his daughter while basically becoming the thing they wanted to destroy and getting him killed just to not ask him to have his daughter be a power source* Asura: *comes back from the dead with every right wanting everyone dead cuz they let that slide* Yashua: you know you didn't need to come back😜😜😒😒💅💅🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

Actually Blind Master + Hard Mode is much harder than just Hard Alone, so you know Max. It takes away the button prompts so you gotta memorize the controls and rely on your own timing / muscle memory.
1:48:21 yeah, I mean, I love this game but man it would be so rad if it had deeper gameplay rather than the passable stuff we got. If you watch the original trailers for the game though, you can see that there used to be some kick ass stuff they had planned. In the end though, they went all out on the spectacle of the cutscenes and I honestly can’t tell which I would prefer.
If they hadn't canned this series, they could've expanded on gameplay on future sequels. The gameplay is passable, but could really shine if someone like the DMC or Monster Hunter divisions could work on the combat.
The theme that was used during the Asura vs. Augus fight is epic. It's so epic that it was used in other forms of media. Like the final moments during the Luffy vs. Crocodile, Round 3 fight.
That capsule crush scene, this game HAS to be inspired by the DBZ Broly movie. If only every game ran as well as this does on RPCS3. 1:57:23 I love how, canonically, the remaining deities see an armless Asura kill one of the strongest among them with a single attack, after being beaten to the point of barely standing, then walking off and doing all this insane shit, and are just like "Yeah, I can take him down, no problem"
I remember playing that song from the fight with Augus in an orchestra a long time ago, before the game came out. I was seriously hyped when I got to that fight 😂
I think Max should revisit Capcom classic games (third-person shooters, ARPGs, actions, etc) and do walkthroughs like the Legacy series. I wanna see him re-play God Hand/Lost Planet/Remember Me/etc. but on harder difficulty. 😂
From watching Max's gameplay in part 1 and 2 of this playthrough so far... the ranged attack that not look worth using in any situation outside of the run and gun segments. It barely puts a dent in the burst meter and it seems like Max is constantly fighting the game whether he tries to shoot at things (where the firing mode is overriding the lock on even though you can shoot while locked on... leading to Max randomly stopping all movement and shooting in the nothingness).
The ranged attack is actually to build the Rage meter, not the Burst meter. Releasing the Rage meter makes Asura's attacks stronger for a limited time and he can use strong attacks without cooldowns.
@@Shindenize Still doesn't change the fact that the fire mode is constantly fighting with the lock on feature despite the two systems being designed to work in tandem. I counted dozens of times in just this video alone where Max got hit or failed a QTE because he shifted into firing mode while trying to shoot while moving around.
Back on Xbox 360, you could play music over the games. If you timed Tears Don't Fall right as Asura sees the girl and her son after the bombing, it matches perfectly with the rest of the scene
Some of the comments say that there was a sequel planned, but it never got greenlit. Partly due to poor sales of the game at the time of its release. So, CC2 cut the shit out of their sequel plans and made it DLC.
I always wanted to play this game, but now that I'm watching it this is actually better with the way it is laid out, as an anime with some minor gameplay elements.

The 360 has had games that were split between discs if I'm not mistake so they could have had a 2 disc game for the 360 version if that were the case, while the PS3 disc, being able to just hold more data, would only need one. I'd go with Capcom just splitting the game to get more money.
"the spider is a metaphysical representation"
yea
you could say that
I love how non-chalantly they tell us: "Hey by the way Augus is BLIND" as if he wasn't cool enough already
The deities: *literally kills his wife and kidnaps his daughter all on lies just to use his daughter while basically becoming the thing they wanted to destroy and getting him killed just to not ask him to have his daughter be a power source*
Asura: *comes back from the dead with every right wanting everyone dead cuz they let that slide*
Yashua: you know you didn't need to come back😜😜😒😒💅💅🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Holy Guacamole! I never noticed Sagat in the background fighting behind a resting Buddha 🤣
And Augus is amazing 😍
I absolutely love the classical music used in the Augus fight.
