Can't believe Enjoi is over. It's a sad time for skateboarding, but I'm remembering all the good times I had on many of your decks in many different street spots, pools, and parks in a few different countries over two decades or so. Fellas, ya done good. Thank you.👌❤️
One time I put some snow board bindings on a classic enjoi the white one with all different color plywood that just said enjoi, that thing got like 2 winters of ripping,it was scary and span easy lol, then my buddy broke his board one day so I gave it too him and he used it like all summer, pretty sure he jumped on it and did it in even, they were sweet, but the tale was real short lol one of my favorites second too a almost I had
The way Rodney speaks about skateboarding and the people involved in it enriches skating as much as his insane contributions on the board and behind the scenes. His charisma born of humility and the passion and depth of his words have helped romanticize the history of skateboarding in such an important way. It’s part of the mortar that has built and supported the modern approach, ambitions, and industry of skateboarding. Dude is one of a kind
Anti-hero kinda had that same vibe.. but more metal like... enjoi always seemed like the kids playing in the neighborhood, to me.. or the more colorful hippy types.. I was born 90, and that era will always stay with me! great times!
My first board was an MJ board. I knew Rodney was on and I dug art. 20 years later, I'm still loving the brand, looking for older decks, etc. They were the purest form of fun on four wheels, ever. Ever.
Stopped skating about 15 years ago for a few reasons. Used to exclusively ride enjoi because I was a huge Rodney fan as a kid. Riding their boards is how I discovered other legends like MJ and Louie Barletta. I stayed on enjoi boards even after Rodney left to start Almost because I just loved the whole image and philosophy of the brand. A few weeks ago I decided to get back on a board and went out to buy a new setup for the first time in 15 years. Made my inner kid so happy to see that not only was enjoi still around, but it was still the same as it was. Through all of the changes, they've remained true to Marc Johnson's original vision. Grabbed boards to try from a few different companies to try out this time but there will ALWAYS be a few enjoi decks in my stack.
Rodney Mullen did more for skateboarding than anyone ever. Modern Street skating started with his genius and the modern board shape which changed everything was him as well. I wish he got more credit for the ridiculous footprint he left forever on this sport. He's a legitimate genius.
I'm so sick of this discussion. Yeah, mullen invented "tricks", but Mark Gonzales invented modern street skating. Dude, when Mullen invented his little fliptricks, he was standing still. Can't do too many slides and grinds while standing still on flat ground.
Do you know fucking iconic A-team was to us as teenagers? If you had an A-team board you were the shit. The quality was superior to even boards today! They were so perfect and the team was amazing, The shirts the stickers! and to hear Marc Johnson bitch about all of it is ridiculous. I'll take an A-team board any day or over boards today.
I met marc Johnson eating lunch at a greek restaurant in 2003 i think, in Portland Oregon near DoS (dept. of skateboarding). I still ride the board he signed.
To think that 15 years ago Transworld just meant that they were going around the world and exploring it on skateboards. And now in 2022 it has a completely different meaning. Good job people, great way to re-appropriate things.
I remember seeing the enjoi boards back in the mid 00s when I started skating and being like “wtf is this” but in an intrigued type of way. I ended up getting a Daewon Almost board, the zombie one.
Dude i remember when my buudy paul showed up to third period in middle school with an A-Team board. I was like what the fuck i this thing? It had an anarchy sigh on the top graphic. I was fucking blown away . I only wish it had kept going !!
Luv these skate documentaries, I think there is a massive space in the market for so many more, from the old times to the current, I'd love to see an Illegal Civ doc, maybe Braille or Revive, and the new bread of skate brand's, I find the business side, the team side, and the graphics, manufacture etc all equally intriguing, it's good to see behind the curtain and find out how some pop off and some flop.
My 6yr olds first real board is an Enjoi mini christmas complete. Tensor trucks, Enjoi 92a 52mm wheels. Actually, they might be 51mm. Cool board. Love that brand. 80 bucks. Nice.
watchin this reminded me of riding a a-team board back in the days like 1996/97..i kept all broken decks, until my dad trow the whole box away. would ´ve been a great wall of time and fun and pain xD
ps if u like jumping far or high, dont be stoopid as me, use some insoles. back in the days most shoes were flat and made feet spread after hard landings in 15years. i can tell u after 25 years, it all gets loose like gum. take care of your body guys ;) fp insoles is ok, or even specialmades for you relative the price when your foot stays fine. "shred for life" ;)
a portion of those former riders that was on that team were followers when it came to someone quitting the brand. I.E Jason Adams, Rodney, Jerry and so forth.
I've had so many boards in my life and I remember my first pro deck was a World Industries team board my mom got me didn't like the graphic so I sanded it off and just had a blank but my first pro deck that I picked out was Rodney molan enjoy with a panda pooping
Dude, Marc started Enjoi.. And he recruited Louie, Jerry, Caswell, Adam's, all of them... He left the team because he hated doing the business/management stuff -- having to be his friends boss, cause that's tough. Plus he moved away frm the Bay Area (SJ, where the bulk of the team was all located), down to southern CA, so it made sense for someone else to take the helm while Marc went on to ride for other teams. (He passed that leadership position on to a friend, Matt Eversole, frm there.. Cause Marc always hooked his friends up with industry jobs so they can live the dream like he doea.) Marc has responsibilities & bills, like anyone, so yeah he's gonna ride for companies that offer him decent pay.. But he's not a person who's all about money at all. Money is jst something ppl need to live in this world.. But the living has always been his focus.
End of a era, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoi was something else, they embodied the fun of screwing around and skating with your dumb little buddies, and the skateboarding world is now poorer in their absence. Rest in Peace, Enjoi.
I always saw skating as a form of expression art... and enjoi seems like they don't get quite the credit that's due to them... The beauty of skateboarding, you can just do what represents, You! I'll ALWAYS be a skater! edit: I was born 90, and that era will Always stay with me!! great times! And great childhood! Thanks guys! anyone remember that dingle-berry board enjoi had?! hahah I had one as a teen!
@@mesohunt704 haha I think. caswell berry sounds familiar..! edit: crazy huh!? yet I don't think I think much differently than I did then! just a bit more mature and responsible...(a little 😂😂)
So I guess this would be the 20th anniversary year. Good time to start skating again and even better time to get a white panda deck, total accident, it's meant to be
We need a enjoi ad book for the 20th anniversary

