This was actually very useful and easy to understand. There are a lot of people who get way into detail about the interface and it gets confusing, this is much simpler and what I’m looking for in my edits, thank you and the method to let the audio only run a bit to pick up the noise with no voice is actually a great trick thanks again.
noise reduction is actually so useful, so many environments have at least some level of noise you would want to get rid of and this would help so much in a lot of scenarios!
If you can't find the "effect" maybe you are in "edit tab / page". Make sure you switch to fairlight tab first (tab with music note icon at the bottom of davinci resolve)
I came here for noise reduction training in Resolve, at the all sudden I fell in love with your presence, what an amazing voice and personality. Sorry I have to go to another channel to learn about Resolve, your personality is taking me away from studying ...x
Thank you for this, very insightful ( just to mention , using DR 18 beta 5 , the + button opens menu , hover over Restoration & you'll find Noise Reduction )
You are a lifesaver, my heater kicked on during my recording and caused this horrible ringing sound. I didn't know that you can let the audio play and learn the "ringing" sound to remove it. Thank you so much!
Not only did you show how to use the noise reduction Reduction Feature but you also showed the basics on audio editing. Thanks a ton. This Really helped my Editing for the future. Cheers
Thank you! Manual worked so much better removing the aircon radiator background noise. I almost want to say in my videos "Sorry, I live in a space ship"
Hi, while this seems very useful and easy, did some steps missing/not explained? What happen after the slider reach the end of the room tone? it stops itself, or what. Sorry maybe this is a silly question, but, my slider keep running, while yours stopped and the learn button turned into grey again. But in my case, it still runs throughout my timeline while the learn button is turn red continously. When I stop it manually, and play again from the beginning, no difference at all. Thanks if you can shed some lights on this.
Firstly, I just want to say thank you so much!! In the newest version of DaVinci Resolve it's under the 'Restoration' header when you enter the Effects tab.
I am so glad I found this video! I did my first voice over for a video and my cheap microphone picked up on my computer humming. Other videos were using voice isolation which is behind a 300 dollar pay wall. This is a life savern
Is noise reduction only in the Studio version? I am using v17 and I cannot find noise reduction on the right side under effects but I can find it on the left side. Actually I can find noise reduction under Effects/Restoration/Noise reduction.
My wireless mic system **ALWAYS** has a "hiss" to its audio (annoying!) I've tried equalizer and de-essing and have not been satisfied with the result. This works slick! A new tool in my tool belt, for sure! Thank you! Color correction question - I have a LARGE multicam project consisting of many clips from three cameras. I noticed in post that the color space for the three cameras is very different. This difference kind of "hits you in the face" when I change from one angle to another. Is there any way to kind of globally color correct individual cameras in a multicam project? I've tried selecting using a "Smart filter" in the color tab, but nothing seems to select a specific camera. Right now I am stuck with individually selecting them and then copy the color grading from a previously color graded shot....painfully manual and fraught with the possibility of missing something (especially with the slice and dice I have to do to get rid of my guests long pauses and "ums")
2:40 I could not find "Noise Reduction" - I believe newer versions of Davinci Resolve has in it in the section "Restoration" then "Fairlight FX" then "Noise Reduction".
I must be doing something wrong, i tried everything in multiple ways. But nothing changes, i hear no difference, i dont know if it learned the noise but it seems as nothing happens when i turn things up or down. Stays the same
Thank you for the awesome tutorial! Still learning DaVinci Resolve 17 free version. Audio is super big in my niche, but it's been so intimidating! Thank you for making it easy to understand and a lot less intimidating!
Hi!! Question is the sample noise at the end of her video supposed to be when you are FULLY done recording you’re video or at the very beginning after getting in a couple words in video?
Question: If your guest has a wired headset from their phone and it rubs on the clothes or their hand as they adjust it often, it creates a crackling sound. How do I remove it? It's not isolated, it's embedded in their talking audio. Thank you
Hi! Yes I sometime drink sparkling water, but I drink a lot of Coca-Cola most of the time (I know it's bad, but I think I'm kind of addicted to it ) This method to remove background noise is magic ^^ I don't use Davinci but it's always great to know how to do I'm not sure I can use noise reduction since my vids are next (on top?) of a loud engine 😅 Maybe I should try someday an external sound recorder to see if I can set it up to record only ( or mostly) my voice 🤔 All your (you and Mel-Will) tutorials are great and well explained, so I'll take any advice from your channel (color - sound - camera settings - skateboard 😉 ) Peace ✌
Maybe I missed it but do you just hit learn and then Davinci automatically does it? Or do you have to hit enter? I moved the play head to where I wanted it, hit learn, then stopped the play head at a certain spot so it got the range of background audio I wanted. But then nothing happens. Any ideas?
Do you have a tutorial on how to restore and reduce noise on old footage? But with the "free" version of davinci resolve (not studio) ? Great tutorial , bythe way (:
Have not gone through all the comments but is there a way to ''copy'' the noise detected and apply it to other clips without having to go through the same process all over again and again? Thanks.
Just above the switch that turns the effect on and off, next to the preset drop-down, is a + button. Click that and you can save it as a preset, then apply the effect to the other clips and choose that preset from the list.
This is pretty cool, thanks! Unfortunately neither of the methods did an amazing job for me :( It would be life changing if I could get the result you got!! I'll add some background music and it should be fine :)
I'm still super confused. I didn't notice too much a difference either way but not sure if there is too much background noise throughout my entire audio that it would be challenging to remove
I'm new at this and haven't quite got to doing hands on as I'm watching a few things first. Can you save the sample of the noise you want to remove from the background and use it to clean up other audio? In my case I have a cheap mike and there is a lot of crackling in the background. Going to be a major mission to keep having a sample of dead silence at the end of every snippet. Been dyslexic, trying to read out a story means I have to make my reads very short and do them multipil times before I kind of get it right. Thought of trying to turn my books I'm writing into Audio books instead of written ones. Editing the written stuff is a nightmare. The cleaner the audio with less fuss the easier for everyone.

