I know you hear this a lot, Daniel, but I really love watching these. Even for those who watch the games live with GM analysis, your videos add a lot of clarity.
Maybe Hexapus for a knight on the 7th. Enjoyed your previews and enjoying your great coverage of this tourney. Stay safe our national treasure GM King.
Thanks Daniel King! You have really established the benchmark for online chess analysis. And you deserve all the daily praise for your work and dedication. Btw, who gave you a thumbs down? A former opponent you trashed and hasn't recovered yet?
What an amazing game! I loved the middlegame positions with Fabi’s king completely stripped of pawns and the black king sitting behind three pawns, yet in the end the white king was quite safe and the black king got cut to shreds. Very well played by Caruana.
Without b9 and d9 squares added to the board, the knight on c7 is 3/4 octopus (maybe injured octopus?) or it represents another species - it could be called sixtopus ;)
Very surprised at Ding and Anish so far. You'd expect Alekseenko to be the punching bag - and Caruana quite correctly went for his throat - but not those guys.
Fabi, is such a great player. He's a nice guy too. His chess style is so calm and assured. Who would you say he plays like, Danny? Perhaps, Spassky? Smyslov?
Caruana missed a beautiful move: 26.Bf5! DecodeChess: Bf5 deflects the black pawn away from g6 and prevents Black from controlling h5: 26. Bf5 gxf5 27. Kf2 and Black cannot play 27... Ra8? because after 28. Rh1 h5 29. Qxh5
Hi GM Daniel, I know it has nothing to do with the Candidates tournament, but I would like to ask which version of ChessBase you are using for the analysis. In my ChessBase 15 I can no longer mark the square with green or red colors like yours, do you have any configuration that makes it possible or is it a previous version? Thanks for the content, great as always after every round.
With CB15 you cannot do it. It happens to me too. I think the interface used for the video of Mr. King is a non retail add-on of chessbase, made purposely for trainer video lessons.
Probably the only one who has any chance of beating match savvy carlsen and then only if he steals a point in the classical draw fest - no chance in rapid or blitz
I doubt Caruana will lose a game in this tournament, this version of Fabi is much stronger than the one who faced Carlsen in 2018. How Alekseenko made it to the candidates?
Dear Daniel, I like your videos but you are totally wrong. An octopus has eight arms, not six as the chap on c7 has. Figure of speech you say! Stuff and nonsense I say!

Technically, the c7 knight is a hexapus.
I think that was a James Bond novel😉
It lost 2 of its tentacles in Chess battles 😀
astute observation, there aren't no b9 or d9 fields :-)

you make the tournament more interesting , I thank you very much

Hexapus Haha
"short of time" may be an understatement :P
Really exciting game, thanks for the coverage. Incredible playing without king cover with so many pieces on board.
beautiful miniature from Caruana, thank you GM Daniel King for game coverage! Splendid explanations!
Crazy attacking chess from Caruana, self confidence at the top.

UA-cam comments section 101: "ignore the thumbs down". 😎

At 2:03, Mr. King mentions a game between Nakamura and Carlsen. Here's a link to that game:

Good coverage, you make it sound so easy, GM King. Get your money on Fabi, he's going to take some stopping.
This video has loads of beautiful stuff.
Very entertaining game. Thank you and I look forward to following rounds.
Namaste Danny !!

This is the best, chess channel and you make the best analysis. Thank you Danny for this excellent video.

this reminds me of that Anand game against Carlsen in the WC where he had a passed pawn early in the game

Great commentary, as always!
12:04 What if Qg6+ and Black takes the rook on e4?
Qg6+ Qg2 QxR Nf6+ wins the queen
Ya he probably should of mentioned this because white’s whole idea wouldn’t work without this tactic
All the Best Lord King
According to the engine, slightly better than 15...Re6 is ....Rb8 so if 16. Nc7 Re4 17. Bd3 Bxd6! 18. Bxe4 Qxc7 and Black has dynamic equality.
But maybe Aleksieenko after spending 36 minutes on move 15, saw all that and thought his move gave him better chances. Who knows.
Caruana missed a beautiful move: 26.Bf5!

Good game from fabi, god help us if he wins candidates again zzzzzzzz

You mean pressing alt and right click? Should work in chessbase 15, might look different than my recorded version.
@13:32 Qg3+ was missed. Thanks for the video!
Exchange and Ne7+. BOOM.
Thanks! And that's why you are the GM here.

Wild card. And since the Russians host the show, they wanted a Russian to be the wild card.
wildcard by russian chess federation

Caruana just needs to draw Ding with black tomorrow. This tournament is his to lose.
Anyone else stuck at home cause of the virus? Thankful chess right now
Alekseenko Kirill? More like Alekseenko Kirilled! Amirite?!