"....Why did I stand up???"
Oooooh max, if only you remembered that Asura was nude
Game was just a gem man. Wayyyy ahead of it’s time. Love the music.
I bought this game on a whim when it first dropped because the premise sounded cool. Boy was that one of the best whims I've ever acted on.
man, i have played this game first time in 2017, and it was great, also hype as hell, astonishing cutscenes too, i absolutely loved asura's wrath, such a legendary game for a 10 year old game on a ps3 console.. sad that this game didn't get a remaster, or a remastered port on ps5 at least...😔👌
I know right! Wow 10yrs that this game is old
This game was such a scummy capcom moment, I remember waiting forever for a complete edition or something when I heard the ending was DLC, maybe someday we get a complete remaster
Switch and Xbox even though I don't like Xbox everyone deserves to try this game at least once
@@publiohernandez5792 its on the switch?
"The world has become a boring plate"... ah, i remember how mush i laughted back in the days when i've heard that
It's been a while but the game is so insane I never understood why they didn't revamp or remake this game one hell of a ride
I don’t think it sold well. And Capcom kept copyright striking channels uploading play throughs.
@@frenchfriedbagel7035 OH Shit
I love seeing max be a dad its really cute and wholesome. Ripely is such a cute baby
still to this day, one of the best ways to play a movie
What an interpretation for Hiroki Yasumoto, that screams of umbearable pain, is absolutely awesome, i got goosebumps only listening to it, i feel tha pain and suffering of the asura
Okay props to whoever did the thumbnail for this video! It’s absolutely amazing
"I don't fight for good, I don't fight for evil. I just FIIGHT!"
1:18:17
In all my life seeing this game from other gamers I have never seen this before 😂
2:18:36 Max was really confident that FF7 Remake pt2 is gonna called Rebirth 🤯
"anime Asian demi-god Jax kills literally everything the game"
Pretty much
Actually Blind Master + Hard Mode is much harder than just Hard Alone, so you know Max. It takes away the button prompts so you gotta memorize the controls and rely on your own timing / muscle memory.
Having that option for no HUD with the blind master modifier is so good for this game. Adds even more to the cinematic nature
It is what it is and what we got was asuras wrath
How is Max's child so adorable?
The theme that was used during the Asura vs. Augus fight is epic. It's so epic that it was used in other forms of media. Like the final moments during the Luffy vs. Crocodile, Round 3 fight.
Antonin Dvorjak's "New World Symphony"
After playing asuras wrath more than 5 times ive realized Augus is just Yujiro hanma. And that augus boss fight is iconic
Seven traitors: "We've been collecting souls for 12 thousand years to gain strength"
Asura: *mad*
That capsule crush scene, this game HAS to be inspired by the DBZ Broly movie. If only every game ran as well as this does on RPCS3. I can surprisingly play this at 1080p@60fps on my i7 6700HQ with 16gb of ram and a 6gb GTX 1060. I said the button mash sequences were twice as hard at 60fps on the first episode.
Where did u download this version at? I need that 60fps
Where did u download this version at? I need that 60fps
@@DangerCity7 check gnarly repacks, it comes with everything you need, you just gotta change the resolution scale threshold to 512x512, set vblank frequency to 60hz and you're set to emulate this game on 60fps
I miss this game so much, haven’t played this since the Xbox 360 and ps3 days in 2012 and seeing it looking this good makes me want a remaster.
Max out here to body the planet what is next Max is gonna body the multiverse
Dude! You made me think of playing this game again! I'm glad you getting a kick out of it
Every single aspect of that part at the end of this video is incredible. It’s literally one of my favorite moments in video game history. The music, the anger, PERFECTION
One of the best Capcom games of all time
28:15 You are absolutely right here Max.
