I think I’ve seen that a lot of people have gotten used to a lot of distortion in the high end, so when it’s gone, you miss it. It creates artificial detail (breathy vocals, etc), but isn’t in a live performance, usually. This is a headphone I’ve sampled, and I have to contrast it with, say, HiFiMan house sound, which is so extra in the treble to create that forced detail. It’s why in some chains, you get that wild chalky sound in the upper mids and treble with HiFiMans
Dan Clark Audio headphones do an amazing job of being comfortable, feeling high quality and looking great. I look forward to seeing what they’re able to create next.

I agree that we should have a connecter standard. Personally I would prefer Hifiman style 3.5mm jacks over anything else. LCD and ZMF mini xlr is second best option.
Timestamps would be good, I struggle to find comparisons with Caldera and others

Nice review btw even though I have different opinion especially with regards to detail.
I was able to demo expanse, lcd 5, susvara, elite and caldera side by side at headphone store and ended up buying the Expanse.
Susvara and the LCD 5 just give a better perception of detail for me as they were highlighting some frequencies which made them more impressive at first listen.
But if I listen more closely, Expanse is actually giving those detail but sounds more balanced so you did not get that wow factor.
To my ears also, Expanse has more detail than elite and calderas.

Looking forward to your opinion on the Yamaha 5000SE! On a side note, what would you pick between the Yamaha YH-5000SE, the D8000 pro or the Calderas for metal music exclusively?

Caldera is an awesome alrounder .
Utopia would be better for metal .
Yamaha has an interesting sound signature but they are overpriced
D8000 pro is very nice like caldera but the caldera has still the edge over the d8k pro
@@x32i77what gear did you use for the Yamaha? My experience is not like that at all, i didn't feel it performed any less than other totl around the same price. In fact, to me they are the most resolving from what I've heard
13.09.2022 this headphone has been introduced . So it took over 10 months to get here , crazy long time
Would be cool if you would simply buy the stuff from the shop and send it back after 14-30 days . I know its a bad style but waiting so long is crazy
The problem was with ME! I moved and had to set up a new studio before shooting the review. And I had other headphones to get done first, because they were on loan. Everyone knows I do a show. They won’t accept returns from me- nor should they! Thank you for watching! Hope you enjoyed it.

How does the Expanse compare with the LCD-5 in terms of dynamics and detail?
In my opinion the Expanse has way less detail, worse imaging, a slightly better soundstage and better dynamics than the LCD-5. The Expanse is mid to lower pack in speed, the LCD-5 is near the top. The Expanse is more fun, the LCD is more analytical.
We need to see the battle of e-stats on this channel . Including the Warwick acoustics bravura headphone system

You should review headphone gears with well produced, mixed, mastered tracks... who cares if piece of crap tracks sound good on an headphones and well recorded,produced, mixed, mastered tracks sound bad
A 4k headphone should sound good with bad recordings too. Considered how much insanely good music is recorded badly for various reasons. My Caldera sounds beautifully even with so so recordings.
@@amaya897 My experience is the opposite. Bad recordings sound alright on cheap headphones, as you step up to better cans you start to realize how bad the track really sounds. Sort of the inverse of great records and well mastered music, sounds good on cheap headphones but as you step up it reaches new heights and become even better.
How would you rate these for movies/games?
I just love the style and color of it, but I know a HEK1SE is probably the better headphone and half the price.
7:19 Hard, deep and loose just how I like em.
TBH, The HE1000V2 or the Arya Stealth are better for movies and games. Easier to drive. I didn’t get on well with the Expanse. They’re for sale with their expensive Norne cable.
