My trick for using this: Do it in sections as you do. As soon soon soon as it feels mostly dry, switch to the cool setting to finish. For me, this is where the shine and volume come in. My hair doesn't look nearly as smooth if I don't do this. It also cuts way down on the damage.
That's very good to know !! Yes,never comb or brush your hair when it's wet !! As it damages the cuticles & removes them !! Is your hair fine ,or thick ? 💜🥁🐉🎤💞
Better than rough drying is to let it AIR DRY up to 75-80% before I start with the Revlon!! I find that by air drying, my hair is less frizzy to begin with the Revlon. I only wash my hair a couple times a week so I just choose to dry it when I know I have the time to let it air dry. I am like you, though, I always have to dry my hair on high, no matter which dryer I use.
This is my favorite hair tool ever. I’ve been using it for a year and half. It does get extremely hot so I turn it down to the low setting around my face and top section where it’s mostly color processed but use the high setting for the majority of my hair because of thickness/coarseness. This is a great styler and great tips for those looking for a new tool!
I absolutely love this tool. This weekend I was at Walmart and they had them on clearance for $25 a piece! I bought myself a backup and one for each of my girlfriends!
I’m so glad I found this video! I bought that dryer back in the fall. It is the best thing ever! In the winter I noticed my hair seemed much dryer than usual. While there are several reasons that could have been the cause, I started using a leave in conditioner in addition to the heat protectant. I also let my hair air dry about 80-90% before I start. It feels much better and looks like I came from the salon.
I also have curly and coarse hair. Hispanic. Despite my blonde look, I am Hispanic. My hair goes well with the ✔ Reconstruction Masque Therapiste Hair Mask from Kerastase every other week. I use ✔ Joico PAK shampoo for colored hair. ✔ Silicone Bambu cream. I put ✔ Ciment Thermique Blow Dry Primer when hair is 50% wet, then wait for my hair to be damp. ✩✩ Once a week I leave this mixture for a day (sometimes overnight): ✔ Cresce Pelo mask, ✔ Coconut Oil, ✔ Castor Oil and ✔ Silicone Bambu. Melt Coconut + Castor oil, because Castor oil is very thick. After I mix it, I place in a little container and use for weeks until I need to create this mix again. I have a beach look for a day… not ideal… but it helps my hair gets all the good oils. I am turning 41 and realised I need to shower my scalp more often... :-/ so it helps to give a break from the blow dryer. Overall I totally agree with you! Section your hair, protection, hair salon creams (and variation. I learned that you hair benefits from getting those, so I have travel size of differents brands), and damp hair! My hair is done in 10 - 15 minutes and I have a long hair! Love your video! Great assurance I am doing the right thing!
I had long thick hair and I ended up with shoulder length hair, because of the Revlon Brush, because of the extreme Heat this brush produces all my ends got fried, I kept using and getting my hair trimmed and using all kinds of hydrating a d moisturizing products and nothing until my hair stylist asked what tools I use to dry my hair at home and she immediately told me to stop using it, she recommended the Dry Bar, I went to Ulta, got it and now my hair is happy and healthy. The Revlon one might give you temporary smooth results but it does burn your hair strands, Sorry but I rather have healthy long hair, its a no for Revlon and yes for drybar
This thing gets HOTTTT!! 🔥So hot it burned my neck with the hot air and I actually had to go out and buy burn cream! It also fried 2 sections of my hair after using only several times.. and it's at the root so I can't cut it off! So mad. 😭 If you have fine hair like me you need to use this on low or cool setting for sure!
My hair has broken off everywhere from this styler. I love it because it’s easier for me but it’s not work losing my hair. Most of my front hairs are only 2 inches short now. I use mostly the low setting (it doesn’t work as well) because I noticed it got super hot.
I find the nylon bristles have melted alittle I only use it on medium cuz high is way to hot I think Revlon can improve the dryer I dont know how long I will have to toss it I do not find it damaging
I completely agree with all ur recommendations. I’ve had this tool about almost 2 years and I myself was getting a lot of damage because of this tool. I would use it on wet hair right out of the shower, but now I let it dry to about 75% then I’ll blow dry it with this tool.
