Band was new to me... I added a new metal genre to my huge music collection ;)
That's what I love to hear!
Oh hey, awesome! That's my pick! On the theme of riffs, I chose this song because there's some really unique things going on that just really gripped me when I first heard this song. Especially the chorus/outro riff really stands out to me, and has become one of my all time favorites over time. I'm usually not that big on djent, but VOLA do harmonies so well, and when mixed with the djenty grooves it's super addictive. Conceptually, VOLA really like delving into themes of mental health, and the concept for this album is a selection of different "stories" where, in each story, they explore the mind of a person - their fears, longings and dynamics in relations to other people, so there's not one over-arching story, but rather a common theme. Regarding your comment that you've only listened to songs from one album from VOLA, it's not quite correct, as you've listened to 24 Light-years which is from their newest record (Inmazes is their oldest). But there is another album you still haven't heard anything from, which in my view stands out from the rest and is my favorite album of theirs. But I think it's best to listen to in full, so I really hope to get it into album review at some point.
I love this band. They do so much great work. This album is my favorite though
If that's the only album you listened to, strongly recommend to check the other's too. I love 2nd for being more melodic and 3rd for being just overall cool
Ooh, excellent choice. Whole album is juicy as hell.
My daughter is six and loves to fall asleep to Vola and Caligula's Horse!
Never heard Vola, but this very much sounds like Meshuggah with melody and a "lighter" tonality, which is pretty cool. I do kinda wish I felt there was more to it than that because neither aspect feels particularly innovative or fresh; it's merely the combination that's interesting.
This was excellent. They surprise but never shock with how they make their transitions at both expected moments, and unexpected a beat early/late. Beautiful stuff.
Denmark should be proud! ❤
Yes! This is my favorite song by Vola!
4:05 pure djent gold!
Dream djent ftw
Gorgoroth-gorgoroth please