think its impossible to be a skater and not love louie. he represents all the good that is skateboarding
Word
is he wearing a wig?
@@anthonycasey6685 no, that's his real hair.
Louie is the dude!✌💙👊
M.A Anderson and they’re all probably dull street league dipshits right? Fuck em
skateboarding is the best thing I ever did in my life ... thank you guys for great childhood.
I love you 🥂 cheers fellow skater

enjoi represents everything that is good about skateboarding. all it should be about is having fun with your friends
Anti-hero kinda had that same vibe.. but more metal like... enjoi always seemed like the kids playing in the neighborhood, to me.. or the more colorful hippy types..

proud to have still have my oldass barletta board from grade school
Is it the Enjoi Breakfast at Tiffany's deck (his 1st q/ Enjoi).. Or frm when he rode for Maple..??
My first board was an MJ board. I knew Rodney was on and I dug art. 20 years later, I'm still loving the brand, looking for older decks, etc. They were the purest form of fun on four wheels, ever. Ever.
Thank you for the fun Enjoi

To create your own brand from the people to the ads to actions you make takes a real visionary.
This was so good, thank you for making the 13 year old me all giddy inside. I remember now (;
Enjoi losing Jerry Hsu is like Oklahoma CIty Thunder losing Kevin Durant.
its kinda more like edmonton losing wayne gretzky
armin38822 It's like chocolate milk being gone from the milk section at your local grocery store
Seeing Rodney talk about Louie was awesome. Love them both
Tilt Modes Man Down video was my favourite video growing up. Such a fun video

designed trucks as well!!
This film is magic
louie is such the perfect face to represent enjoi, aside from mullen, barlettas face is what I have always associated the brand with
Rodney Mullen is one of the greatest human beings of all time
Will nah he's kinda lame
Devon he invented half of the tricks you know so put some respect on his name bitch
He invented modern skateboarding. He made the modern popsicle board we all use now, not just tricks.
I'm so sick of this discussion. Yeah, mullen invented "tricks", but Mark Gonzales invented modern street skating. Dude, when Mullen invented his little fliptricks, he was standing still. Can't do too many slides and grinds while standing still on flat ground.
A friend once told me Rodney had bad style. My response was, "What style?" LMAO.
Much love from pacific northwest enoch to enjoi skateboards always! !!
This was so emotional
Enjoi made skating fun again!
34:20 hahah I'm 25 right now I really like mark, and the entire enjoi team. They are all so cool