I have coarse, curly hair and use this dryer 2-3 times per week on high. I use Kerastase Nectar Thermique as a heat protectant. On the other days, I use hair oil. I have been using the dryer long before anyone on you tube even mentioned it. If it wasn’t for this tool, I would just go curly all the time because I cannot get a smooth and lasting blowout otherwise.
I bought this after seeing your video. I had been using a similar tool by John Freida. But this revlon one seemed to be more powerful, which it was for sure. I was in love at first. Then a couple months in I realized my hair seemed frizzy. I also have thick, curly and coarse hair, so I was using high setting. I get Brazilian blowouts every 3 months. Recently I burned my hand in it. I wrote the manufacturer, and they actually sent me a new device, and a prepaid label to return the old one. I thought something must be wrong with it. I used new one for first time today and it works exactly the same as the one I returned. And now I’m seeing all these updated videos on the same issue. I always rough dry my hair, or let it air dry. Today I used it on low and I thought “this will take all day”. Surprisingly, it didn’t take too long. And my hair looks fine. Unfortunately, it’s gonna take a couple haircuts to get all the dead ends cut off.
Go to Sephora and get the Olaplex 4 and 5 ASAP! It completely changed my hair in a few washes/conditions. I also recommend the Briogeo Rosarco blow dry protectant. Amazing.
I would never use this tool again. It destroyed my hair, even with heat protection [ bumble & bumble, karastase) , 80-90 % dry, low setting always & blowout like once a week or every 2 weeks...and still fried my hair.
My heart dropped when I saw your title because I love, love, love my styled and I have been using it for close to 2 years. I am basically following all the steps you talked about. I never have used it on the high heat because it is so hot! It would burn my scalp and the side of my face when I first got it and used it. I learned quickly to turn it down...lol.
No matter what I do this legit kills my hair. The metal part becomes extremely hot and it's not true that it causes less damage. I tried this and it FRIED my hair. Then I took a break from it for a couple of months, got a massive haircut, and then tried using it again and my hair ended up absolutely dead once again. This damaged my hair worse than hair straighteners have in the past.
@@moonwitch1615 Yeah I had such long hair before using this :( I can't believe they market it as a less damaging option. I had to cut so much of it and now I am just trying my best to revive whatever is left of it.
@@Hello61Jello the exact same thing happened to me. I cut my hair 6 months ago because it was so bad. I oil my hair every week now, use the right shampoo and conditioner and thank God my hair is finally growing and I see new hair growth. The revlon brush is so so so bad, I can’t believe people still use this thing. It doesn’t matter how you use it or how many times, it completely ruins your, even if you use it just once!
I’ve seen dozens of reviews and they pretty much sum up to the same conclusion. It’s good for instan short-term results. However, in the long run it’s definitely damaging to the hair. I would much rather invest in a good quality hair dryer and round brushes and master that technique. I guess it’s one of those things where short cuts are just not an option. Yes it will take a while to get the hang of maneuvering a dryer and brush, but I’ll take that over frying my hair out. Using a traditional hair dryer vs the brush tool gives you better results as you can select heat temperature( #1 reason the tool gets hot, the temps are preset and the brush just stays hot) and also you are able to switch to smaller brushes therefore achieving different looks and REALLY getting in there at the roots.
My hair is kind of thin and after I got a haircut (my hair was sooo smooth) I started using this. Man it got really damaged much faster than anything else I've used in the past. It's only been two months since then but it feels like I've had horrible hair for 6 months. It speeded up the damage for sure. Glad to see this. Ty
I actually feel my hair has looked less damaged since I began using this dryer. I use both a leave in conditioner and a heat protectant. I also allow my hair to air dry for at least 20 minutes, usually more, before using the dryer. I do section my hair when drying, and I don’t overdry. I’ve found my hair is less wiry, much smoother, shinier, and softer than it was before I began using this product. I think that is due to the fact that I rarely used a round brush with my traditional dryer-it was just too awkward for me.
lol just wait. After some time it completely wrecked my hair and I had to cut it. The metal part still gets very hot, so you're putting a hot metal against damp hair. Def not less damaging :/
I've used this tool, still do...since it came out and my hair is still looks good, no problem, I love it, ppl have to wear a heat protector too, it helps...
