I am very proud of him as he was an amazing man!!! An article was written about him in the Vancouver Sun as a cop and was called " the last of the good"

It was literally life changing! Now we tell all our friends in Victoria about how great surfing in Tofino is and how much we enjoy Port Renfrew and all the stops in between.
I went to visit my Friend in Victoria for the first time this spring. I loved it so much I took my girlfriend there 2 weeks later. Been missing it so much ever since!

I live on Vancouver Island and these are some are some of my favourite places to visit.East Sooke Park is a really nice park with petroglyphs and it has a great easy day hike to a place called Cabin Point. Quadra Island is also a nice place to visit with good lakes, hikes, and camping. And Englishmen River Falls is are really good place to swim and hike.

the botanical gardens just outside victoria are a MUST SEE honestly they are so amazing!!! also Lynn canyon park is great if your staying in Vancouver for any length of time and want to get outdoors a bit!

Relax folks...this was a nice portrait video of a decent potion of the Island accesable for a short trip...I also prefer the North Island but it could take a lifetime to explore the whole rock...Greg from Duncan

If you ever make it back here to Vancouver Island, I recomend Strathcona Park hiking starting at Raven Lodge Mount Washington. It's a must see. Unbelievable.
we went to sandcut beach and followed the waterfalls up, after about 20 mins there is a large 15ft deep water pool, there’s a big tree across it with a rope swing too!
Apart from the abundant natural wonders and chill folks, the "big island" is the perfect place for a road trip. Due the the mild annual climate, the roads are amazing and even when you're in the middle of nowhere you can just cruise along for days and enjoy the incredible scenery without ever seeing a pothole. Same goes for the small islands like Salt Spring which is absolutely magical, and thanks to the extensive bird population has almost no bugs even in spring - coming from Ontario that alone is awesome :)
Stoked to see you featuring our island, but would like to clarify some things for visitors: 1) We are not a “relatively small island” unless comparing us to say, Australia. Vancouver Island is massive and this video shows only a teeny tiny portion of the very south western part of the island. There is SO, SO much more to explore. 2) That campsite that said it was in Sooke was most definitely not. That was Jordan River. An important place on our island in terms of surf history and worth the mention rather than being misnamed. 3) I love when people feature Port Renfrew but am always blown away when they don’t mention or feature either Pacheedaht Beach (rivals every beach in Tofino) or Avatar Grove (makes Cathedral Grove - featured in this video - look silly). Botanical is great but there is so, so much more to the region than those tide pools. 4) Cathedral Grove is a patch of land “donated” to us by MacMillan Bloedell (the logging company who decimated our entire island). Not so pretty when you see it that way. Avatar Grove however was protected by conservationists who fought hard to find and protect old growth on our island. 5) I don’t think the Goldstream trestle is “unsafe” and “old”. It hasn’t been that long since I rode the train over this trestle, and it’s super sturdy. If the train could carry itself and passengers only 8 years ago, I think it’s pretty strong for random people walking on the tracks... It’s great to see mainlanders visiting and featuring our beautiful island :) Don’t forget to reach out to locals for correct info and stories when travelling!
Is there another name for Pacheedaht beach? Can't find it on google maps - headed out that way next weekend. I was just on the goldstream trestle yesterday - I agree, it's not unsafe. You just have to watch your footing because there are gaps; as long as you don't trip and fall off the edge, you're fine

I'm planning a roadtrip in Febuary! Funnily enough, your itinerary is much the same as mine (i have a few extra stops planned for some hiking) and Tofino is on the maybe list for now depending if we wanna have the extra 3-4hours drive back onto our route. Would you recommend camping that time of year? While I know it doesn't get *too* cold, it's more the rain i'd be concerned about
i like how you presented your video, highlights and your great narrative! ps provide more details though such as how to get there esp the trails and landmarks, street names or signs to watch out for esp for ones not within the city. the more details on how to get there, the better. thanks!

Great cinematography- In our VI visit we also enjoyed the swimming pools on the road to Tofino. Also recommend Kinsol Trestle and Telegraph Cove.

The Kinsol Trestle is safer and able to connect hundreds of Kms on reclaimed train tracks turned bike trail from Lake Cowichan to Victoria

sooke potholes also has some amazing caves to explore too bring your snorkeling gear
Port Renfrew is not the end of the highway at all! From Sooke, you can pass Renfrew and go to Lake Cowichan, Duncan, and then the rest of the island.
