My figure! I used to be tall and slim. Now, post menopause, I'm tall and "husky" with a thick middle and slim legs. It makes me sad to always have to buy loose tops that skim over my tummy.
I appreciated your comments about change being constant. As we age it is very true that we have to adjust to keep stylish and try new things. I realize that'sway why I have to update from time to time because things no longer suit me or no longer deliver that spark. Very informative video.
Thank you for this video. Adjusting to the changes in our body as we age --and adjusting our wardrobe accordingly--can certainly be challenging. Although I miss being able to wear stylish shoes, I've found it freeing to really focus on the colors that work best for me that I love.
I have learned lots from watching your videos on shape and proportions. I enjoy experimenting a bit. My style is a combination of smart chic with a periodic splash of boho! I do find that a lot of style advice tends to be neutrals and sort of the blazer, button downs and pants…..I do like this but have to have a signature fun piece like a pair of red booties, a funky scarf. I shop my closet lots these days and it is kind of fun.
I want to be comfortable. And I want people to see I’m comfortable in what I’m wearing. I’m one of the people who really doesn’t care what other people think of me. I wear what I want, and if they don’t like it, I don’t really care. I’m 63 and if I’m not comfortable I’m not going to feel confident. I have done the uncomfortable things before. And I’m done. My life is very casual. And I wear shorts and t shirts everywhere I go. Maybe people think I shouldn’t wear shorts at my age. I don’t care. It’s hot where I live and I’m going to be comfortable in shorts. Not miserable in jeans or pants. I have linen pants and thinner jeans. But I never reach for them. Because I don’t want to be warm, I want to be cool and comfortable.
Hi Pam! I'm 63 too and I've been watching A LOT of style videos the past few months. I'm not really a shorts person myself but I watch a lady who is. She wears such a variety of tops with her shorts from sleeveless blouses to a pullover sweater or a shirt with a blazer on a cooler day. So creative. I never would have thought of doing that! There's another channel "Shopping on Champagne"; she's in her 50s and in hot weather and while I don't think she wears shorts she wears short skirts and brightly colored tops. Her clothes are more high end/preppy than mine but I've still picked up a few ideas from her. I'm finding it kind of fun to mix and match and experiment with new combinations and colors. BTW I want to live where you live; it gets cold here! 🥶 Take care🌿💜
@@StylebySheila Or too cold! That's actually my problem. I have incorporated scarves into my personal style even in warm weather. I see all these cute outfits with short sleeves and I know they would be wasted on me because it would be under a coat🤣🤣🤣
I just thought of one other channel to share with you: "The Gingham Girl". She's in our age bracket and she wears shorts a lot. And she always mentions how hot it is in Texas and she has to keep cool.😎 Enjoy! 🌿💜
I have always worn clothing made from cotton, wool or silk. Now many clothing items are made from rayon. Am I missing out? Thank you, Sheila, I enjoy your style information.
Rayon doesn't last. I like smooth woven rayon for hot weather, but it's delicate and won't last more than a few months if you wear it frequently. It fades, falls apart, and pills. Crinkled rayon, however, is scratchy and I dislike it. I don't know why the texture is so different, but it feels like textured plastic.
Hmmm, I want to feel good & look good for myself. I’m short & pair shaped. I have a scar on every limb so I don’t like showing my neck, lower arm or shins or calves.
I think my plus-size figure is my biggest style hurdle. I want to be seen as healthy! I have been limited in my income since retirement. I am in physical therapy at the present, and once I am in better shape, I will be able to keep up an exercise routine. So for now, attending physical therapy, sitting in the Jacuzzi, walking to the store, and eating healthy will help me have better posture, and walk gracefully.
I want to look feminine, creative and professional in my job as a psychgologist. I need clothes that not only are flattering in my view, but also I have to be able to sit on a carpet "playing" = evaluating (with) a child.
What's your biggest style hurdle?
How to put items together
Boredom.

You are so welcome! I know, sometimes I forget how old I am. LOL
You have a great on- camera presence 🙂
Such good advice. I am on a journey to upgrade my look at 71. Suddenly, I am having problems finding styles that are age appropriate but well fitting.
I understand, it isn't easy to find good well-fitting clothes no matter what you age. It is possible though.

Thank you. Hmmm...maybe I'll do a video on classic styles, what to wear to look your age.
Great advise Sheila!!! I follow the style and rules. We all change thru the years. I enjoy your videos. Have a great week!!!
Yes! Thank you!
I want to be seen as well put together. I have learned so much from your videos. Thanks Sheila!
Awesome! Thank you!

You're right. It's no fun being too hot.

@@1chicgeek368 Wow! you must be really cold if it's hot outside and you wear a coat. Or, maybe you live somewhere where it's cold?