My hair is very thick and curly. I just bought this tool. I use a heat protectant and use this tool on low and layer my hair in sections. The tool will turn off if it over heats. I then use smaller sections. I usually will use a straightening iron to do the top layer to make sure it stays straight. Them more oil. To protect from humility. 😁
I’ve been using mine since December and damage. I use it on low the majority of the time. I have carpal tunnel and it’s been a lifesaver. I use heat protectant before blow drying. I condition my hair also.
My hair got damaged. My hair thinned out bad. I had split ugly ends too. I had to stop using it. I went back to using a bristle round brush, I got a trim and I went back to using my chi flat iron. My hair looks fuller and healthy again.
I have thick curly hair and I always use the low setting works fine. I also use it on my daughter with thick waist length hair on the low setting and it works great.
Ever since I switched to the wow color water based blowout spray and blew dry my hair (straight down from roots) before going in with the Revlon tool my hair looks so much shinier and frizz free. I’ve been using this since the pandemic started and couldn’t get my blowouts, it’s def a game changer for me too!
Hi Risa! Thanks for these tips. I have naturally thin, blonde hair and found that this dryer was making my hair frizzy. The Redkin Diamond Oil and their conditioning leave-in heat protectant cream and their regular heat protecting hair mist are what it takes for me not to be a frizz-ball and the most important thing is low heat. It doesn't take a lot of product since my hair is so thin that I usually don't have to wait long at all before it is dry enough to start working on it. I love the dryer and this mix of products does the trick. I thought it was just me! Thanks for the update! ♥
My hair is fine too and made mine frizzy too. I also left it in a spot a little long and burnt off a small section of hair, lesson learned. Otherwise I love it.
I recommend Olaplex 6 and 7, as well as 4 and 5. They don’t weigh the hair down. The low setting ends up too hot too and I have to switch it to cool just to cool down the barrel. If you haven’t used Olaplex oil, you’re missing out.
I use the Revlon One Step and I love it. I like your advice on the hair products. I haven't seen it at my hairdresser, but she does have very good products. I'm like you; I don't dry my hair with this tool too much; usually it's about once or twice a week and my hair is not damaged and it looks great.
I just had this delivered from Target... cannot wait to use it. Just waiting for some special hair products to come in before I straighten again. Glad all of that is already a part of my routine. Hope this works as well as people say. I went for the cheaper one instead of the Hot Tools like I planned. I had a 20% off coupon, and free delivery. So I got this including tax/delivery for under $37.00.
Hi Risa! First time poster though I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time. Just want to add my opinion that this tool has been amazing for me and in fact, it has improved my hair’s health because I don’t need to follow up with a flat iron as I did with just a dryer and round brush. I have fine, wavy blonde hair a little shorter than yours. I do use it on the low setting and I get salon quality body and smoothness every time. I just love love love it! Thanks for all your helpful videos. You are my favourite!
I also bought this based on your recommendation. Thank you. I love it. I have thick long slightly wavy hair which is not coarse. I use Weleeda rosemary hair oil. It helps. I have seen no hair damage after one month of regular use. I take it to the pool. I use it on medium setting. Although I wear a cap for lap swimming. My hair does get slightly wet. I use this tool, and it works very quickly. I also do not use it on very wet hair. I find the Drybar round brush and a good ionic blow dryer also gives salon results. I enjoy your videos. They are highly informative.
Hi Risa and fellow Revlon Volumizer users. I purchased mine, an authentic Revlon from Bed Bath and Beyond, in February. It has 3 settings. Perhaps it is a newer model? However, I will check again when I get home🤔
Okay. I checked my Revlon tool. You are all correct. There are only 2 settings. They are not that defined. I guess I use mostly the low setting. Sorry for the confusion. The settings seem to run one into the next.
My hair is very healthy using this product.I rough dry until 75%-80% dry. I also use Joico Kpak shampoo and Conditioner, Biolage moringa oil, and Kenra Platinum Blow Dry Spray :)
This works for me, but I rarely use my flat iron after drying with this dryer. I feel like it would be Overkill. If I do need the flat iron I use it at a really low temp for some smoothing on humid days. This dryer works wonders and actually helps my hair retain moisture without the flat iron. The other "issue" I have with it is that I find it doesn't get my roots really well, so when I'm done with the Revlon dryer and just blow the roots really well, literally takes like 30 seconds. And I never start with soaking wet hair.