Thank you. You're a life saver. I thought there is no Nouse reduction in the free version at first.

Appreciate your comment, glad it was helpful!!
Thanks. I've been dragging the Noise removal instead of clicking it from the mixer. This is enlightening
Thank you! Manual worked so much better removing the aircon radiator background noise. I almost want to say in my videos "Sorry, I live in a space ship"
I had some humming in the background and I used the auto noise reduction. It was superb! Thanks!
Glad it helped!
I am NOTORIOUSLY awful at technology so this tutorial was really helpful. I'll be using this feature a ton in the future!
Thanks for making this tutorial, it saved me a lot of time. The Learning mode works better for my podcast.

wish she would answer this
Pretty sure you have to manually stop it as I assume similar to mine in that you have your blank noise at the beginning not end of the clip right?
Yeah same thing happens to me too. Can’t seem to get it to work
I have the same issue,my slider keep running and the noise reduction effects is applying to all the clips from the timeline
Firstly, I just want to say thank you so much!!
In the newest version of DaVinci Resolve it's under the 'Restoration' header when you enter the Effects tab.
dang you are really good at both talking to the camera and editing.. makes me wanna subscribe
Appreciate you! 🙏

Glad I could help!
For DaVinci Resolve 18 I went to Effects + > Restoration > Noise Reduction
Amazing video. I was very curious how to do that in DaVinci Resolve. Much appreciated.
Glad it was helpful! Appreciate the comment!!
Worked so well, Thanks!
I suppose my voice and wave noise are too close for Davinci Resolve to tell what is what. It seemed to make the waves louder and my voice quieter! XD
Is noise reduction only in the Studio version? I am using v17 and I cannot find noise reduction on the right side under effects but I can find it on the left side.
Actually I can find noise reduction under Effects/Restoration/Noise reduction.
Thank you, this helped me, I was about to have a tantrum why I don't see noise reduction in 18.1
This helped so much for version 18 thanks
Wow, Davinci Magic really is magic!
Great tip! Many thanks.
You’re welcome!
Okay, that was exactly what I needed!! Great video thank you!
awesome video, straight to the point!
Awesome! Did a great job at removing some unwanted background noise of my grandma singing at the hospital.
My wireless mic system **ALWAYS** has a "hiss" to its audio (annoying!) I've tried equalizer and de-essing and have not been satisfied with the result. This works slick! A new tool in my tool belt, for sure! Thank you!

Thank you so much. This was such a simple fix yet extremely helpful!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!....excellent simple tutorial!!

