6:22 I recently asked my tutor in class if it wasn't possible to colour with the bucket on the colour layer and he explained the way that you said most people do it, and I just cant appreciate this video enough because im learning far more on it than i am in college in a year and a half
It's always good to study and sometimes even break the software you're planning to use - this way you can find many tiny features that can make your life easier :D
Can you further explain the basic character template, I know how you are creating it but i just would like to know what nodes are going into it? im following everything else but a lot of details are being missed here, otherwise a fantastic tutorial series.
The only nodes i really use are: LA - Lineart, CA - Colour Art, OL - Overlay Layer, UL - Underlay layer, AP - Auto Patch, Cut - Cutter, Vis - Visibility, XX - these are standard drawing nodes I named XX for easier renaming (X button sits under my left thumb) XX-P - This is standard peg named XX for easy renaming Character template is just a group with a composite at the bottom and master peg at the top (master is just a name but its actually a normal peg). On the right there's a drawing named shadow with an oval shape and it has a shadow node plugged underneath. Anything else would be for a very specific part of the build but most of the rig can be built just with these nodes. Hope that helps :D
i normally dont comment and hardly like videos, BUT I DID... 1 side note = please give a more SUITABLE TITLE to your videos SO THAT MORE PEOPLE WILL GET BENEFITS... (sorry for bad english) THANKS A LOT FOR SHARING PRECIOUS INFOs
Hi. First of all. GREAT tutorial. On 6:10 you show the "Create Colour Art from Line Art" button but as much as I searched, I can't find this button. Where is it? Thank you!
I'm trying to install the Find and Replace script, but the script editor gives me the error "Syntax is not valid: 4 : Illegal character" (it should be in the line var group = new GroupBox;). Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thank you for this video. Thou I couldn't access the script from the link you gave in the description. Seems it doesn't exist anymore. Please can I get it some other way?
How do you build this ''Template'' ? ''xx'' You got peg, drawing and everything but how do we do that ? Have been following you trough your previous videos, but i am stuck at this part.... Would really appreciate a bit help around this. Thx !
Hi, you can create template out of any selected nodes in the node view (or layers in the timeline). So for example I made a drawing node with a peg -> named them XX -> selected them -> pressed CTRL+C (copy) -> opened a library (in the library tab) -> Right clicked this library dolder and selected Right to Modify -> then i right mouse button clicked inside the folder and selected Paste (you can also do CTRL+V). After few seconds you should be prompted with option to name your template :) You can also read about it in the documentation docs.toonboom.com/help/harmony-20/premium/library/create-template.html :D Hope that helps
Sorry, as much as I would like to, I can’t share it. This series was not a typical tutorial, it was more about sharing my workflow so you can apply this knowledge to your characters.
i know this is harmony 17 but i've been struggiling on how to change the icon for the envelopecreate script because it's in the plugin resources folder instead of resources script folder. so basically it' doesn't show in my scripts manager (i'm on harmony 22)
Hmm, if the icon is named precisely like the function of the script minus the (), and is placed in the script-icons folder it should work. I named my icon EnvelopeCreator_showUI.png (case sensitive).
Thank u for the tutorials! They are super useful May u please tell me where to find the envelope scripts, these come with TB by default? I haven't found them :(
They are pre-built inside toonboom 17 and 20. Not sure if they exist in previous versions. At 7:36 in the video you can see full names of the scripts - icons are custom and made by me so you may have a cog sign next to them.
Hi, wow that's such a good tutorial! Thanks for your time!! I would like to know how did you customize those icons there as they are not in the script folder, instead they are on the plugin folder and I was trying to look into some .xml file inside EnvelopeCreator folder but I couldn't find the way to customize them. Could you help me out with it? Cheers!!!
I think what I did back there was to create png icons of proper small size, named them exactly as the scripts main functions and placed them together with other script icons in %Appdata% toonboom script folder. Hope that helps (but not 100% sure if thats what I did there, it was quite long ago)
@@juhastv Just did it and it worked perfectly! Thanks Juhas, you're videos are very accurate ! I'm a professional but still learning new stuff thanks to you ^^
Help me, please! I could install the Replace script (even change the icon), but the Pivot one couldn't . Which Harmony version are you using? I've v20, maybe could that be the issue. I did import the file ,running the script editor Then verify it (syntax is valid). Then toolbar scripting, then open Manage scripts to add it to the taskbar, & here everything goes wrong. It says: CF_CopyPastePivots.ui file not found. But the file is there!!!!! Any ideas> Thanks in advance
The CF_CopyPastePivots_1.0.1.js file should sit in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Toon Boom Animation\Toon Boom Harmony Premium\2000-scripts and the CF_CopyPastePivots.ui file sits even deeper in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Toon Boom Animation\Toon Boom Harmony Premium\2000-scripts\CF_CopyPastePivots-Resources\v.1.0.1 (taken you use windows) It looks like it's looking for the UI file that should sit inside a folder that's inside the 2000-scripts. The UI file is responsible for the actual layout of the script window where the JS file is the logic of the script. There's really not much more to it that I can think of :O And it works for me in TB20 :(
@@juhastv I made it. I don't know why the system replicate one folder two times (the last one). So I delete it and copy/paste the file and voilà! Now I'm ready to follow your tuts. Keep on rocking, man!
i find this tutorial very helpful. i have noticed that your workspace has up to six windows - how did you manage to customize that? It is also possible to customize the interface to look smaller, for instance your tools toolbar just consumes half way at the right of your window while mine consumes the whole area down to my screen. what is the solution please. thanks
I used 1920x1080 screen so if you're using smaller resolution - stuff could appear bigger for you. Also you can customise your workspace by dragging the tabs into different windows (like camera/library/colours tabs etc)
@@juhastv thanks alot. i understand better now. i am hoping to see more of your great works. your skills are good i must say. thanks for the free tutorials.
Thanks your tutorial, I study in korea, and i have some question.. In customize, scripts are displayed as Gear icon, How can i change your icon like "E+C"(envelopecreator_~.js)? it still works but Im just wondering!
Hey :D You can change and customise icons through Manage Scripts button docs.toonboom.com/help/harmony-17/essentials/reference/dialog-box/scripts-manager-dialog-box.html Hope that helps
1. Select the node or layer for which you want to create a deformation chain. 2. In the top menu, select Animation > Envelope Creator > Create Envelope. The Envelope Creator dialog appears.
@@leswelnerfilms9238 Hi again, So it is possible and here is the way to proceed : First you have to create the new shrtcut. Go to Harmony installation folder/ resources and open the "shortcut.xml" file in a text editor. At the bottom of the General shortcut section (around line 262) create a new shortcut by writing : (open new tag)shortcut checkable="false" id="SELECT_ENVELOPE" longDesc="Select envelopeTool" slot="onActionChooseEnvelopeTool()" text="Select envelopeTool" value=""(close the tag) Note that the ID you give to your new shortcut must be unique, put whatever you want as the long descrition and the text. The slot must be this action : "onActionChooseEnvelopeTool()", and then give an empty value ( just two double quotes). Save the file and open Harmony. Go to Preferences/ shortcut, and in the general tab you should see your new shortcut (should have the same name as the description you gave). Now just assign a hotkey to it, and it should work like a charm.