I bought it as well on Black Friday at Ulta well I got the Hot Tools one. My hair is already in bad shape/ I have been working to get it back to healthy. I’ve only used it once and I Loved it! I noticed it was so hot on high so I used it on low.
It’s because people are using it on wet out of the shower hair. Just like any heat tool too much is damaging. Let your hair air dry 75% before you use this or use a blow dryer on low heat until it’s 75% then use this
several tips for this dryer using some kind of heat resisting or oil to protect the hair would be good. Letting the hair dry to about 70 to 80% air dry is also good unless your in a hurry. Use the setting on medium not high heat to help with less damage. Once a week or three times a month if possible do some kind of treatment on the hair like a mask of sorts to help nurish the hair. I am up in age and ive been doing this for a long time and i always get complemented on my hair and i do have color treated hair so i take extra steps. Any tool no matter what you use whether this revlon tool, a flat iron, or hair dryer all can potentially damage the hair but its how you use them to avoid less damage. I know these are not new tips of any kind but hopefully this helps someone who doesn't know.
I let my hair air dry to 70% and then use this on a cool setting and find it doesn’t damage too much. I only use it for special occasions so like once every couple of months too. X
Well... First of all, I can't wait until my hair is a percent air dried because it simply doesn't work for me; I'd be Lion King part 2 because of the frizz. I blow dry my hair with the Revlon with my hair damp and my hair lasts easy a week or more without the need of washing my hair too often. Second, I use it in High because in Low it does not do the job. Besides, I use the cold air botton to seal the straightening and it really works for me. I love this Revlon- lution..!😂🤣
What?....I love hearing you explain all the details. So many tutorials that UA-camrs don’t explain the little details I like to know. Love this hair tutorial Risa!
I have been using this dryer since you recommended it. It’s been a total game changer for me too. I have the European version and I don’t find it gets too hot. I also have long waist length colour treated hair and I also am obsessive about hair care, using exclusively Olaplex products. I wash my hair in the shower, wrap it in my twisty, then do my makeup so that the hair is almost dry by the time I dry it. My hairdresser is amazed at how healthy my hair is……… It’s an amazing tool…thank you for recommending it!
I am planning to buy one from France.... since you said the European version doesn't get as hot... would you recommend I buy it for my thin fine hair? Because the only thing keeping me from buying this product is the concern of heat damage.
I'm so late to the party but I have to say your technique for "Rough Drying" is GENIUS!!! I've been tossing and turning about purchasing the Revlon One Step (or possibly the new version) but I have fine, thin hair and some loss (thanks for nothing, Menopause), and have been nervous about spending money on something that might make matters worse. I have hope that using my regular dryer for Rough Drying (I use Low setting) will allow me to use the Revlon for a short amount of time w/out hurting my poor ole locks. Wish me luck and thank you!
@@Amy-fk5we Yes, Amy, I did! I bought it at Ulta for $70ish only to find it at Costco later for $50 (Phooey but oh well!) Having never used anything like a “brush dryer” type, I was a bit spastic at first. It’s fairly large so it took me a while to figure out the arm gymnastics (especially drying my hair in the back)! BUT once I got the hang of it (and hopefully I’ll get quicker at it), the results were amazing (truly). It makes my white thin locks look super shiny. I save the One Step for special occasions. (That’s because I’m lazy. Haha) Hope this helps!
@@thendrix58 So funny you replied today! Got mine and tried it for the first time today 😄 I have to agree with you, results are AMAZING! My hair is very fine, so to not damage it I used Low/Cool settings. The Blowout held amazing too without any hair products! Very pleased!
I tried this today and I am happy I came across your video. Was almost gonna return the one step dryer I got from hot tools. My hair feels much more healthy now. Thank you 💞
My hair is coarsed and curly bcause I stopped the keratin treatments a while ago, so it takes a little time and muscle to work with it... 🤷♀️I've learned to use it in the low speed because I burned a piece of hair of the back of my head when used it in high speed. The results are the same, maybe a little more time consuming but totally worth it since my hair looks healthy. My hairstylist was the one who noticed it when I went to her to cut it.
