I think your final opinion was spot on. Tough price tag to justify for a limited feature if you upgrade to the Pro. As a guy with a few Live units, I’m still on the fence about upgrading to the new gen at all.
I almost feel people with live units are in a better position than somebody looking to buy new Lowrance today. Because at least you could add that s3100 and AIHD transducer to get Mega and chirp on side and down scan rather than having to buy a whole new system. Guess we'll see you soon what consumer response is?
You answered my question, what do I do to update the lives I have now, I can get rid of the birds finally lol!

Great vid! So if I buy a new HDS Pro 12 why do I need the S3100? I am going to use the HDS Pro with the AIHD and a TM265HL transducer. Is the only advantage the FishReveal on Sidescan? If I want to connect the trolling motor to the HDS that also should be possible directly on the Pro right?
Can you tell me if the 3100 has been upgraded for the software to be able to use all the features on a Simrad EVO 3 as yet .. thanx in advance

I'm looking at this unit as i have a HDS Live unit (has 2x 9 pin sockets) and want to use both the 3 in 1 transducer (1x 9 pin plug) and the Airmar TM275LHW (2x 9 pin plugs). Is there a better way to be able to use both transducers?
I’ve had HDS16 live+SS75H+TM150+3D structurescan installed on by bout. Decided to get a better image and installed S3100 with ActiveImaging 3-in-1 HD Med/High transducer (replaced 3D structurescan). The result is:
Image quality with AI HD worse. After connecting SS75H or TM150 a lot of noise.
Who can recommend solution? Should I go back to SS75H+TM150+3D structurescan package?
I have an Elite FS 9 and want to hook up the 3 in 1 tranducer that came with the unit as well as a thru hull 2D tranducer to the unit. Will the S3100 help me accomplish this task?
Do you think the Mega Hz would really make much of a difference on the Elite FS considering the low screen resolution?

I just bought a HDS Live 16" w/o ducer for my bow...trying to decide what to put at the console. Was thinking two 9"s. Should I get one Pro and one Live? if I did that, would I need the S3100? Or could I just daisy chain off the Pro (w/ 3-1 ActiveHD ducer) to the other Lives? That would save me money.
I don't think many people will buy that module, fish reveal isn't worth $. I agree makes side scan look cluttered & I don't think I trust software to say that's a fish in that spot. Better to learn what fish look like on side scan normally plus its mostly for locating structure. The new hd3n1 imaging looks awesome. From what I've seen it's looking better than mega+ & Garmin's gt56! I'm not a brand loyal guy. I like them all. If I didn't just buy an 10" echomap ultra 106sv for 899 on sale from bass pro I would be considering the 10" hds pro. But 2800 vs 900. I don't think the hds pro looks $1900 better than the gt56. I can add lvs34 & 32ah 14v lithium battery for that price difference. Doesn't matter wait another year then be something newer & they all be outdated
Agree 100% on fish reveal side scan with you!! Those echo map 106 is where a killer deal at Bass Pro so I don't think you made a mistake as far as that goes :)
@@InDepthSonar this is my first fishing electronics ever. I've been doing research on them about a year now. I've been kayak fishing almost 8yrs now so it's about dam time I got something... I'm glad I waited because I got a awesome deal. I really like the new hds pro 10". If their were no deals I'd be debating between that and the ultra 106. But there a big price tag on the hds pro. I think the hds pro's will probably have best side& down imaging now.
So I have the 3 in 1 2d on my NSS Evo3s ,if I got this 3D module with with transducer I’ll only be gaining fishreveal sidescan an not echo or down?
@@chrismulhollen5135 if you don't have a new hds pro, you need buy correct new HD3n1 transducer, there's 6 variations on new hd3n1. & Buy s3100 module which is another 950+ then that will give you fish reveal in side & down scan, 2d & allow new transducer to work with older units/HDS pro elite fs. I'm not exactly sure about Simrad unit's? Idk if their about release new ones or if their going to do a software update, which is all any of units actually need to run any of anything. They won't give older units the software update so u have buy new one if you want the latest & greatest.
@@chrismulhollen5135 I'm a fan of Lowrance's sonar imaging & new C-map charts. Ide say with new transducer they probably have the best side& down scan, not by much but a little. So I've been looking into buy new unit past year. I've tried contacting Lowrance, hummingbird, Garmin, Simrad with questions & to see how thier customer service is. Garmin will get back to right away, alot of time u can reach someone right then. At wort case the next morning. Hummingbird is pretty good they get back to you next day or a few at worst case. Lowrance has never gotten back to me ever!? Thier customer service is non-existent! Simrad is better but not much their 3rd in the list. For that reason alone I'm avoiding Lowrance. If you don't stand behind your products & customers than I'm not investing any my hard earned $ in them.
On a Hobie PA14 Kayak, HDS Live or Pro, would I only need the 3100 with AIHD 3 in 1 FR or do I have to have two transducers?

my goal is to use the 3in1 which already have on my hds 9 and add another airmar, that should work right and i only need the s3100 unit or any extras? I plan two have a tm265LM, both frequencies will show on the hds, correct?
Another dumb question, can i keep the 3in1 on my hds unit port and then add two 1kw transducers on the s3100?

