Hang in there, Cat. we all have set backs. I recently had my entire bank account depleted by a scammer calling from what looked like my banks number. Long story but because I had their app on my phone it was hacked and they made it look like authorized a payment for my entire balance to a stranger. They decided the couldn't prove it was a scam so I am out over$1000😢 so until I recover I'll only be able to stuff small amounts. Some is better than none. We will get through these trials ❤
Oh Cat!! I'm so sorry about that! You are so beautiful inside that it hurts when you hurt! You have motivated us to the point where we are finally doing the best we have in years!
Happy day! Paying off credit 💳#1! Your house payment went up $300! Crazy! Sometimes life is 1 step forward then 2 steps back. Good thing we have been through enough to believe in ourselves and our ability to get through hard things. You can do this!
Ugh so sorry about the escrow increase. It feels like everything has gotten so much more expensive right now. Just going to the grocery store is like 😮But way to go on Credit card #1. That’s great progress
@@budgetwithcat8207 Slowly working on it. Actually, today I posted my first cash-stuffing video. Feeling very nervous about it! Thank you for always mentioning me in your videos.
Cat my love you don't worry about how everything will work out for when we pray all things fall into place. You are already making it work just by doing lil by lil and that will bring you a great return/out come.
Oh darlin I’m sorry to hear about your mortgage! But always remember, which helps me, God never gives you more than you can bear. I’m sure something good will happen soon to counterbalance that extra. Just hang in there 🌼🌸
Fluctuating escrow really messed me up when I first bought my house. I had never had to worry about these things before. For me it was the cost of my home owner’s insurance that skyrocketed after the first year. Fortunately I was able to change insurance companies and get it back down to a reasonable amount. Now I’m usually no more than $100 either way.
I had that problem with escrow shortage, so every month I send extra to my principal and escrow, just in case escrow comes back short I won't have to pay so much to keep it at same monthly house payment. I feel you. But another way is to make an envelope like you said. Your doing great 👍 keep up the good work
Ughhhh Kat sorry to hear your mortgage is going up....However this is LIFE & we all gotta ADJUST our finances....Thankfully with cash stuffing we're able to move thing's around to accommodate our need's....Great stuffing...Keep going....We GOT THIS 😊 😊😊...XoxoxoX
Times are crazy Cat. As a realtor, I am seeing people putting big listing prices on their homes and buyers are paying the asking prices. It is crazy since the interest rates are going up. Where I live, homes are lower in value than like some of the bigger states. I am wondering if we are going to reach those higher home values. It is good for realtors but it is causing taxes to go up as well. Income is not rising to meet this.
Just a thought - but you can double or even triple you savings with the movie/date night challenge. When you have all circles colored in, you could color the container and add another $5 for each container. Then do the same with the drink! You could even do the popcorn separately or include it to the container. :)
My house payment did the same thing. That is the one thing I definitely couldn’t afford. My problem is I just bought my house four years ago, and I’m 64 years old. My house will never be paid for, not by me. When I pass, it will be transferred to my daughter, and she will have a house and a mortgage without having to qualify. Both a good thing and a bad thing. You’ve got this.!
Hello Cat! Have a wonderful week! Yay to paying off a credit card! That is too bad about your Property Taxes going up! We pay pretty high taxes for our area too and it is depressing. Sending hugs!
Great job Cat 🎉 Sorry to hear about the escrow. Times are crazy right now 😔 U hit them all 👏🏻 I’ve been doing your envelopes by denominations of 5’s, and I’m really enjoying it
Thank you so much!! That is amazing! I appreciate your kind words and support! We are all having to adjust to things being more expensive these days!💗💗
Awesome job paying off that card! 💜 that is really frustrating about mortgage tjough 🙁 you have the budgeting skills you need to make it happen I believe you will get through this!
Is that $300 increase per month? I’m in Canada and our mortgage amount is set by interest rate and amortization length. We don’t have escrow, thank goodness. My mortgage, for instance is at 1.79% for 5 years, and we pay taxes separate from mortgage. Our mortgage will be paid off by end of October - finally! Maybe you need to get your adult children to pay their own insurance, that would help. Good luck!
Hey Tracy! Wow! Your interest rate is amazing! Yeah- in the US our taxes are high. And if it is tied to your mortgage payment, it can get quite high. I could pay it separate as well…💗💗
I don't know if this will work for you or not. You may need to crunch some numbers before you make a decision. But way back in the early years when I was paying on my mortgage, I got the mortgage company to stop taking out the escrow for my taxes and insurance, etc. I still had to pay these things on my own. But now instead of making those payments tied into my mortgage payment, I socked away the money for those things in my own sinking fund that I put into a high yield savings account. I divided the amounts owed by paycheck and rounded it up- adding a little extra when I could. When the taxes or insurance would come due- I had the money and it didn't affect me making my mortgage payment each month or cause as much anxiety. Plus I got a little interest for having the money sitting in that account. This was many years ago, so I don't remember if the conversation with the mortgage company went smoothly or not. I have a vague memory of them being all "No biggie!" when I asked them not to take the escrow out anymore. Again, you have to hold yourself accountable to make the tax and insurance payments on your own when they come due- But as long as you're saving for them each month/ paycheck you have the money available when the time comes. My deepest regret in using this method it that I did not have cute envelopes and planners to stuff these payments into. I wish the Budget Community had been a thing back then!
Such a good idea! I’ve don’t this in the past, so I might consider it. It’s just hard because of the accountability piece. 😮😮 I might consider doing it.💗💗
@@budgetwithcat8207 True, but if you make an envelope or a space in your budget for the taxes and insurance, you are automatically holding yourself accountable, or at least reminding yourself that this is a thing you have to save for. What I've done for years is have the allotment for these sinking funds direct deposited into a separate account other than my main checking account. I don't have as much risk of spending that money on something else because it's out of sight out of mind. When the taxes or insurance comes due, I pay for them out of that account. Not having the stress of the mortgage payment suddenly jumping up on me or struggling to scrape up the funds when the taxes come due is a good place to be!
I think the way my parents paid was so much better. Insurance separate, property taxes separate, and mortgage separate. Some homeowners do have it separate. The majority…no. It would help so much.
Eek. That escrow is scary. Have you checked your home insurance to see if you can bring that down? (My taxes will be going up, so I know my escrow will need to increase, but not by as much as yours. Ouch. That sounds painful.)
I hate to hear that about your mortgage. I'm praying that your pay from youtube will increase, your Etsy purchases will pick up, & that more opportunities for tutoring will come up & that extra for the mortgage can easily be covered. I just got hit with the news that my husband has a class he must attend Monday through Friday of next week which means there will be 4 days that he won't be working at his part time job & the fire department will not pay them for having to go into this class on their off days which takes away from our finances. I'm trying not to stress about it. If not for this cash budgeting lifestyle, we would be drowning from that kind of hit to his pay.
Oh wow! That’s so stressful! I hope you survived this! I’m praying for God or the universe to provide what you need to get through this tough time. Take care! 💗💗
Things like that make me want to give up budgeting but in my experience that’s when budgeting is so important. U got this!
So true! It’s really made me look at my spending and figure out where I can make up for it!💗💗

Awesome job on paying off that debt. I understand your frustration about the increase in property tax.
Thank you! Yeah…the increase in my mortgage has really hurt my budget. I’m having to rethink some things!💗💗
I’m sorry to hear about your mortgage increase. I know it feels like one step forward and three back and that’s so frustrating.

The escrow flex got me last year as my property tax went up as well. Just under $200 increase. Hang in there.