Oh my gosh I feel exactly the same way about this tool as you! It’s been a total game changer for me and I can get salon like hair - never been able to that in my life! 🥰👍😍 I only wash my hair once/week or maybe twice and I too have struggled with damaged dry hair and it’s just been getting healthy again in the last 6 months. I haven’t noticed any damage and was just at my hair salon on Saturday and we talk about my hair health every visit and my stylist said my hair was nice and healthy. I do actually practice pretty much all of these tips so I think for sure they help! And HUGE thank you for introducing me to these fabulous styling tool! Xo Tammy Roy 🇨🇦
What bugs me about about all these one-step dryers is that there isn't a cool shot button that's separate from the barrel and the hot hair. Also it hard to move the controls around until you find the setting you want. So the cool setting is useless because your hot hair is still sitting on the hot barrel. The cool shot button cools the hair completely.I use the Olaplex leave-in conditioner and a spray heat protector. My hair breaks easily and I always dry on low heat with my hair almost completely dry A lot effort goes into keeping you hair healthy when using a one-step dryer. Does anyone else want the cool shot button?
I have the dry bar brush and I get what you’re saying and second this. When using the cool setting the air is still warm or hot from the heat setting and the barrel is hot. I just turn it off let it cool and then use the cool setting. It sucks to do that extra step but it helps to get the cool setting to actually be cool.
I did all these things but still noticed by hair got quite damaged and dry. So now I just use it once in a while and just try to air dry my hair before straightening
What I do so there’s not so mu damage to my hair is after I towel dry my hair I use the cool setting on my regular hair dryer till it’s about 60%dry. Then I use the Revlon blow dryer it’s saves on your hair from too much drying on high heat.
@@victoria_8817 please tell us more of your experience. I think the tool it's changing the texture of my hair. I've been using it for 4 months and use it once a week.
@@victoria_8817 I’ve used it twice and I feel like I’m finding more breakage... it gets my hair so hot it hurts to touch my hair. I liked the results but afraid to damage my hair more so might have to return it
OMG! I think I love you😄... I feel the same way... love this dryer but have struggled with damage for the first time in my life... and more facial dryness around my hairline... really appreciate when you tubers do creative, smart, helpful videos that really make a difference .. you r awesome!!!
I had the Revlon, but now I use the Hot Tools 24 K gold with the charcoal infused bristles. It does not get as hot. I have also found if you turn the dryer off before removing the curl it gives it a chance to cool a bit before moving on to the next section. Great video Risa as always. Thank you
I wanted this for ages, I remember asking Stephanie if it would tangle my hair further but apparently not. However I don't think I have the patience for it
Thanks Risa, I have been using this dryer for about 4 months and LOVE it. I also have curly course hair and have to use it on high. I put oil on my ends the night before I'm going to wash it and that is keeping my hair healthy. I love it so much I'm getting a backup dryer!!! xo Cindi
I have hair bleached every 6 weeks. My hair is very healthy and I use the Revlon one step dryer almost daily. My trick is to use Redken Extreme 4 shampoo/conditioner then wet hair pretty goid with WOW Dreamcoat spray. Shiny healthy hair. It's grown quickly too without split ends so mid back right now. The Revlon does run hot and woukd be perfect with adjustable heat. A tad bit down in temp woukd be great but the dream coat leaves it unbelievable. Just my opinion on what works for me.
It's times like these that remind me how fortunate I am to have curly hair. I honestly wouldn't know what to do with a hair styler gadget. But curly hair itself can be VERY dry, naturally. Then it's deep conditioners or Olaplex that comes to the rescue. xxx 💕💕💕 xxx
Chrissy Moss I have extremely curly type 3C hair but hate it so I straighten it. I blow dry it 2x a week and then use a flat iron daily to smooth the roots which curl up a lot when I sleep.
@@TheLauren1113 I'll bet you're curly hair is absolutely GORGEOUS. I can't go straight as I have VERY angular features, I would look like a witch! XXX XXX XXX
You’re lucky you have nice curls. My hair is curly and it dries nicely at the bottom, but the top is a disaster. I have been blowing it out straight since 1993!
