Expert Guide: Factory Fitting a Sliding Door Window! Part 1

I found the cheapest VW T4 I could find and purchased it.
Today I show how to prepare the sliding door for a side window to be fitted, by cutting out the metal, removing sealer/panel bond, and tacking the outer skin to the inner.

Mate that's more than surface rust. All those black patches and tiny pin prick holes are rot that will come right back, regardless of which product you choose to cover it with. Quicker in the long run to cut it out and weld in new; ensuring you fabricators in holes to squirm epoxy primer, followed by wax oil into the voids......then still no guarantee you got it all. New metal has to be treated after welding, on both sides or it rusts right through again.
There are plenty of folks turning out shite that looks the nuts when it's fresh ....but a couple of years on!
