What makes that scene hilarious is Ford's body language and expression lol. I guess the sickness helped him here. He really seemed like a dude who was fed up with the shit and was like 'fuck it Imma just rekt this guy'
I remember seeing that at the Village Cinema way back in 1981. I remember the scene when he pulled out his gun & shot the Tunisian fellow with the swords, because the cinema audiences reaction was phenomenal ❕Everyone in the audience laughed in surprise, not expecting that to happen❗
Yeah, heard about that years ago. My all time favorite movie with my all time favorite actor. I've seen it so many times I can recite the whole movie as it is playing. Kind of annoying to others. LOL
I'm only 19 but Indian Jones has always been my favorite since 4th grade I always wanted to be just like him my parents didn't agree so much after I got kicked out of school for fighting
I was once told that sometimes, it's just the one with authority willing to listen to or care about those around him. Steven could have forced Ford to just carry out the fight, but he knew Ford was sick, so he made his job easier. Guess what? Everyine loved the scene, and I bet if Harrison was still forced to do the sword fight, Indiana Jones would be nowhere as it is today. So the next time you take charge, listen or be thoughtful to those who work with you, and there is a chance it could turn out more successful than you wanted. Also, sometimes bad things happen for good reasons (if Ford wasn't sick, he certainly would not have done the scene like that, since Spielberg would have no reason to change the script).

Only ET have the backstory of the scene etc etc..... *LOOOOOOOL* everyone has known that story since...oh..well....1983......so change the speak to: *ONLY ET IS 37 YEARS BEHIND THE REST OF THE WORLD*
Sorry to pop your bubble, and the bubbles of Lucas and Spielberg, but this is a bit stolen from Benny Hill. Benny Hill did it first, and Indiana copied it move by move. Shame on them from stealing it from a famous comedian and taking credit for it. All filmmakers in the 70's knew who Benny Hill was.
The fact that Spielberg scoured the country for the best swordsman makes the scene so much funnier
What's even better was he apparently searched THE WORLD.
@@MythicSuns And only for the swordsman character to get shot after doing sword handling.
Imagin training for the big day to only be told “ yeah you’re just gonna get shot”
It’d be an honor no lie lol
at least for me, cuz it would just be Han Solo shooting me
He already did train every day anyway I bet.

Oh he was fed up with _the shit_ alright
I remember seeing this at the theater and people went crazy cheering and laughing. Defining moment for sure. So funny how these things happen
The best part is the way he turns around like nothing even happened after shooting the guy
As said in "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" "when you have to shoot, shoot don't talk"
We get cheated out of a boss fight but it just makes so much sense its hilarious.
Amazing. He shoots the guy and seems like he immediately looks around for the nearest porta potty

0:31 Makes me feel like a kid again!
Nice. I've heard that story a handful of times.
Incredible Cast and Crew of The Indiana Jones Franchise
Yea specially when He was wiping all the Brown people! ha ha ha ..oh wait you thought it was all game and not a slave driver compilation?
Saw this when it came out and the biggest laugh was arguably that scene. That's how you subvert expectation properly.

JPT. Temple of Doom isn't a sequel., it's set before Raiders.
Wtf are you smoking bub?
@@gazbert88 Its true, it takes place one year before raiders. Look it up.
@@gazbert88 temple of doom is in 1935 and raiders are in 1936
I thought everyone knew this! It was like the first time the word “prequel” came up.. and everyone was like “prequel.. hehehe he said prequel”
@@gazbert88 it’s true
Harrison con l'agilita' di una tigre, l'uomo adatto per questo film e per tutti gli altri.
I loved that movie you should do a new version of it with Harrison Ford older somehow 😁
I heard that's in the planning. Hope it happens.
@@PMMcDaniel Ehhh... I don’t know. I mean Kingdom of the Crystal Skull wasn’t exactly the best.
@@JackFoxtrotEDM It wasn't bad tho
happening now lol
Ahh the good old days when movies were just made to be enjoyed.
Before the dark times.
Before "Twitter".
The Temple of Doom sequence also had a call back to Star Wars Episode 4
Indy shot first.
It's not a "reveal" when we've known about this for FUCKING YEARS.
Raiders was a perfect movie. Perfek!
Is* 😉
A perfect demonstration of the impracticalibley of bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Heard this story years ago. What the hell is ET on about!!??
Arrison fantastico con Spilberg e Melissa molto carina....
Harrison got this idea ( Sword vs Gun ) because he is a real Indiana Jones and Indy should think so......
2:32 actually a prequel
The unintended most realistic what really happens when you bring a sword to a gun flight

Anyone know where's the Steven Spielberg taken from? I'd love to see the full version. The Harrison Ford one too.
You mean “prequel”
There's a man cutting meat in the background and the swordsman was supposed to swing at Indiana jones, miss and cut the meat and the man thanks him.
Harrison Ford always shoots first.
Steven grande HArrison attore meraviglioso, Melissa giovane e carina oltre che intelligente.Alida.
What do you mean this is inside info only you know about? Isn't this common behind the scenes knowledge?
Because of work cover australia the famous bus scene wasn't ment to be when it was filmed
Harrison Ford te amo.Sahiris
They said it was a callback in Temple Of Doom, but that was a prequel set in 1935...🤔😂
I think he was just hungover
Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side
Watch the shot carefully. After the sword falls to the ground someone picks it up and runs away with it.

The Arab swordsman was my dad. Way to go pop

I hate hypocrisy, how can Lucas say that success is not financial ? Especially in movies ? Comeeee ooonnn !!!
I just hope no one had to be hospitalised afterwards. Dysentery is a bitch.
The scene's brilliant, though