I use olaplex s & c too. it feels like it really works to strengthen and make my hair smooth/shiny. i also loved the revlon styler but lately I find that my hair is getting caught between the edge of the brush and the tip. for a month it worked perfectly but now more and more hair gets stuck and I have to cut it. I admit that I was not carefully sectioning or anything. I liked that I could use this mindlessly and get the results I want. Do you think this would happen to anyone who isn’t careful with making small sections? I’m at the point where I’m scared to go near it bc I’m going to end up with a mullet. lol.
Thank you Risa for this video and for suggesting Olaplex. I recently purchased the shampoo and conditioner and I am amazed at the difference they have made for my hair!!
Thanks for the info I was starting to see some breakage from this tool and I do love it myself! I too started rough drying it to which help . Always put heat products 😊
Thank you for the update. I had tried to find your original video a few months ago and couldn’t find it. I, too, have coarse, curly hair and spend way too much time getting ready in the morning. Getting this now.
I just got my Revlon, love it but did notice some breakage. I’ll try your suggestions. Do you use styling spray after you complete the drying process? Great video. Thanks.
This damaged my hair at the ends and underneath, it made it so weak my curling wand burned my hair off underneath. I’m trying to not use it now while I grow my hair out as I can’t cut off the damage yet 😕
Let your hair air dry til about 80% dry, use quality heat protectant like it's a 10 leave in cream or briogio heat protectant cream throughout, avoiding the roots of course, and add a small amount of hair oil on your ends and you'll be fine! I love this product
l have very fine hair. l use the low setting to dry my hair. l also wait until my hair is 80 percent dry. l need to get a good shampoo and conditioner like you suggested. Especially since i do color and highlight my hair. My hairdresser said my hair is not damaged at all. l use the dryer twice a week. l only wash my hair twice a week. l feel i can attribute no damage to me using the low setting when drying. l must get the products you recommended.
I guess Garnier...isn't going to be adequate. I just used this for the first time and my thin silver hair was "flyaway"...I need practice and a decent cut. I'll keep trying.
People either love or hate Olaplex. Add me to the hate group. I think it is one of the worst products I have ever used. Yours looks really healthy and my hair is also highlighted. If you read the reviews online at Sephora and elsewhere it seems to be a love it or hate it. It has also been associated with hair loss which is troubling to me. I found it weighed my hair down, made it less shiny and dried it out over trme. Definitely not a fan. I prefer Kerastase products but also love Aveda Shampure as a lower price point product. Have yet to find any Redken I love.
Wow! I have had this tool for about a year. Back in May 2020 started noticing a ton of breakage and hair loss. I was blaming it on a double processing. During the lockdown I went to a hairdresser that screwed up my root color badly. Had to have highlights done to straighten it out. I was blaming the damage on that double processing. Now I'm wondering if it's the Revlon. Perhaps it's both. I can never use it on the hottest setting.
So I have issues with this styler beyond its amazingness. I may as well blow dry my hair from the bottom up 🙄 b/c it blows the breakage up while Im blowing my tresses down so I still have to go in with my straighter to SMOOTH the shaft...I dont get how some don't need to use a flat iron after 🤔Trust I have all the prep products in and still have to flat iron it, Im really considering taking it back and sticking with my round brush b/c it aint no "1 step" for this girl 🙄 Anyone else have this issue?
I have lots of wavy but fine hair about your length. I LOVE this dryer. Always wondered about it though since the hair lies directly or very close to the metal heating element. So far no issues here but only use it about once a week, rough dry and do use heat protection. Am able to use on low heat with great results. The hot was too much for my fine hair.
Lisa Humphreys i think u should use more oils and stuff to build a covering layer with argan oil, protect heat something, leave in conditioner and ect. Idk if it works but DONT TRY IT BEFORE RESEARCH IM JUST A KID LOL yah buy argan oil will get it straight faster and silkier/smoother/smells Wonder btw
How do you keep it looking so clean and brand new? I've used it for months no damage to my hair at all I clean it but mine definitely has had wear and tear in the dryer not my hair at all
I do use it on low but the low setting unfortunately is how fast the air comes out not the temperature I bought this at Ulta last year when it was 50% off and couldn’t use it because My hair was to short I’ve been growing it out and just recently started using it try it on low you’ll see it still gets blazing hot I love it I bought the Olaplex too great stuff‼️
Hi Patricia, I’ve tried it on low several times. It takes 3x as long so eventually I end up switching it to high. My hair is so curly and coarse it needs the fast, high heat. I am glad to hear you love the Olaplex products as well!