And thank you for the very concise useful video!
Yes to audio tutorials 🙂
Ok 👌
Thanks very much, this helped me greatly. I would like to learn more for colour correction in Davinci.
I'm still getting used to Davinci's tools so this is a huge help!
Thank you for the tutorial!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
That's good tutorial!
Thanks!!
Thank you, definitely helpful for me. Been using Davinci Resolve for the last 2 months and am still learning the best ways to edit video and audio.
Thank you, this really help improve the audio Quality 👌
I must be doing something wrong, i tried everything in multiple ways. But nothing changes, i hear no difference, i dont know if it learned the noise but it seems as nothing happens when i turn things up or down. Stays the same
Super helpful. Thank you

is there any way to access it through the top menu? the mixer panel wont expand for me. Can't see the tabs to get to the "effects" tab.
tahnk you so much for the video love form India

This method to remove background noise is magic ^^
I don't use Davinci but it's always great to know how to do
I'm not sure I can use noise reduction since my vids are next (on top?) of a loud engine 😅
Maybe I should try someday an external sound recorder to see if I can set it up to record only ( or mostly) my voice 🤔

Hehe 🙃 that’s true! It’s always good to know different ways of fixing things!!
Ok fine! Skateboarding tutorials coming up 😜
@@AlliandWill Yeah let's go for sk8 tutorials ! 😁
This helped alot thank you!
You’re welcome!
great video!
Thanks!!
Great Tutorial. Easy to understand and easy to watch.
Appreciate the comment!
Awesome. Thanks!
No prob!
Thanks legend!!! Very quick and clear tutorial!!! Keep it up!!!!
Thank you so much! It's so cool how easy it is
Go to Effects click on + and under Restoration you will find Noise Reduction.
Maybe I missed it but do you just hit learn and then Davinci automatically does it? Or do you have to hit enter? I moved the play head to where I wanted it, hit learn, then stopped the play head at a certain spot so it got the range of background audio I wanted. But then nothing happens. Any ideas?
Seems like something to be done before cutting the film up. Do you know if you can fix one clip then copy and paste attributes to the others?
Hey how do I do the opposite? I’ve been trying to get a small portion of where a voice is heard but I just want the music
that was great and helpful thankyou
Appreciate the comment!!
I don't see the effects tab in the mixer. Is it available on the free version?
Quick, concise, helpful and useful.
Thank you for your service
Thanks! Still helpful in 2024.
So if I have multiple audio,is it means, I'll did these for each clip .. ?!
Thank you so much! Needed this for my school project!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much!
Thanks you've been great!
That's gonna solve a lot of problems. Thanks.
No prob!
noise reduction is now located under restoration -> noise reduction.
thank youuu!
Do you have a tutorial on how to restore and reduce noise on old footage? But with the "free" version of davinci resolve (not studio) ? Great tutorial , bythe way (:
Not exactly, but we have other tutorials that may help on the topic
Have not gone through all the comments but is there a way to ''copy'' the noise detected and apply it to other clips without having to go through the same process all over again and again? Thanks.
Just above the switch that turns the effect on and off, next to the preset drop-down, is a + button. Click that and you can save it as a preset, then apply the effect to the other clips and choose that preset from the list.
@@bullettin huge thanks. Really appreciated.
Thanks for the video!
Is it possible to remove baby crying in the background of people talking?
This is pretty cool, thanks! Unfortunately neither of the methods did an amazing job for me :( It would be life changing if I could get the result you got!! I'll add some background music and it should be fine :)
Ya unfortunately it highly depends on the source audio. Sometimes it does a perfect job, and other times it doesn’t really work all that well
thank you! you save my video!
Спасибо ))! Полезная информация
Do you ever give anyone advice or a little help if they have an issue with audio?
I'm still super confused. I didn't notice too much a difference either way but not sure if there is too much background noise throughout my entire audio that it would be challenging to remove
This is very useful Thanks a lot
Hello i CANT acces the effects little tab how can I solve this
Hi...Alli. Your Desktop Setup And Table is amazing. I would like to make the same for me..would you please send the full image of this table

so sweet teacher :) thx for teaching good and use full (thx dear god)
There is no noise reduction tab and when I click "Learn" it doesn't do that