If you have a Pro with AIHD transducer and daisy chain with live units will the live units see the same AIHD images the pro does once the updates are completed? In other words, a pro unit in the chain would eliminate the need for the S3100 if no fish reveal was needed? Thank you!
Yes that should work fine... But we'll have to wait until the software is out to know for sure. You never know they might limit it to force you to buy the S3100
Hi, do you know up to how many meters deep the new active imaging HD works with the module s3100 in side scan?? Because the old active imaging 3 in 1 works until to 50-60 meters deep in side scan.
So say I have HDS LIVE. Will the new s3100, and new 3in1 work ?

I have never had a fish sonar equipment ..I just bought a HDS 12 with no transducer....I plan on putting it at the Bow for active target...and later replace the helix 7 that was in the console of the boat I recently purchased with another HDS12 live..your last video I watched said Active Target 2 transducer would be coming out that would work with current black box....So is this a new Black box that I should consider getting instead of the old black box that is on sale for 550.00 and wait on new Active target 2 to come out...what's the best bang for my buck

AT2 will only work with the AT2 box as far as I know at this point. So whatever you get make sure box and transducer are the same, either both AT or AT2

You'll need the s3100 and a new AIHD transducer
So if you have the HDS PRO you do not need the s3100 modules correct? Just the HD Transducer.
If you want fish reveal you need the box with the pro.
I currently have the HDS9 Live. Maybe already asked but I would have to get both or just module? At this price point I would be better off to wait for the HDS 9 Pro

Unless you can change the contrast, brightness, scroll speed, tvg etc, garmin, humminbird and raymarine will always be king

Iam just looking for my first unit and want to go with Lowrance to mount on my Hobie PA12 360 but this is all getting very confusing. Do I need Chirp? They really know how to market their products. Cant get this on this model but if you step you can get this or that for $1000.00 more. LOL
There is a lot to it. HDS Pro or HDS Live units will give you the most options to expand down the road. Elite FS units are a good alternative if you have a budget
Will an HDS Live run the 1kW HD Active image transducer without the S3100?
Also, if one as an S3100 and 3 HDS Lives and the HD 3 in 1, will the other 2 be able to display HD imaging if daisy chained off of the MFD that is ethernetted to the S3100?
Fish Reveal is not important to me as I don't use it now and I don't rely on it for identifying fish.
AIHD is only supported by HDS Live through the s3100 module. If you have three live units and one module and one AI HD transducer then all will see that single transducer

If you get the new AIHD Ghost 3 in 1 nose cone and the S3100 sonar module you'll get high frequency side and down scan but the fish reveal is only for the HDS Pro
@InDepth Sonar yes I have the 3n1 nose cone on my Ghost. so is it just side imaging for fish reveal... sorry if that's a dumb one, but I'm new to this and just outfitted my boat a few months ago. I'm not sure if I want to go to the expense of AT or if I can get by with this module, which is nearly the same cost.. and it makes my fish reveal "active". Thanks for your input and help as I try and figure it out

Are you sure that this is required for HDS Pro side scan fish reveal? I thought this was only for live carbon and elite fs guys who wanted new frequencies and didn’t have the pro

I currently have an HDS16 Live at the bow and two 12 inch SIMRAD NSS EVO3s in the console and Lowrance Active Target on a Rite-Hite turret. I have a transom mounted Lowrance Active Imaging 3n1 transducer.
1. Will the S3100 work on all 3 MFD’s ?
2. Will the new 3n1 HD work on all 3 MFD’s

The S3100 will only work on the Live units at this point. Haven't heard if it will on the NSS. Same for the AIHD because you'll need the S3100 on the Live for the AIHD to work
Understood, this may be incidental, but I noticed SIMRAD, B&G, LOWRANCE printed on the bottom left corner of the S3100 unit which leads me to believe the S3100 would be compatible with Simrad....again this may be incidental and just a template insignia. I want to somehow confirm the S3100 is compatible with my NSS evo3s's before I pull the trigger on an upgrade. Thanks

I am planning on purchasing the S3100 Module & the HD 3in1 Transducer so I can at least upgrade the Side and Down Imaging clarity. Hopefully the Simarad NSS evo3s will be compatible in the future with a software upgrade.
FYI - I currently can view my Active Target on the NSS evo3s MFD units through networking (NMEA 2000) with the Lowrance HDS Live. The HDS Live unit has to powered up to provide AI to the NSS evo3s units. I may be able to access the new AIHD and S3100 in the same way.
You must mean through Ethernet because AT1 won't share through NMEA2000. Yes I think you'll be able to do what you want with AIHD .. but the Simrad will only display what it is capable of. So that means 455 and 800, not the new mega or chirp frequency. That is of course unless they update the NSS software like you said

I have an active imaging 3 in 1 hooked to my Carbon 9 and it works at least sidescan does.

No. You'll need the HDS pro, AIHD transducer and S3100 for SideScan FishReveal.

As stated in the video, Lowrence has said it is compatible but we don't know what exactly that means yet and what sonar frequencies will work

This module is just money taking marketing from hds live user... U said this is support 4 compatability with hds displays... Why need any support, this displays are same 720p reaolution like pro... Display just show what transducer and proc see... So this is PURE MARKETING TRICK to cell new same hds series with new name, only transducer is with little higher frequency...hds live can awaysome run with new transducer with just a software upgrade... But in that case nobody will buy new series... So thats all folks! Do not buy this! Chears!
It got to be ridiculous to follow lowrance products. I just buy last years model and forget all the marketing.