They have it on amazon for $36. Thinking about buying it. I had a Conair InfinitiPro before but now I just use a round brush and dryer. It comes out ok but doesn’t last and not as shiny as a salon blowout.
I got the hot tools version and I have started noticing more damage. Im not sure why or what I am doing but I may go back to a blow dryer. The hot tools just gets hot with a brush doesnt blow air so I use it as a 2nd or 3rd day refresh tool. It adds volume, it sucks its damaging my hair.
Yes !! We know that combing ,or brushing wet hair is no no as it damages / removes cuticles of hair !!! I always wonder why hair stylists do that !!? Lol. So ,it totally makes sense to start styling after just blow drying ,or air drying ( not good ,though as it absorbs germs in the air & grow the germs on scalp to smell bad ! ) 1st to 80% dry ,or so like you suggested ,then start using ( or blow drying with a regular roll brush ) this tool ! But, many might think then the name is misguiding ? Lol. But ,hey ! Better protecting our hair !! Lol Also anything is very hot can not be hair friendly ,I think ! I am so interested in this product ! 💜🥁🐉🎤💞
I have a lot of hair that is fine. I have a short bob like my profile pic..I use the low setting and my hair dries in 10 minutes. I had been waiting a year to buy this because I had to wait that long for all my layers to grow out to be able to use this. It is the best thing I've ever purchased. I also use Olaplex and give myself treatments with the 1 & 2..the results are just amazing.
My trick for using this: Do it in sections as you do. As soon soon soon as it feels mostly dry, switch to the cool setting to finish. For me, this is where the shine and volume come in. My hair doesn't look nearly as smooth if I don't do this. It also cuts way down on the damage.
Technically you are supposed to start using it when your hair is already mostly dry.
Thanks for that tip! I never use the cool setting, but will try it out.
@@poisonapple28 I do one last pass all over on the cool setting after it's all dry. The difference in shine and smoothness is really surprising.
I just came to the same conclusion! 😊
thank you!!
My hair is healthier now after. I let the hair air dry about 70% and I don't have to use a flat iron anymore
Heat Protectant Spray/serum on wet hair. Always use a cool setting over dry hair to add smoothness and take away frizz
I love it. I’ve had it for a year. Helps style my hair so much faster. I use all olaplex products and just got the leave in on Sephora online.
I think I am going to purchase the step 6 today!
@@RisaDoesMakeup
Hello Risa, are you using no. 6 within this process with the Revlon or when you are just air dry
Yes! My hair was breaking off after I used this for a few months. I’ve been too scared to try it again but maybe I will now with your tips.
Go to Sephora and get the Olaplex 4 and 5 ASAP! It completely changed my hair in a few washes/conditions. I also recommend the Briogeo Rosarco blow dry protectant. Amazing.
Mine too!!! My hair is breaking off and is really thin. I am going back to my normal dryer
Mine too
Did you use the cool setting or the low setting?
I hate this tool. It’s so dangerous and damaging for your hair.
It completely ruined my hair too
My GF loves this tool and her hair has started growing again after many many years.... Love it!
Ty
This happened to mine as well
I actually feel my hair has looked less damaged since I began using this dryer.
Four years later I'm searching for this video.... thanks Risa I can always count on you!
I've used mine a few times now and love it! I let my hair air dry to damp and then spray with heat protectant. Think I'm ok.
Did u use it on wet hair?
@@rania3985 Yes I did. Soaking wet lol I was suppose to let it dry a little before blow drying it.
I have thick curly hair and I always use the low setting works fine. I also use it on my daughter with thick waist length hair on the low setting and it works great.
You’re so lucky! I can’t get any smoothness at all on the low setting 😔
I do have this hairdryer and I love it! I always do condition and I use a oil also and so far no problems. I use the dryer 2 times a week. Thanks 🙏
It's not that it damages my hair, but the bore bristles pulled half my hair out lol.
