I love high waisted wide leg pants on myself. I am very slender and long limbed even at 5ft. 2 with a small waist and I feel fabulous in them. They are modern and stylish. I also like the bow tied blouses and bought two from Lilysilk last year. I just turned 65 and take good care of myself. So, It depends on your body type and style sense whether something will work for you.
You're right, I agree, those pants would look great on you and that's wonderful. I'm happy to hear bow-tied blouses look great on you, it is a very classy style.
I don't follow trends, I try to wear what looks good on me. High waist jeans sit under my chest, lol so I stick to mid rise and I do not like those bulky shapeless jackets/ coats either. Hope the 1980's fashions comeback does not last, great video Sheila! Thank -you!
Even though there are many styes that no longer work for me, I try to look at this as an advantage. It means that as I narrow down my options to the styles that do still work for me, my shopping becomes easier and faster. I guess there are some advantages to getting older! lol
Thank you for pointing out the problems we might encounter in the new fall styles. It's so easy to love the trends so alternatives that are stylish are also appreciated. I look forward to wearing high rise pants with straight legs to elongate my lower body.
I can’t find the jabot tue blouse here in Denver. But scarves I wear with tops and Fall/Winter jackets and I gave 3 scarf books on how to tie them. It’s interesting to see these books! I have several investment scarves, Hermes, and lower priced ones in my color palette. If I donate clothing in a color, I skdo donate the accessories to go with it. I’m downsizing now and love my capsule wardrobe! But scarves, hats, suede gloves, leather handbags and leather shoes/boots I really invest in to expand the limited garments I have. Don’t need so many garments anymore because I choose to stay home more. I am adding more at home garments. A great update in new styles gir tge ciming season! Pat in Colorado
I am so happy that the jewel tones are back in fashion, they look great on me. I am not a fan of any of the stuff you mentioned. I live in Toronto, Canada and I have yet to see a woman of any age wearing neon colours Most of us gravitate towards the classic preppy style or classic French style. 80% neutral and 20% pop of colour. Today is raining and it was a perfect day to sit down and watch your video.
I totally agree! Jewel tones are great but some of the 'jewel tones' this season are very close to neon and unless they blend well with your colouring, they will be seen before you are. Just words of caution.
Love the outfits w/ the fuchsia blouse! 😍 And although I agree about blouses w/ bows, I think they can look great when offset w/ masculine details (e.g. leather blazer, military style lace up boots, tweed...).
@Sheila Alley. The pussy bow blouse is definitely a challenge. The new style trend “Dark Academia” also uses a lot of masculine/feminine contrasts. Please tell us more about this new trend and how we can use these tricks to make more interesting/modern outfits.
I think plaids can be pretty, but I don't wear them for the reasons you mentioned-too widening. Some reasons you mentioned for high rise pants, I don't wear them. I tend to lean to more classic silhouettes & choose trendy pieces sparingly.
I disagree about the bow blouses unless they are tied right up at the neck. When it's a v-neck or an opened up and relaxed a bit I think they look very elegant.
Love fanny packs but not too big! And wear to the side. Hands free!! And I am afraid that I will forget my bag!!! Did you mention cargo or pleated pants. Now they are a serious no-no.
Great video! Love that fuchsia blouse. I made the mistake when graphic tees came back in style to get colored printed shirt. It was so cute and the store but when I put it on at home it looked ridiculous like I was trying hard to look younger LOL needless to say I'm now avoiding that trend
I don’t like wide leg pants. They swallow me and make me look bigger than I am. I found two fanny packs we had back in the 90’s. I haven’t tried to use one yet. But I still have them. I like the blouses with bows. But I don’t own one. I would look old in it. I have learned a lot by watching your videos. I have some bright colored shirts. Next time I put one on. I’m going to look at myself and see if I can really carry it off. I might still wear it, because I’ll be too lazy to change. But I might not wear it again. My closet is getting less crowded with the things I have been taken out. That I know I can’t carry off.
Do you follow fashion trends? Which one will you be wearing this fall?

Same. I also think they can look great on petite (or shorter legged) women when the length almost covers the heel.
Hi Sheila. Thanks for your interesting video. All your clothes are fantastic on you.
Thank you so much!
Another great video. Keep em coming.
Thanks, will do!

I agree, the '80's styles are best left in the '80's.
Even though there are many styes that no longer work for me, I try to look at this as an advantage. It means that as I narrow down my options to the styles that do still work for me, my shopping becomes easier and faster. I guess there are some advantages to getting older! lol
Yes, there are some advantages.
Roberta…my gosh! You make good fashion sense!
Thank you!

Mid rise slim & boot cut jeans for me 👍

They are very classy and elegant. Like everything they don't look great on everyone but wearing them open is a wonderful alternative.
Love fanny packs but not too big! And wear to the side. Hands free!! And I am afraid that I will forget my bag!!! Did you mention cargo or pleated pants. Now they are a serious no-no.
No, I didn't mention them.
I like high rises!
That's great.
Hi I love what u do
Great video! Love that fuchsia blouse. I made the mistake when graphic tees came back in style to get colored printed shirt. It was so cute and the store but when I put it on at home it looked ridiculous like I was trying hard to look younger LOL needless to say I'm now avoiding that trend
You're right, you have to make some mistakes to figure out what looks great on you and what doesn't.
@@StylebySheila thanks! Have a blessed Labor Day weekend
U can wear hi rise pants with top that u half tuck so some of rear is covered. No to fanny packs! Ugh
They look great on some behinds but if a half tuck might work.

That's wonderful Pam, looking great is about finding styles that look great on you. We're all different.
Brighter than you are😂😅