Yo, that scream on the End.. U can feel the anger, the pain, suffer, fucking *Emotional Damage* , my dude I almosty cry, awesome voice actor Geez.
I think the girl represents the idea of reincarnation and how asura's family and fate is "reinvented" throughout time.
Max is soon learning the meaning of rage
I wonder if Max can relate to Asura now that he’s a father
Just from watching this playthough I want a remaster or reboot of this game! It’s so damn sick
45:45- Asura's face: "Oh, a little girl with big anger? I like her."
1:57:23 I love how, canonically, the remaining deities see an armless Asura kill one of the strongest among them with a single attack, after being beaten to the point of barely standing, then walking off and doing all this insane shit, and are just like "Yeah, I can take him down, no problem"
“He died as he lived...pissing me off.”
I remember playing that song from the fight with Augus in an orchestra a long time ago, before the game came out. I was seriously hyped when I got to that fight 😂
The last part with him screaming will always bring me to tears because I can hear only despair in those screams.
I think Max should revisit Capcom classic games (third-person shooters, ARPGs, actions, etc) and do walkthroughs like the Legacy series. I wanna see him re-play God Hand/Lost Planet/Remember Me/etc. but on harder difficulty. 😂
I can see the first 2, but I don’t think he ever played the last one.
Ranged attacks ALWAYS suck in Japanese action games.
@@frenchfriedbagel7035 True, though I'd argue Nero's blue rose and Vergil's summon swords are pretty good.
At least you get to hear that great Dvorak piece every time Augus kills you.
Liam O'Brien's screams of sorrow and anger combined with Furueru Kokoro in the background never fails to send chills up my spine
you'd be surprised at how much Hindu folklore/history is like a sci fi story
Liam with the unyielding pipes. They die but he gets STRONGER.
Max with the gameplay and KILLER Father Instinct.
Back on Xbox 360, you could play music over the games. If you timed Tears Don't Fall right as Asura sees the girl and her son after the bombing, it matches perfectly with the rest of the scene
This game deserves more light 💡
A sequel for start and Asura needs to make it to Fighting games as a guest dlc character.
Some of the comments say that there was a sequel planned, but it never got greenlit. Partly due to poor sales of the game at the time of its release. So, CC2 cut the shit out of their sequel plans and made it DLC.
I remember when this game first got released I used to watch videos on demand on cable about it
"Asura's Wrath is the best Capcom-produced anime on the Xbox 360"
53:50 Aw, Ripley is so adorable! You got the dad genes now, Max. Shine on, my dude.
somebody with real vision, could really turn this into an insane 4th wall breaking anime.
I always wanted to play this game, but now that I'm watching it this is actually better with the way it is laid out, as an anime with some minor gameplay elements.
Every time I hear Yasha I'm simultaneously hearing the Medic from TF2 doing the same shit. Too bad this never released on PC, cause that could have easily been modded in.
Robin Atkinnis such a good VA I simutaniously hear Travis and Medic everytime he talks
max NEEDS to stream this game with the sub sound being simons screaming AAAAAANIMEEEEEE
The best thing is, some ppl discover the game after 10 years and love it.
The title brings back some childhood memories from Boss Rage for me, thank you max
"I am Akuma, and I shall teach you the meaning of pain!"
"Teach me the meaning of pain? I'M GOING TO BODY THE PLANET LETS GO!"
*"YAS"*
New world symphony hits so hard during the moon fight, perfect choice of a song
2 Asura videos in a week? Oh Max you spoil us. Been waiting years for this.
CLASSIC OMFG I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WE NEED ANOTHER ONE FOR THE PS5!!!!!
Asura needs to be in a DEATH BATTLE, but against who?
Maybe Ryu from Streat Fighter?
@ Inu Yasha's comment, the HULK is a good choice!!
Broly, Kratos or atrocitus
Cant wait for the next episode this is soooo good
10 years later and still the angriest game ever made.