This tool is best to use when your hair damp or almost dry. Start on low and finish on cool.
I air dry my hair 3/4 way then used the revlon no damage here
I recommend Olaplex 6 and 7, as well as 4 and 5.
So I got this including tax/delivery for under $37.00.
i got this hair dryer after i saw your demo video and i love it. my hair has never looked better. thank you for reviewing it
Yay! I am so happy to hear that Brenda!
Aw, thank you Michelle!! 😊💕
I love my Revlon dryer! I haven't noticed any damage, but was already doing most of these tips. I might add in hair oil for the ends!
Carol Rebecca Reiss is there a medium setting? Mine has high and low, only two different settins.
Mine doesn’t have a medium setting, just low and high.
Thank you Carol! Are you using the Revlon? This one doesn’t have a medium setting unfortunately. 😕
I am so glad this video popped up. I bought this on Black Friday 2019 (yesterday) Ulta had it for $39. Great tips!
Pamea Hallisey it is 38.99 at Target
I also bought it @ Ulta on Black Friday for $39.99 - sadly our town doesn’t have a Target!
Pamea Hallisey bought one too on blk Friday from amazon for 37.00 for my mom, hope she likes it
Berviffy I’ve used mine twice now and am loving it! So quick and looks like I just had my hair done at the salon!
Let your hair air dry 75% before you use this or use a blow dryer on low heat until it’s 75% then use this
I use a heat protector and I have no damage here
I love this blow dryer
several tips for this dryer using some kind of heat resisting or oil to protect the hair would be good.
I use it to dry my hair and then I put in some rollers, I also do a lot of treatments and masks for my hair
Important video! Thank you Risa!! I use it on low. Wish it had heat and fan speed settings instead of combining them!
Hi thanks , but I give the revlon a big ….F because it totally damaged terribly.
Hi! Did you finally purchase the Revlon? If so, do you like it?
I have SUPER thick curly hair. I let my hair dry 💯. Then use the styler. Takes me 20 minutes. Dryer hair, not really damp, is the key.
I love this thing! But I do use it on low and then cool setting. Hot is a little much for my fine hair.
I have had mine for months and use the low setting while finishing with the cool setting. I love this tool!
Oh my gosh I feel exactly the same way about this tool as you! It’s been a total game changer for me and I can get salon like hair - never been able to that in my life! 🥰👍😍
I only wash my hair once/week or maybe twice and I too have struggled with damaged dry hair and it’s just been getting healthy again in the last 6 months. I haven’t noticed any damage and was just at my hair salon on Saturday and we talk about my hair health every visit and my stylist said my hair was nice and healthy. I do actually practice pretty much all of these tips so I think for sure they help!
And HUGE thank you for introducing me to these fabulous styling tool!

i just bought one yesterday, i love it but I don't want to burn my hair
I love my Revlon dryer but I've too noticed my hair seems a bit more brittle on the ends.
I was about to return mine before your video- my hair was so frizzy with the One Step! Hopefully I can get it to work with these tips.

Personally I like to switch it to cool when I notice the tool is getting too hot!
I love it so much I'm getting a backup dryer!!! xo Cindi
That is a great idea! What oil do you use?
Nole Girl Hi, I use100% organic jojoba oil. It really moisturizes. I put it all over in the an if I’m not showering right away😊
How do you clean the brush?
I need the high heat! I love this brush!!!!
Thanks.

Glad you made this video. That tool damaged my hair so much!
Did your hair break?
The hot was too much for my fine hair.

i think u should use more oils and stuff to build a covering layer with argan oil, protect heat something, leave in conditioner and ect. Idk if it works but DONT TRY IT BEFORE RESEARCH IM JUST A KID LOL
yah buy argan oil will get it straight faster and silkier/smoother/smells Wonder btw
Does your guys brush overheat? Mine overheats and takes a while to go on on again, right now it's taking forever to go back on?
How do you keep your hair styled overnight? I always wake up to a mess.
I sleep in pin curls and a silk bonnet. I look like a right muppet, but my blow dry lasts!
Silk pillowcase helps
